Well, yes, Trawick is much more likely to be solid, rather than all-league.
But I'd say when you compare him to, well, Jessie Sapp, Trawick has higher potential. He's bigger, he's more athletic. He may not have Jessie's skillset, but that's easier to develop than athleticism or size. And he seems like a dedicated, hard worker (not that Jessie wasn't).
But there's a difference between potential or upside and the most likely case.
And I see a decent amount of it out there. Whittington has much more potential than most of our unknown signings if only because of size. He's bigger than Benimon and Wattad, more athletic than Nikita. Will he bust out? Not necessarily, probably not even likely. But a player with his tools -- you can see them being a very good player. I could never see that with Omar Wattad.
We recruited size, and that usually means potential. It doesn't mean people are going to reach it, but I don't actually see any of these guys with that low of a ceiling.

People are going to be pleasantly surprised at how ready Whittington is to contribute and his minutes next season.
It won't take long.

Well glad someone else likes him as much as I did viewing him--that guy has NBA potential--just a matter of work ethic. He is going to surprise people that never saw anything of him and think he's a bruising PF. Agree with most people's points made but I'll say this--if Henry Sims can just bottle up the production he showed last year in Charleston Classic and the Marquette game-he'll provide a nice role on team and have nice SR season. That should be the goal--which I think is realistic. Anything more--great, anything less, he'll be out of rotation quickly. As a fan of Hank dating back to HS and highly overestimating his ceiling, hope he does it--but just frustrated he waited until his JR season to play where he should've as a FR/Soph--those were wasted seasons. Make last 1 his best and he'll go out knowing he got better/helped team.

You can tell the people that have never seen him by how they talk about his game and where he projects at the collegiate level. He's a 3, period. He can put the ball on the floor, is fearless attacking the basket and can stroke it. He's also got a nice frame on him and with some work in the weight room, will be an imposing player. His offense is there and if he gives the effort on defense that I saw from him periodically during the season, he has star potential and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he's the eventual jewel out of this class.

I'll defer to you on this one, deacon, but WOW! I'll throw in several grains of salt, but I'm excited. The link I posted above goes on about this group's defensive abilities and I love it (another grain of salt). But, I also can see great offensive potential. Porter and Greg could pick apart a zone. Given the same space as Nate and Social Sims got at the top of the key from opponents, Greg and Otto could use that handle to drive to the rim from the FT line or shoot. I know it is just a highlight reel, but Otto's video (with AC/DC's Thunderstruck) shows how quickly he moves towards the basket and his Kobe-esque fadeaway. I liked a sequence where he grabs the rebound around a crowded basket and instead of trying to go up, he deliberately steps out and shoots a nice jumper all alone and without hesitation. That is confidence. Plus, I like the friendly competition building between Hopkins and these two. Maybe Hopkins is feeling the heat and will serve him (and the team) well. Jabril plays without fear and loves a challenge. Let's see how that translates to the BE. Tyler needs to work hard around the rim and he'll get his baskets. Plus, he has Coach O to tutor him.
