Crowder reminds me of the kid that looks like Mario Lopez on Utah State. Strong, athletic, high energy, lots of different ways to be effective. But I think we can also get him in foul trouble. If so, the game becomes a little easier though they still have plenty of other talent.

They have a big man this year in Gardner. He's not overly tall, but he's got some girth. But is he a MAN? What if he's a finance major? Can he be both a MAN and a BANKER at the same time?

I have seen them at the Bradley Center a lot since moving to MKE. A fun team to watch, and I don't want to slag off on them, but it seems that neither the players nor Buzz is particularly consistent in handling the end of a close game. The Hoyas are streets ahead of the Warriors--sorry! Golden Eagles--in terms of end-of-game poise and strategy. They don't blow it every time by any means but they will make a crazy charge with time on the clock or a dumb foul in the final 40 seconds as often as not. Not clear whether Buzz needs to work on his strategy or the kids don't remember the drill, or what it is exactly.

With games like these it usually boils down to who needs the win more. This is what scares me about this game, Marquette needs this game alot more than we do. Clearly a natural letdown game especailly with Uconn on the horizon. Character game.

I trust this resurgent Hoyas team to not lose focus. First time I've felt that since 2008.

On Crowder, think Lazar Hayward from last year, but probably better. Similar size, better outside shooter. !?! You're describing a fringe lottery player.

Crowder isnt a better shooter than Hayward...its not even close. He actually is better down low though, he really uses his girth well, the problem is he is a 6'4 PF. But yeah Hayward can stick it way out to 30ft, Crowder is a decent college 3pt shooter. Crowder just finds a way to finish down low over taller guys.

Well, hopefully we've got four or five taller guys that will give Crowder more work than he can handle on finishing, and on the offensive end, Hollis and Nate should be able to make the mismatch count.

It'll be a typical tough game against a far more enjoyable Marquette program since Creepy Tom Crean and his PT Barnum act went to Bloomington. Bubba Sparxxx can coach/recruit and he's someone that has a team that is enjoyable to watch and players improve in their time there--Jimmy Butler has grown as a player and Hayward's best years were under Buzz Williams.
Hoyas just have to be willing to get after it and engage in a physical game. They can't be thinking anything has been accomplished and need to dictate tempo/attack and not react-Marquette feeds on teams who wait to respond to their aggressive play.

Marquette has always been a tough out for us, and I expect Sunday to be no different. The Golden Eagles will be desperate, yes, but the Hoyas' recent re-committment to defense and the poise, patience, persistence, and passion they have shown of late will carry the day.
I expect a close, hard-fought game and a nail-biting, heart-attack-inducing Hoyas victory.
Followed by a great post-game event ;-).

Right now I think the Hoyas are a good team with the potential to be great. I'd like to see us really flex some muscle at home and take care of Marquette quickly, get some of the younger guys some serious minutes and win this one by 12+.

Board is so quiet today...
I think this will be a tough one. As mentioned above - they NEED the game. We do as well - but this could be a trap game, given their ranking and our upcoming date with uconn...that said, if the team has bought into what JTIII keeps saying "the difference between 2-11 isn't much if anything" then they should be focused - well hopefully.
If the team is focused we really only need to worry about an off game from the guys (which yes is possible even if they are focused)

If the team doesn't play well, it can only be a result of lack of effort and poor moral character.

Boy do I remember that one, and remember thinking as I left the VC, "did we just absolutely demolish a very good team? How good are we?"

Not sure if I would like our chances in the Bradley Center, but at home, this is a game the Hoyas should win if they want to be seen as a serious BE and national contender. MU is definitely good enough to be respected, but no way they should come into our house and get a W, just no way. Hopefully we will have a nice lively crowd to ramp up the Hoyas energy on defense and continue this winning streak.
