Our defensive rebounding and outside shooting have both sucked today.

Wright picked it up by going to the basket. Not hitting the outside shots, but encouraged by his determination.

A couple things: 1. Why are we letting them penetrate at all? ?Make them take some 3s or jump shots. As daytona said, we are getting ABUSED by a 6'6 sophomore on the interior. Inexcusable. Love what Sims has done this year, but he has been non-existent today. Even though Vaughn is also getting abused, he is the only big man who seems to be playing at all today. Lubick doesn't look good either. It's because we insist on making ourselves small with a four guard offense (with Hollis and Bennimon playing out of position at the 4). The 6-8 freshman, Melvin is like 10/13 FGs. And the 6-6 Freeland is having his way inside. Basically there is no help for the center, because our power forward (Hollis, Bennimon) is a non factor on interior defense.

We have Bennimon at Center now. Really?

There is zero excuse for our effort on the boards today

We have Bennimon at Center now. Really? Now I'm happy I can't watch...FREE MOSES! Even if just a minute to see if he can hold his own.

There is zero excuse for our effort on the boards today It's not about excuse. If you play 1 center and 4 guards/swingmen this is gonna happen. It's not about effort, it's about having a retarded lineup.

nah,
The dude that's killing us is 6-5. He's destroying everyone and he's not even good....There is no excuse for what Depaul's doing to us.

The last two possessions, Sims put his arms up, turned and boxed and guess what? He came up with rebounds. It's all about effort and playing the right way. No way a 6-5 guy should be tearing us up in the paint. No way

nah, The dude that's killing us is 6-5. He's destroying everyone and he's not even good....There is no excuse for what Depaul's doing to us. Melvin is 6-8. Freeland is 6-6. They both have mad ups. Something Bennimon lacks. And Hollis is not a power forward/inside player. So Melvin and Freeman are having a field day down low vs the 4 guard lineup. All they have to worry about is the center, who ends up getting sucked in to fouling when the coverage breaks down.

Doesn't matter what our line up is. You don't get abused like that by Freeland. He's 6'6 at best.
Luckily Depaul is horrible so we can get a lay up whenever we want.

I'm really with RDF right now...It's time to limit Julian's minutes. The guy is soft as charmin. Forget how soft he is on offense. He was destroyed defensively today and it really hurt us

If you play 4 guards and one center you are bound to get dominated down low unless you have someone huge like Dikembe. Hollis gets abused defensively playing the power forward. And is really a non factor on help interior defense and rebounding.

@ Professor,
Freeland did the bulk of his damage against Julian. And while Melvin's an athlete, Freeland isn't. He just plays extremely hard, and he's not skilled in the least. He's a back-up at best for us, or at least he should be. But he went to war today against our bigs and ate us up inside. ridiculous

He was destroyed defensively today and it really hurt us I would disagree. Alot of the reasons Juilan looks bad is because he is teamed up with Hollis. He basically has to cover for all of Hollis mistakes and ends up having to foul or looking bad. Lubick-Sims, Vaughn-Smiss, Lubick-Vaugh give the big men the best chance to shine. And I'm not even including Moses yet. It's not like we have a shortage of big men. There is no reason to play small ball.

I understand what you're saying but I disagree only because we've played Hollis at the 4 for much of the season and we have outrebounded a lot of teams. It's effort and energy.
