I mean this in all seriousness. I actually need to send the Hoop Club and Steve Alleva an e-mail this is so fantastically good!!! blog.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2011/02/post_20.htmlMy two cents -- Syracuse fans whine like their coach. Come on, like they were going to get to use vacation from McDonald's? If a Syracuse education got you more than a job in the fast food industry, maybe, maybe you could afford a more expensive ticket. The world needs ditch diggers too. That's why God created SU.

Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
Excellent job Steve, Julia, Jordan and everyone over there!

Important info (no surprise based on past experience):
Places to avoid: Clydes at the Verizon Center.

Don't Pitt and WV have very similar restrictive ticketing policies for big games? I remember HB wanted to do roadtrips to both but had trouble getting tickets.
I just fail to see the problem with this and why its grounds for an entire article about it. Georgetown gave the required amount of tickets to Syracuse, and then sold to alums and donors before they released tickets to the general public.

i have a problem with the number of students selling tickets on the market. to syracuse fans no less. they should be banned forever from purchasing hoya tickets.

Agreed, but maybe they will be vigilant about needing a student ID to get into the section. That could leave ticket holders without a seat which would be particularly nice if they are SU fans. That said, I would address notorious season ticket holders first. Particularly those with good seats who sell game after game leaving earnest fans with season tickets that are less desirable. i have a problem with the number of students selling tickets on the market. to syracuse fans no less. they should be banned forever from purchasing hoya tickets.

the people who own the four seats in front of me live in Roanoke and sell all their tickets on Stub Hub. I actually sent them an email about it and they said they plan to return to DC in a couple of years and don't want to give up their seats. They also said that they don't break even for the season. We had by far the most obnoxious CUSE fans in those seats last year. Their point is that the 4 seats cost them $5000 for each year and that's life.

I watched the stubhub stuff this week, the 'extra' 400 level seats may have 'not been released to the public' via ticketmaster face value, but they did make several sections worth of 400's behind the baskets available on stubhub for ~$100 (+fees) -- seems fair to me
There was also a block in the lower bowl behind the band(?) that was made available on stubhub for $200+ each -- I assume that's usually general student ticket section but they are making them assigned seats and student overflow goes upstairs

Georgetown gave the required amount of tickets to Syracuse, and then sold to alums and donors before they released tickets to the general public. Don't remember about Pitt, but for West Virginia, they make several games "premium" games (usually us, Pitt, and some other). IIRC, in order to buy more than 4 tickets to a premium game, you have to have bought an equal number of tickets to another, non-premium game.

yes but those stub hubs are already available on the street for under $70 and will be at face on the street in the morning. the other good thing is fans who where flying out may be delayed with a good snow storm upstate.

Hopefully, the snow that I fear might pin me down in Pittsburgh all makes its way to Syracuse before my bus this afternoon. As for this article, I still fail to see what the author thinks we're doing wrong. Maintaining a home court advantage when our students/alums/fans fill the demand for tickets? Oooooo, burn! And Steve Alleva has, in fact, been the man in all my interactions with him. Definitely a great guy when it comes to taking care of Hoya fans. And I like him better as the in-game Verizon announcer than the guy we usually have.

The Hoyas need to turn Clyde's into a whining, snivelling black hole of depression tomorrow.

STEVE ALLEVA is the man. Most genuinely good guy and helpful in every way possible. We're lucky to have him on the team. I also agree the Steve should be the MC at all our home games. To Whom It May Concern: PROMOTE STEVE!

It's like Cuse fans think they have a constitutional right or something to equal ticket access to any away game of their choosing. Stop whining. On a sidenote, is the Zach Lowe mentioned during the first half of the article the same Zach Lowe that writes for The Point Forward on si.com? If so, that might have something to do with the Point Forward's extreme dislike of Jeff Green as has been referenced in the Green to Celtics thread... nba-point-forward.si.com/2011/02/24/boston-okc-pull-last-minute-trade-stunner/

Carey will be a future White House spokesman: "Georgetown spokesman Mike Carey said a number of issues factored into the school’s decision to deny tickets to the general public. Saturday is Senior Day, when Georgetown will honor “four seniors who are very, very popular,” Carey said. Georgetown will also induct Alonzo Mourning into its sports Hall of Fame this weekend. And the game marks the first time since 2006 that the Orange plays the Hoyas on a Saturday afternoon, when ticket demand from Georgetown fans spikes."
He forgot to add the high number of tickets going to all those '11, '12 & '13 recruits/prospects!

from the Tarik article:
"The irony of the whole thing is I don't think I've ever donated money to Syracuse," he said with laugh. "And now I'm a Georgetown donor. I'm sure I'll be getting a phone calls from them on a yearly basis to give them more money now that they have all of my information."

I could see being upset if we pulled the old 'Tarp a bunch of sections and call it a sellout' move. But this? I guess schools like Duke are the devil incarnate then...
