Every team is looking to knock off a Top 10 team. Sometimes, to quote Judge Ito, "Shipp happens", like in the Temple game. From here on, every game will be a tough one against strong defenses and star players.
The question is: how do you keep on track, no matter who you play? Focus and concentration are often mentioned, for good reason; but, they're generalities. What about specifics?
Here are a few thoughts worth repeating. The goal is "one stop, one score" on every possession. Impossible? Perhaps, but it's the whole point of the game.
And that means, on defense, deny your man the ball. On offense, it means break for the basket, over and over again. At both ends, every rebound belongs to you; if you can't rip it, tip it and go get it again. Most importantly, it means play each possession as if it were the last one in the game.
Good luck Hoyas.

While this should be a good chance to get some minutes for the bench, our performance last night suggest that we have some things to work on that may limit those minutes. Hope we can clean it up early, get Vee, Markel, Moses and Aaron some experience.

Seems that ASU has played inconsistently but also has played tough against some decent teams. They are small and it might be time to concentrate on getting the post offense going.

okay can someone explain DMV?
I know Austin is from MD. I assume Clark is from VA since his HS is in VA. is Chris from the district though? A lot of st johns kids (his HS) are from MD or VA.
Just curious if these all hold true.

Guard him with Jason, Vee, Markel and/or Hollis. Stop penetration. It sometimes looks like that's easier said than done with this group.

yeah basically they're just counting where the kids went to school rather than where they live to make it work.

Two questions crossed my mind.
1. If the Hoyas play a full-court pressure defense and a fast-paced, three-guard offense, how does JTIII substitute to keep fresh players on the floor at all times?
2. If other teams try to take Austin Freeman out of the flow by shadowing him all over the floor, how does JTIII keep him fresh and in the action? Roy Hibbert and Greg Monroe were somewhat neutralized when they posted down low. They got back into the game as real forces when JTIII put them on the high post.
Like I said, they're questions without answers yet.
Go Hoyas.
