Watching Packers/Vikes and am lead to wonder why the "Lambeau Leap" is never flagged. It is clearly a "premeditated" celebration in a league which frowns on same. It has gotten so bad that on Randall Cobb's punt return, he flipped the ball jump shot style to the official, then celebrated with his teammates, then excitedly leaped in among the Cheeseheads. Under the leter of the rules, it should be flagged. Is there a carve out for stupid Midwestern Phony spontanaiety? There are grandfathered-in celebrations, like the Lambeau Leap. Why does it bother you so much?

I loathe "look at me" celebrations. I loathe phony spontanaiety. I loathe fans cheering for themselves. Thus my obvious ntipathy to the Lambeau Leap. Stale, stupid and contrived in every way. Reminds me of their former quarterback.

Reminds me of their former quarterback. I also loathe "look at me" celebrations. I also loathe phony spontaneity. I don't think this particular celebration is either of those. I think it's mostly self-perpetuating at this point. The only reason Randall Cobb did it is because everyone before him (for the past 15? years) has done it. If you want to say it's cliched or something like that, I would agree it's a valid criticism.

Personally, I think anyone in the NFL should be allowed to celebrate however they want. I mean, short of having Fan Man fly into the stadium and carry them off like Mo Szyslak. Let's be reasonable.
If you don't want them showing you up, well, don't let them score. If you want to make them pay for showing you up, well, you know where to find them.
Yes, yes. Act like you've been there before. I understand that and I appreciate the idea behind it. But I also feel like the players should be allowed to have a little fun.
The Lambeau Leap doesn't upset me, but I do think Elvado has a point. It doesn't matter if it's tradition, it is technically a violation of the rule, at least IMO it is. If they're going to flag other celebrations, or outlaw something like the Fun Bunch used to do, then this really shouldn't be allowed either.

All I know is that life is good when even Matt Flynn gets to do one.

I thought the rule said you can't leave your feet? Didn't someone get penalized last year for falling down or something?
Or is that just for while you are on the field of play?
I'm not sure if the rule was modified, but I'm pretty sure that was the case once. And they have been doing the Lambeau Leap forever, so at one point, it was definitely a violation, even if it isn't anymore.
EDIT: Regardless of whether I remember the rules accurately or not, , as I said, I don't have any problem with it and absolutely think they should be allowed to do it.

Lambeau Leap's not grandfathered in. A player's allowed to do that, but if it's more than one player, it's a flag.
If you bring in B**** F****, you're going to run what he feels like running. I'm pretty sure the Texans think their offense is versatile and powerful enough they're not the least bit interested in that kind of nonsense. If Leinart doesn't completely crap the bed, they're good enough they can still get a bye, and then who knows.

I like the Lambeau Leap. NFL players should be allowed to celebrated after TD's, within reason, of course. Virtually everybody loves soccer celebrations after a goal, football players should be allowed to do the same. If you don't like it, don't get scored on. It's more than sport - it's entertainment, people.
College football has gone overboard, too. Remember that punter earlier in the season whose TD was taken off the board because he was "taunting" the opposing player while walking into the end zone? Bull. Made me sick.
On another note, Tim Tebow is unreal.

Tim Tebow stinks. I would never want him as the starting quarterback on my team. However, I wouldn't mind having him available with the game on the line. The guy has an amazing knack for making big plays down the stretch.
The Bronco defense should be getting credit. This was the second time in four weeks that Tebow was absolutely awful for about 55 minutes, but the team wasn't so far behind that he couldn't bring them back.

I was really disappointed today: Tebow went over and touched Andre Carter before he was carted off with a knee injury and Carter did not miraculously return to the field in the second half. What gives?

