So Dwight Hardy is pretty good huh?
Also must be depressing for UMCP fans to realize both Gtown AND Mason have passed them as a program.

St. John's gets its first win over Marquette since 1966.
The Bradley Center cleared out quickly with about 3 minutes left to go

With 5 minutes left it's UNLV 35 - AFA 28.
In basketball.

It was pretty hilarious hearing the ACC boosters on the broadcast of the MD-VaTech game, saying "it's not over for Maryland if they don't win this game" and then lauding their close loss to BC (which, the more I think about it, really is one of their three best games on the season).

Someone should tell Buzz Williams that pale, balding men should not wear light-colored blazers. Someone should also clue him in to a thing called "the second half," and that it would be a good idea for his team to try and play during one.

Yeah, every time I see Marquette, I feel like they should be a good team. Crowder, Butler, Johnson-Odom. Those are good players. Buzz deserves a good degree of criticism this year. Losing to SJU by 12 at home? Ouch.

Boeheim was directing his ire at two Post-Standard columnists that get into the "sky is falling" attitude up on the frozen tundra. Syraucse has one senior and they're still going to be in the top 6-7 when all is said and done. He's going to retire someday as the winningest coach in college basketball history and the local press regularly unloads on him as if he was Fred Hill Jr. He's earned the right to be tired of it. Eh... I mean, there's a reason why Syracuse has only one senior this season. And why the prevailing reaction of 'Cuse fans to "there are allegations one or more of your players are point-shaving" was "sounds about right." Jimmy B's compiled quite a record (comparable to Calhoun, Izzo, Roy Williams)... but we're not talking about John Wooden here. He doesn't get a pass from criticism just because he won Coach of the Year last year. Here is one of any number of articles about the Bobcats seemingly having the Lakers number. Phil Jackson has won 11 NBA titles. Should such articles not be written out of deference to The Zen Master? Most importantly, media criticism is part of the job description, and Boeheim is more than well-compensated enough to deal with it. That he whines and acts like a petulant ass about someone pointing out he's lost 7 straight to Pitino is just further proof that he has thinner skin than an actual orange.

You really think Boeheim is going to pick up 45+ wins on Coach K before he retires? i don't think Magoo has that many years left in him. Boeheim has had it in for the Post-Standard ever since they dared to investigate and run the stories in the 90's on improper benefits to players from boosters that led the NCAA to investigate and hit SU with probation. He thinks the local paper should be a PR rag for his teams. Bad form, Mr. Magoo.

You really think Boeheim is going to pick up 45+ wins on Coach K before he retires? i don't think Magoo has that many years left in him. Absolutely. Krzyzewski is 64, Boeheim 66, but Coach K has been at this since 1975 and at some point doesn't need coaching any more. He's a multi-millionaire, runs a very profitable executive ed program at Duke's business school, and could be an NBA coaching candidate at any time (and if I'm the Lakers, he's on a short list regardless.) He also looks like someone who is tiring of the whole process. He'll pass Bob Knight, his mentor in coaching victories, late this season or early next, and then what? By contrast, Boeheim is a lifer, like Joe Paterno. He gets up, he goes to work, he goes home. With the exception of two years playing in the Eastern League he's spent his entire adult life at Syracuse University and built that program in ways his predecessors never did. It would only take him less than two years to set the record after Krzyzewski retires (42 wins short at this point). And like Paterno, I could see him coaching into his 80's if his health allowed it.

Yeah, I see Coach K getting to 1,000 and calling it a day. He's won 4 titles.

Boeheim will be out in 4 years, 5 max. He is clearly growing increasingly tired of the attitude of today's players (at least the type he recruits for his program), the TMZ ambush-style media trends, the travel, etc. I am absolutely certain that if he won another title he would be gone, maybe even with another final four(lord forbid either happening). Not to mention that Boeheim feels allegiance to the designated "Head-coach-in-waiting" Mike Hopkins and will feel increasing pressure to trun over the reins. And Coach K has been courted repeatedly by the pros without success, at his age and stage of life he won't be going that root. Magoo won't catch him.

Magoo has already travelled all the way to Pittsburgh and Louisville, and still has to go to Philly and DC - exhausting for a man used to staying within the NY borders!

I mean, he almost left the Eastern Time Zone! He probably had to take a nap just thinking about the possibility that he might have to change his watch!

That press conference is ridiculous. complaining about an article in which a fact was stated (granted i didn't read the article). But how does he get away with whining that much and no one calls him out on it. I wish one of the PS reporters had said something like....i have a job to do, did you want me to ignore the fact that in the last 6 games you have lost to this coach? isn't that a relavent fact when reporting the game. OR if it was a col - hey a hole. i wrote an opinion piece. you got a problem with it - write an article and I'll publish it. and yes if you act like an a hole to me...i take it personnally.

Magoo is a god to the people of Syracuse, the only thing that puts them on the national map. Those who dare mention even the smallest chink in the armor better have 24 hour security, the SUckers will eat them alive.

So glad that 56-41 barn burner between Dook and UVa was on ESPN instead of GU-UConn.
