Hopefully We can get off the U. Need some national coverage. 1. ESPNU is national - whether you can get is is dependent on your local cable carrier. 2. If I'm running ESPN, I'm not putting Appalachian State on either of my first two channels opposite the NFL. Amen. I think we should be thankful that a Sunday morning game (in the stretch drive of the NFL season) against a lower level team on ESPNU and not MASN or something else. Is this what it's come to? Complaining about the TV coverage? How'd that national coverage with Sean "Jimmy B gives me a woody" McDonough work out for us?

knock on wood but I LOVE the free throw shooting from our team this year. Everyone has improved their FT% from last year besides Freeman - but he's still at 82%. Not too shabby!

The one downside about ESPNU is that for some reason that channel provides almost nothing in terms of statistics during the game, even though it uses all the same graphics as the main ESPN channels.

35 points from the bench, 60 points in the paint. Vee's line: 2-3 from the floor, 4 pts, 3 assists, 0 TO's, 3 steals in 13 minutes.

Amazing game.
Chris' assists. Both the number and quality were astounding. So many ridiculous passes. Really want to see him get to 17 assists to break the record for assists in a game.
The Dunks: Austin, Henry, Aaron, Lubick! Love to see guys throwing it down.
The Defense we held the second leading scorer in the NCAA to 14pts! Defense was very good today. Guards fought through screens more did a good job helping out today. A couple of break downs, but on the whole very good. Glad to hear coach say they worked on nothing but defense since the Temple game. It showed.

My pre-Christmas wish for the Hoyas: Give Moses at least 10 minutes and Vee at least 15 minutes against Loyola. As people have already noted, Moses looked very comfortable out there. I'll take it with a grain of salt because it was against App. St. but it's a good sign that he seems to have a good understanding of the offense already. Can't wait to see him start blocking some shots.

Also, nice to see Nate find Vee again on a nice cut to the hoop. It was in garbage time, basically, but still, his vision seems to be there, and I already think there's a chemistry developing w/ some of our freshmen/sophomores.

Just got back from VC. CW was unreal today with the assists. It looked like Braswell against New Zealand Select. Total command of the offense.
Starting to get a little concerned with the hands of JV and HS. Too often, they are not ready to catch passes. You can get away with fumbling it away against the likes of Temple and App St. Those mistakes will be magnified in BE play. Have to be stronger on both ends of the floor.
Hollis seemed to regain some confidence today, which is important for him. We need him to be productive during his time on the floor.
First glimpse of Moses: wow. Dude is jacked. And he played with intensity during his short stay on the court. I know it was just 2 minutes against App St., but he looked fluid on offense and made his physical presence known immediately on both ends. Wish we had him for Temple when our bigs were struggling.
As some people have pointed out earlier: it's great to see that we may have finally turned the corner as a team in terms of FT shooting. That will be absolutely critical come conference play when the games get tighter and the margin of error grows shorter.

Temple and App. St. are not the same caliber of program. Temple is as good as many Big East teams, which is why we couldn't get away with fumbling passes against them. App. St. is a low major (though KenPom has them about 100 spots higher in his rankings than everyone's favorite punching bag, DePaul, who I guess we can get away with fumbling passes against).

Good catch. Meant Utah St. We obviously didn't get away with anything against Temple. Bottom line is, they have to catch the damn ball. Cost CW at least a few more assists today.

And I agree with you--the bigs cost CW a shot at the record today and if they don't start catching those passes, it's going to come back to bite us in a close game, just like it did against Temple.

I think part of that will come as they build more offensive chemistry on the court. There were times when the timing was simply just off. Which is why I don't think its ridiculous for III to keep the starters in even when we are up big.

I don't know what pass I liked better from Chris - the behind the back or the threading the needle on that bounce pass to Austin. Besides that the team seemed to be passing very well. I think Chris's passing is contagious. That one from Nate to Henry was very good; too bad Henry missed the chippie.

I agree with our bigs needing to catch/hold the ball better, but I think it pertains more to JV than to Sims. Henry did have one bobble today, but a couple of times our guards have delivered the ball too low to expect him to catch it. Plus he does squeeze it better than JV.
JV is going to have to pick it up if we're going far. Don't need a lot of points from him, but he can't keep giving the ball away.

Very feel-good ending to a blowout game that for me was 2/3 spectacular, 1/3 sloppy. Particularly in the first half, there were some drives taken that weren't quite there in the finishing, and some attempted thread-the-needle bounce passes that went into too much congestion. App St also managed to grab a few too many offensive boards in both halves that we were tipping. Austin finished with decent numbers but didn't look that great at times. Three of his short-range conversions were especially good, but he missed on a couple where he didn't have good position and missed his 3s.
But otherwise outstanding, especially on defense (14 steals, 4 blocks, D Sims held way below his average) and of course the passes that did connect, especially from Chris, included some beauties. Even Nate and Henry got into it.
Best game from Hollis in some time, and best game yet from Nate.

Also, haven't noticed anyone commenting on Lubick's pass to a cutting AF (I think? May have been someone else?). First time I've seen that from him.

A comment about the low mid-majors we have played like App State, Wofford and Coastal Carolina. All of these teams have guys that can play ball and all are capable of upsetting us on a given day. These are not St. Leo's.
