Jupiter must of been aligned with Mars yesterday. Let's see, Packers lose, Colts win, thereby preventing Dan Orlovsky from playing on two 0-16 teams and landing in the Guinness Book of World Records, Texans get rolled at home, Giants get rolled at home. That was an especiallly nice play be Hakeem Nicks yesterday. I'm sure I've forgotten another Bizarro World result, but I can't place it at the moment. I'll laugh if the Eagles make the playoffs, and I'll laugh even harder if the Chargers do. Going forward, a team playing like garbage for 10 weeks before finally waking up will be known as The Charger Way. Chargers won't make playoffs unless Takeo Spikes gets cut. Why anyone would sign him is beyond me--it's one thing if it's 4 years and he's not ever made postseason but 16 years? You're asking for it. No stars aligned Rooter--Titans decided to play a wounded Matt Hasselbeck (is there any other kind?) and that is even worse then a healthy Hasselbeck. Giants stink at home--which begs question--will fact they are "road" team against Jets this weekend change anything? They've lost 5 out of 6 since they carried Coughlin on their shoulders like morons in locker room after they beat New England. The one win they had-was in their annual shootout at Dallas and then Coughlin spews some more nonsense about "knocking off the star from top"..... Packers--that was coming. Chiefs defense isn't that bad, Packers were without best WR, lose 2 OT's, their defense is built to play with a lead/better against pass, and McCarthy coached like he was Herm Edwards--having 4 stoppages of clock and attempting an onsides kick against a team. Silly. How interesting could a game with Kyle Orton having chance to ruin dreams of Tebow Cult's postseason run be? If that happens--we will all be Amish for a day--or whatever origin Orton is--he looks like someone from Randy Quaid's village in Kingpin to me, but I'm sick in head, so.... Are the Ravens frauds? They can't win on road? Ray Lewis looks beyond washed up and they were better on defense without him and certainly had to be nice for team to not have to pretend to enjoy his stupid pregame routine which at this point cannot motivate anyone but NFL Films--and even their poor camera guy has to shake his head at thought of having to film him doing that dance and "Dogs in the House" act. After Lewis, Flacco decides to go for a look that is a combo of Village People, Johnny Cakes from Sopranos, and all that was missing was leather hat. Terrell Suggs whose smile makes me think of a Star Wars character--not sure which one-maybe that Edited with teeth that is out in Jabba the Hutt land couldn't do anything but run his mouth. I have always been neutral about Ravens but they just seem like paper tigers--they act tough and are just too ignorant/sloppy to win big games in Postseason. I'm just looking forward to Fake Tough Guy Lions and Harbaugh 49ers in Playoffs. Lions will sneak in due to how awful the NFC East teams have gagged, and Bears losing Cutler, but since I said they wouldn't make it-more power to them and I was wrong. Quietly, 2 teams who are playing well are Arizona and Seattle. Arizona never seems to leave home--and are a horrible call away from being in good position to make playoffs (Giant game) and Seahawks are beating teams they should and upsetting some they shouldn't. A few thoughts on this: 1. Takeo Spikes comment is hilarious. Mr Jinx. 2. I don't think it's that the Giants stink at home so much as that you just never know if they are going to stink or play well in any particular week. And when they stink, they really stink. I didn't think they would stink twice against the Redskins in the same season, but they did. 3. The Chiefs do have a good defense, but the Packers have shredded other good defenses this year. There were two keys to this game - the Chiefs put more pressure on Rodgers than any team had been able to do all year, and Kyle Orton pushed the Packer defense all over the field, and kept the Packer offense off the field. I'm not hating on Tebow, but I would love to see Orton and the Chiefs knock the Broncos out of the playoffs. Praise the Lord, and divine retribution. 4. I don't think the Ravens are frauds. I'm just not sure what happened to them last night. If they're so bad on the road, how did they beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh? I think it's more that they don't get up for lousy teams (i.e., Jacksonville, Seattle, although the Seahawks have certainly turned it around). Until last night, they had played well against every good team on their schedule - assuming the Chargers are a good team, that is. 5. Lions aren't fake tough, they're just stupid. But this is a team that is only now learning how to win, after how many lean years? I've lost count. I'm happy for them, and think (hope) they will smarten up as they mature.

Just when you think you have the NFL figured out ...
The Packers are great and probably won't lose a game The Ravens are a damn good team The Steelers are a damn good team The Giants can play with anyone The Colt are aweful and probably won't win a game The Dolphins are terrible and in the group of worst teams right behind the Colts The Chiefs are aweful and just going through the motions until the season ends The Bears are pretty dang good -- remember they were 13-3 last season The Eagles are great ... wait, no -- they're aweful and not even going to make the playoffs .. now wait a minute .. The Jets are primed to take it to the next level and contend for the Super Bowl ... no, wait a minute, they're pretenders and out of it ... no, wait a minute, they are righting the ship and look to be making a serious run again ... no, wait a minute ... The Giants are (see Jets above) The Chargers are pretenders and stink. Forget about the playoffs, even in the AFC west ... wait a minute ... The Chiefs are aweful. Forget about the playoffs, even in the AFC west ... The Seahawks are terrible, no wait, they are world beaters ... no, wait, they are bad ... no, wait a minute ... The Broncos have a great defense, but can't score
I don't think I have ever seen an NFL season with so many teams having such a drastic Jekyll and Hyde personality. But maybe that's part of the allure of the NFL. People call Pro Wrestling a soap opera for men, but maybe that's what the NFL has become.

Anybody else get screwed in your fantasy league championship game by Tony Romo's swollen right hand? Ugh, that hurt.
That, and go 49ers!

Those Jets are such a classy bunch: Ryan always, now Sanchez and Holmes. If they can't go away gracefully, they should just go away. Hopefully,we will not hear from them anymore this season.

Would like to see the Bengals knock off the Texans today. Pittsburgh would be a tough match up for New England next week. Plus the have a better shot than Denver has against the Steelers.

so the nfl makes up all these new playoff OT rules because they didn't want a coin flip to decide a playoff game. oops. guess that didn't work out too well.

I love the way Deion, Rich Eisen, and the gang on NFL network say it, like the Wizard of OZ. Cracks me up.

Drudge noted that Tebow gained 3:16 yards passing. Not that it means anything but it's kinda funny.

If you score a FG, the other team gets a chance, excuse me an "opportunity to possess." If you score a TD, they don't? Can someone explain to me how that makes any sense? I mean, whatever. Good for the Broncos and death to the Steelers. But still.

The thinking was the NFL didn't want the college OT system (which in the pros could become a protracted field goal kicking contest) but didn't want the winner of the coin flip in the playoffs driving 30 yards, kicking the FG and winning a playoff game, either. Another choice is the college system, but no field goals allowed--either score a TD or get nothing. Maybe the best argument is to go back to where it was: sudden-death, which is exactly what happened Sunday.

Why not just play another quarter, or portion of a quarter if that's too long?

I tend to agree with this but it may need to negotiated in the TV contracts over commercial time and whether networks would pay "extra" for extra time games. Other sports seem to get along with it so it shouldn't be a big deal, but this is the NFL after all, and they make more TV money in one week of regular season games than the NCAA makes in a year. Basketball works fine with a 5 min OT--a 10 min period in football would allow for at least one series per team.
