2) Marquette has only lost one game by double digits this year and last year. That game was a 23pt drubbing by Georgetown in the big east tournament. I noticed this too and it is really amazing to me. In fact, if you look at Marquette's "luck" # on Kenpom, they are 11th/345 in being "unlucky" this year. This means - at least in theory - that their record is worse than what would be expected given their efficiencies. That's not super unusual by itself, though. But then we look at last year and they are 38th/347 in being unlucky. Again, not super unusual by itself, but the chances of being that "unlucky" two years in a row by chance alone is pretty small. I kept looking back through more years and you actually have to go back to 2005 to find a year where their "luck" # was positive (2007 was exactly even). They have been well into the "unlucky" side for 4 years in a row. Pretty nuts. Either Marquette is REALLY unlucky or they have a real problem in close games.

yeah at some point you have to think that it's not luck but that Marquette just doesn't know how to close out tight games.

I hate it when I read posts like "Hoyas should win if they want to be seen as a serious BE contender" No dissrespect, NC, but that's just flawed thinking. Marquette is a good team, we're in a great great league, everyone can beat everyone on any given night. Is UConn not a contender because they lost to St. John's? Of course that isn't the case. Is Nova not a contender because they lost to Rutgers? Of course that isn't the case. We have to play well to win. We aren't guaranteed any wins just because it's Marquette and the game is at Verizon. Marquette is a team I respect immensely. They're quick, they have a bunch of shooters, they have athletes, Johnson-Odom and Butler can go off at any time. We aren't above anyone. We have to grind out wins like anyone else. Will we put ourselves in position to win if we play well? Absolutely. But to insinuate that we can win games just by showing up is the wrong way to think. Yesssssssssssssir, you sound like me, I totally agree, and thank you for saying this! Some folks just don't understand or know what the heck is going on. They think is just a basketball game, but it's about life through sports...if they live they're lives like they talk on here sometimes I feel sorry for them, lol...

The creator of the video is a good friend of mine and I'd told him about this thread. He asked me to post this on his behalf (since he's still waiting to have his account approved right now): "This is Jon Deutsch (COL 07) creator of the "Golden Eagle" Rival Reel. Here is a link to a youtube version of the vid: Unfortunately, youtube wont let me post the original soundtrack (due to copyright issues) but I am more than happy to e-mail the original file to anyone who wants it (or the new one). All I ask is that you give me and my partner credit where ever it seems due. Oh, and HOYA SAXA and LET'S STUFF THE EAGLES! Jon Deutsch -jonathan.deutsch@gmail.com" Jon also has a brand new webseries called Citizen's Arrest, if anyone else enjoys his sense of humor and would like to see more from him: citizensarrestshow.com/ I figure it's always good to support the work of a fellow Hoya.

interesting stat i found on the marquette scout board. Based on the stats the Georgetown is 32-24 in true road games since 2006-2007 tied for the 8th best road % among major conference teams with wisconsin only Kansas, UNC, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Nova ,Duke, UCLA have better win %s. Syracuse rounds out the top 10. Georgetown also has the 4th most total road wins. Interesting that 5 of the top 10 are BE teams.

Things to watch: 1. Consistency. Keep it up, guys! Play hard and focused, not crazy, with good shot selection and good communication on defense and strong rebounding. Good time-outs too. 2. Shot selection. According to the scouting report, MU is poor at defending the perimeter. There should be no need to shoot NBA 3s. 3. JV and HS on FTs. The more these guys are handling the ball, the more they'll go to the line. Good practice leads to good FTs. 4. Rebounds. It's the 222nd vs. 162nd ranked teams. We've outperformed better competition.Continue the great run of the winning streak. No easy offensive rebounds for MU. 5. Defense. Continue the new-look Hoya defensive intensity. I would like to see some press. 6. Coaching match-up. How will JT3 deal with Johnson, Butler and Crowder? JT3 is 1-3 vs. Buzz Williams. Time to turn that around, JT3!
From ESPN's preview:
"Coming off our last win over Syracuse is a great feeling," said sophomore forward Hollis Thompson, who is 12 of 19 (63.2) from 3-point range during the winning streak. "A lot of times teams come off big wins and kick their feet up when they need to be on their toes. I think we recognize that because we've been through that in the past. I think we're going to stay focused and stay on top of that."
HOYA SAXA!

Coach K picks and chooses teams so he can stay that high. After this year's SJU (2nd game of a home/home series) fiasco, I'm wondering if he'll schedule another home/home series with top 11 BE teams next year.
