Whining??? Hardly! Dude I don't take message boards that seriously to whine. I was commenting on how you choose to backside dis whether or not you say it was at me or not. Dense, don't mean to hurt your feelings but I didn't even remember that you were one of the three or four people that made comments about how Upshaw could be the better get. That's why I didn't even bother to point out any individuals in particular. It's why I made it a point in my previous post to remind you that it was more than one person who took that view. I do not remember the screen names of every person I agree with or disagree with anyway. Considering I read roughly a hundred or so posts on this board almost every day and considering that multiple posts can be written by single individuals who take stances that I can either concur with or find fault with, you'll have to excuse me if most times it becomes a blur regarding who wrote what. The person I'm having a dispute with today may be someone who I agreed with the day before without even realizing it. That's just the way it is. I certainly wasn't going to go back 20 pages to try matching the quotes with the individuals who posted them. Anyway no biggie. My point still stands regarding Upshaw and NN. And so does yours. We agree to disagree although we may not be disagreeing on all that much.

FWIW ukbasketballnews.com/?p=1520"Last night a rumor came out about a 7 foot player was on the UK campus. The rumored player is former Kansas State commit Robert Upshaw. He is 6’11 and 250 pounds. He is suppose to make his decision tommorrow. UK fans watch tommorrow we might have a New Cat to sign with Kentucky” Doubt this is true considering that UK has Cauley and Noel..

Nothing would surprise me about recruiting anymore. What a joke

Gotcha...no problem MCI.....I accept that. If upshaw signed with UK I think I would throw up. Because it would seem that the Miami heat model is seeping into college basketball which would mean a 60s thing with one or two super teams and a bunch of guys grasping for scraps.

Maybe but until we lose to a super team no point in complaining. We have lost to teams at our level not because lack of talent (mostly luck and injuries and some depth issues). Hopefully losing recruits to Kentucky does not stop us from working on the next level of players.

To lose both Noel and Upshaw to Kentucky would be brutal.

Upshaw isn't going to Kentucky and he wasn't visiting there. The rumors are running rampant everywhere right now.
This "Miami Heat" model-it's called College Basketball. You can recruit who you want and the elite programs land elite talent. Doesn't assure you of winning championships-but sure doesn't hurt. Just because it's not happening at Georgetown doesn't mean we've got to hate on teams who get talented guys. You want those type of players to look at Georgetown? Win more games and especially in March. Some of you might not have been around but this is what Georgetown once was--an elite program that landed elite players. For some reason the leader of program felt he could take lesser players and keep program at same level. That didn't turn out as he thought--and when he got talent again--he won games again. Recruiting is like players working on their game--you get what you put into it. Keep knocking on that door and someone will eventually answer and then the winning follows. Everyone who knocks the '06 class (Vernon, Dajuan, and Jeremiah)--forgets they helped program win at a level it hadn't seen since 1980's. Were they stars? No--but they were added to great core and winning followed. Broadus was able to lock guys up and get early commits as well. Kirby is a great recruiter. I think Hoyas are hurting themselves by only utilizing one of these 2 and after those 2, Pops is best recruiting assistant. Problem is only 1 of them are allowed on road to actively recruit, so what do those other 2 do? Want to upgrade talent base--upgrade your staff. That's only way Hoyas can compete since they have substandard facilities and a JR High Traveling team budget.

RDF when I said Miami Heat model I meant guys wanting to play with each other to win not caring about minutes....but in college it hurts because of development reasons. You see it in High school hoops and AAU it had kinda not invaded college till UK started to benefit. True you can recruit who you want but guys who could play 35 mins a game at one school will go to a school where they will play 15 to win a championship is new. Its like UCLA in the 60's when Wooden just could offer 1,2,3,4,5,6 in the recruit ranks and they all came to UCLA no matter what. WE haven't seen anything like that since then.

RDF - on target..... Tubby Smith was not a great recruiter at Kentucky and neither was his staff. He did win one championship as coach. Smith did not go after every 5-star recriut. This eventually caused him to be run out of town. Thompson is a good coach and I believe he can be successful with 3-4 year starters. The potential one- done athletes are not interested in 3-4 years to win a possible championship. I don't know about DC and others places, but in Tennessee there are kids changing schools to be part of winning programs.

Kentucky is always in need of elite recruiters who are highly successful because the state itself doesn't produce nearly enough elite basketball talents.

Hearing Upshaw has informed those recruiting him he has chosen Fresno...We shall see if this is indeed correct.
