Arenas is one of the fastest cats in the league and a beast! Remember him from Kenner a couple of summers ago? J Wally told me the two most impressive dudes during Kenner that year were Arenas, who apparently played in track shoes, and "some old cat" named Curt Smith. Wallace genuinely didn't know who he was! I love it!

I didn't use "true guard," I used "small guard" and "wing." In your first post you said we'd have 3 true guards, plus Wattad - that was the one I didn't quite get.

Oh, I was saying in '09-'10 we'd only have three guards -- Austin, Chris and Clark, but I was wrong. If no one transfers or jumps, we'll hav four as that would be Rivers' senior year.

he finally left K State today.
Of course Frank Martin said 'he quit.'
Kid is still an elite athlete and I wonder if the staff might at least place a call or two. He has had some undisclosed personal things to deal with this year, maybe he'd be looking to be closer to home again? with a squeeze on scholarships, it would seem unlikely but just sayin.
I can't blame him for not developing his first 2 years out there, sure..a lot falls on his shoulders..but that staff has done him no favors.
edit:
I bumped this thinking it was in the recruiting forum. If a mod can move it it there now. thanks

Bummer for Wally. I hope he works things out and finds a place where he can get back on track.

This is what you get when you go to a clown school coached by a clown. Tough **** Mr. Judge and your game is complete garbage and underdeveloped--but you sure look tough due to Mr. Scowl "developing" the "tough" look.
Guys like Judge who are pushed to clown places are dead to me. (tribute to MCIGuy!)

I believe elvado only uses that expression for former Hoya players. I however use it for recruits who do not choose GU....especially when they are former DC Assault guys who go to wastelands like Kansas, Manhattan. Suck it, Wally!

This kid still has Jeff Green type ability. If he was willing to come I'd take him for sure. That KSU program is a trainwreck right now.

Guy isn't Jeff Green nor will he be--and he chose his path--or the advice of morons who had other interests at hand. Give me a HS player in '12 class over Wally Judge.

Yeah you right, RDF
Judge is nothing like Jeff Green...not even close....at this point he's an athlete, not a basketball player...and going to a slimeball like Martin, you have to go in with ur eyes open. If you aren't in the rotation, he won't speak to you, you won't have a support system in school, campus life, nothing. You're all alone because you can't do anything for him.
Guys like Martin, Huggins, Calhoun, hate those types. They just use you and throw you out the minute your eligibility is up. It's the reason why I refuse to celebrate the legacy of Jim Valvano. The guy ruined more lives than can be counted. And it's an insult to the Kelsey Weems', Chris Washburn's of the world that Jimmy V's looked upon as a saint.

This kid might be as athletic as Jeff was. But he isn't within the same stratosphere as Jeff is in terms of being a basketball player. That kid could effing ball.

I'm not saying he's Jeff Green or could become Jeff Green -- I mean to say he's got Jeff Green type ability. He's very athletic (more athletic than Jeff) and fairly skilled (i.e., not a Macklin/Benimon type). The kid is not a chump, he was a McDonald's All American and a deserving one, and would be the most talented big on our roster next year.
I don't think he's gotten a fair shake at KSU -- it never seemed like a good fit with Frank Martin always preferring Jamar Samuels and Curtis Kelly at the 4 -- and generally just being an angry old man. I think JTIII could really help him, and build back the kid's confidence, that is all I am trying to say.
And let's not blame the kid for taking the advice of DC Assault leadership -- if you have any idea how AAU basketball works in this area you know that these kids are often pawns who have very little control over some of the major decisions that get made in their lives. It's a bit heartless to throw the kid under the bus for ending up at KSU, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Rutgers without much say about where he really wants to be. This says a lot more about the adults involved in youth hoops in this area than the kids.

Glad somebody finally said that - the stuff Valvano pulled on Long island when he was the Iona coach was something else - him and his little buddy Abatamarco. NCAA rules meant nothing to that guy.

Never give up--unless the player can't play, then give up on him/them, find a kid who can't read, and cheat to get him into school. let him snort all the coke needed, and pass him through when you can't control them. Never Give up---Just never give up.
