When will Belichick/Pats admit that Chad Johnson is a complete bust? He was always overrated, but the guy is not only washed up-he's just wasting a roster spot on a team that greatly needs an upgrade in talent. Storing up on draft picks only helps if you know what the hell you are doing. Scott Pioli isn't overseeing the personnel anymore, so I'd rather they take some good players in the spot they are drafting instead of storing up on picks and watching them take guys who can't play. Don't want Brady wasting away on a mediocre team like Troy Aikman did the last part of his career. Just horrendous move to acquire a guy who was never an elite player but Belichick liked from Pro Bowl (as if that game isn't worthless enough).
Credit to Giants though--they made the plays and Eli Manning drove it down the Pats throats when it mattered.
Ravens-Steelers games are classics--just great physical football (can do without the horrible flag football like contact rules like the awful penalty called on Ryan Clark).
Aaron Rodgers---bet he just thinks of Shaq's infamous "Tell Me How My ... Tastes" line to all the media who tried to bury him/Packers when Lord of the Hillbillies was jettisoned and now want to heap the praise on him and were always "believers".

I'm not a big fan of Chris Collinsowrth, but I think he hit the nail on the head last night when he said, "I think the players on both of these teams would just as soon play without referees." On another subject, I really don't read that much about football from sportswriters, so I'm not sure if this is a common theme out there or not this year, but am I the only one who is thinking that the majority of games and quality of play in 2011 are really sub-par? OK, of course you have your standout performers, Aaron Rodgers being the current be-all end-all of quarterback play (and deservedly so). And there are definitely some exciting finishes to a lot of games, e.g. - last night's latest Steelers-Ravens slobberknocker. But overall, I have found myself watching a lot of games on Sundays and thinking, "Man, this game really sucks and/or is boring." So, am I just getting old and maybe a little less interested in the NFL, or is this something other people are noticing too?

So, am I just getting old and maybe a little less interested in the NFL, or is this something other people are noticing too? Whether the NFL and pansies like Lord Dungy, Peter King, and other overreactionary people to 1 incident/injury like to believe, football fans like the violence of the game. Big hits, hitting, and defense matter. When you cripple one side of the ball with such asinine rules that are all catered to help offenses, you get a predictable product. That plays 1 factor for fans imo. As for the other end, think we're seeing that OTA's Mini Camp, Off Season conditioning matter a lot more then people in NFL want to admit and the stupidity of having Bye Weeks being vacations doesn't help-4 days off and less hitting in practices? The game is a contact sport that isn't mandatory--if you don't care to get hit or participate, don't play the sport, go find something else to do. If you choose to participate, then guess what, the standard of work ethic has to be set like any other industry. Just think the NFL is at a crossroads when it comes to punishing defense from being played and don't think it needs to be changed a great deal to help them--but you can't always change rules to punish hitting/contact when your sport's popularity is built on contact/violence and why so many of us have played it in HS, College, etc..... Where else can you physically assault someone within the rules of a game and not get into trouble?

Thank you to the Raiders and Chargers for keeping hope alive in Kansas City. But no thanks to the Chiefs for channeling their performances from the first two weeks of the season yesterday. Every time I saw an updated score, my WTF level grew higher. Yeah, Matt Moore is a real stud.

The Chiefs totally SUCK out loud. Why, oh why, did I take them in out elimination league this week? Why, oh why, did I drink the koolaid? I saw them lose at home on opening day something like 41-7 ... they were a team I was supposed to pick AGAINST. Grrrr....
Asia and the Firm were "dream teams" too.
The Firm was actually very good. Asia was "successful," but I always thought they were way, way too poppish. "Only Time Will Tell," "Heat of the Moment" and that horrible ballad that was/sounded exactly like "The Smile has Left your Eyes." Yuck.
The Firm had some really, really god music though.

Steve Howe did far, far superior work with Steve Hackett in GTR than he ever did with Asia. Even though the latter was more popular.
Yes, GTR was too a supergroup!!
(Best supergroup ever? Tie between Postal Service and Electronic)
Enough of my hijacking. Back to crappy, crappy NFL football. Has Andy Reid been fired yet?

(Best supergroup ever? Tie between Postal Service and Electronic) mmmm, no. Not even close. Best super group ever? How about the one for which the name was coined? Cream. You can look it up.

One more music comment: I think RUSH might be the best Super Group. Yeah, I know that isn't the idea behind the term. But purely from a talent perspective, I don't think you get any better than Rush. Neil Peart is one of the best drummers of all time and is on everyone's list of greatest drummers. Geddy Lee is one of the greatest Bass players of all time and is on everyone's list. Singing is too subjective, but at least in my opinion, Lee is also extremely talented. And if Alex Lifeson is your "weak link," then you're pretty friggin' good. I think that he is a top ten guitarist -- certainly top ten rock guitarist of the past 20 or 30 years.
But in the traditional sense of the term, my vote goes to Cream.

Agree with Elvado - I think Blind Faith was the first acknowledged super group. As for Cream, they were just super. ;D I still love listening to them (but I've always been a Clapton junkie).

I know this has been asked before, but how does Norv Turner still have a head coaching job in the NFL?

Watching Packers/Vikes and am lead to wonder why the "Lambeau Leap" is never flagged. It is clearly a "premeditated" celebration in a league which frowns on same. It has gotten so bad that on Randall Cobb's punt return, he flipped the ball jump shot style to the official, then celebrated with his teammates, then excitedly leaped in among the Cheeseheads. Under the leter of the rules, it should be flagged. Is there a carve out for stupid Midwestern Phony spontanaiety?