What gives? ;D Guess Andre Carter should've asked the game be moved to this upcoming Sunday and not yesterday! Tebow-mania is another creation by idiots who want to always put everything in the "now' and never wait for things to unfold--as in longterm. If Denver wins 3-0 on a Tebow drive in 4th, ESPN goes with "Tebow does it again!!!!!" and it's a friggin 3-0 game. The Broncos defense deserves credit as do the Miami Dolphins for starting this crap with their failed recovery of an onsides kick that basically was given to Denver after they had initial recovery and for some reason let go of the ball?? Marion Barber's great decision making last week comes into play too. But none of that matters in the "now" generation of reporting. On other hand--why in the hell are people bashing Tony Romo lately?? I can't stand Cowboys but Romo's played well since Detroit game imo. He played well last weekend in loss to Giants and is only reason a bad Cowboys team is in playoff hunt. Scary thought-if Giants lose to Jets next weekend-be prepared for Eagles in Postseason.

Jupiter must of been aligned with Mars yesterday. Let's see, Packers lose, Colts win, thereby preventing Dan Orlovsky from playing on two 0-16 teams and landing in the Guinness Book of World Records, Texans get rolled at home, Giants get rolled at home. That was an especiallly nice play be Hakeem Nicks yesterday. I'm sure I've forgotten another Bizarro World result, but I can't place it at the moment.
I'll laugh if the Eagles make the playoffs, and I'll laugh even harder if the Chargers do. Going forward, a team playing like garbage for 10 weeks before finally waking up will be known as The Charger Way.

Going forward, a team playing like garbage for 10 weeks before finally waking up will be known as The Charger Way. Chargers won't make playoffs unless Takeo Spikes gets cut. Why anyone would sign him is beyond me--it's one thing if it's 4 years and he's not ever made postseason but 16 years? You're asking for it. No stars aligned Rooter--Titans decided to play a wounded Matt Hasselbeck (is there any other kind?) and that is even worse then a healthy Hasselbeck. Giants stink at home--which begs question--will fact they are "road" team against Jets this weekend change anything? They've lost 5 out of 6 since they carried Coughlin on their shoulders like morons in locker room after they beat New England. The one win they had-was in their annual shootout at Dallas and then Coughlin spews some more nonsense about "knocking off the star from top"..... Packers--that was coming. Chiefs defense isn't that bad, Packers were without best WR, lose 2 OT's, their defense is built to play with a lead/better against pass, and McCarthy coached like he was Herm Edwards--having 4 stoppages of clock and attempting an onsides kick against a team. Silly. How interesting could a game with Kyle Orton having chance to ruin dreams of Tebow Cult's postseason run be? If that happens--we will all be Amish for a day--or whatever origin Orton is--he looks like someone from Randy Quaid's village in Kingpin to me, but I'm sick in head, so.... Are the Ravens frauds? They can't win on road? Ray Lewis looks beyond washed up and they were better on defense without him and certainly had to be nice for team to not have to pretend to enjoy his stupid pregame routine which at this point cannot motivate anyone but NFL Films--and even their poor camera guy has to shake his head at thought of having to film him doing that dance and "Dogs in the House" act. After Lewis, Flacco decides to go for a look that is a combo of Village People, Johnny Cakes from Sopranos, and all that was missing was leather hat. Terrell Suggs whose smile makes me think of a Star Wars character--not sure which one-maybe that Edited with teeth that is out in Jabba the Hutt land couldn't do anything but run his mouth. I have always been neutral about Ravens but they just seem like paper tigers--they act tough and are just too ignorant/sloppy to win big games in Postseason. I'm just looking forward to Fake Tough Guy Lions and Harbaugh 49ers in Playoffs. Lions will sneak in due to how awful the NFC East teams have gagged, and Bears losing Cutler, but since I said they wouldn't make it-more power to them and I was wrong. Quietly, 2 teams who are playing well are Arizona and Seattle. Arizona never seems to leave home--and are a horrible call away from being in good position to make playoffs (Giant game) and Seahawks are beating teams they should and upsetting some they shouldn't.

Great skit on SNL about Tebow SAturday night. JC visted Tebow in the Broncos locker room and told Tim that he, JC, was God's son, Tom Brady was God's nephew but that Bill B was the devil. Hilarious, not too profane and accurate.
