A friend of mine that attends Morehead U. thought that Vee was interested in the OVC school.

At this point, the Princeton offense or system is no secret. You cannot even watch a televised Georgetown game without the commentators talking about it. I think that the larger issue is that many recruits probably don't fully understand the system (and what it will mean for them personally) or they choose to disregard it, figuring they will get their opportunities anyway. Would Vee Sanford have complained about the system if he was getting 20 minutes a game the last two years? Maybe, but probably not.

I am with you prhoya, is there some kind of over-promising being done by the staff here? Or are these kids, a late signee no less, really think the offense will be modified to adjust to his game? The staff needs to come under some scrutiny at some point. The offense should NEVER be an excuse for these kids leave. It sounds like perhaps we are telling some of these kids what they want to hear as opposed to what is reality. I hope JT3 is up-front as possible with these recruits, he needs to realize they will transfer eventually if it is a poor fit, even when they are basically promised playing time like in Vee's situation. It just does not make sense to pretend he is going to change his coachign philosophy for any of these kids, it will not happen. It is far more likely that kids hear what they want to, not necessarily what they are told. "You will get as much playing time as you can earn" does not directly translate to "I'm gonna be a star."

He was fine in our system although on D he was a bit slow of foot and got burned a lot on the drive. He could shoot and slip in for his floaters so I have no idea what he is talking about.

That is the biggest problem with the program. We have to get away from these types of kids.

Agreed Bronxie. As much as many people on here would love another JWall walking through that door (or even a more skilled form), we don't have a 7'3" shot intimidator in the middle to erase their mistakes/shortcomings in perimeter D.

Best of luck to Vee wherever he decides to go. Vee seemed like a great kid that, for whatever reason, became disenchanted with his role (or lack thereof). Even with that, there were no negative reports or comments from Vee. That's gotta be a pretty difficult thing to keep in as a young guy wanting to play ball. I have a lot of respect for how he's handled a situation that was clearly not to his liking.

Vee is leaving because Jabril is the real deal. This has to be the most ridiculous analysis of the situation I have read yet. Jabril hasn't even set foot on campus, I've seen nothing to suggest he's even close to the level of outside threat that Vee was, and nothing to suggest he handles the ball as well. It sounds like Vee is leaving because : - he didn't get minutes - he was lower on the totem pole than Starks and read the writing on the wall Nothing against Jabril, but the idea that Jabril was the reason for him leaving is outright laughable.

Returning players play with incoming players slot before they step foot on campus and some do realize someone is better and think maybe I better leave. Also Monroe coming home also played a part in Macklin transferring. Nothing against Jabril, but the idea that Jabril was the reason for him leaving is outright laughable.

Whether Jabril was coming or not had nothing to do with Vee leaving.
Vee wasn't getting much playing time for the past 2 years. The writing was on the wall before Jabril even signed to come here.
Its been documented why Macklin left. He was unhappy here and wanted a change. Had nothing to do with Monroe.

Adding to Way's comments--if you remember Vernon left prior to Georgetown even being mentioned by Greg Monroe--Hoyas were a late entry in his recruitment.

Plus be real, how many kids out there are going to say I'm leaving because we are getting a top rated player who plays my position. That makes you look like you are scared of competition.

Monroe committed to GU in October 2007 -- before Macklin's soph year. Macklin announced he was transferring on April 27, 2008.
