Per today's Post, Britt expected to announce Carolina tomorrow. Too bad - would have loved to had a Purple Eagle suit up for the Hoyas tinyurl.com/7ntxhu6Cool, another decorated DC point guard headed to the bench on Tobacco Road. Just like Tyler Thornton and Quinn Cook before him. At what point do these guys start to figure out that the bill of goods being sold to them isn't worth it? Never.

Cool, another decorated DC point guard headed to the bench on Tobacco Road. Just like Tyler Thornton and Quinn Cook before him. At what point do these guys start to figure out that the bill of goods being sold to them isn't worth it? to be fair, Thornton is average just under 18 minutes per game this season, only 4 minutes fewer than markel. Both averaged about 9.5 minutes last season. Quinn Cook is at 7.6 after 4 games. also, who said Tyler or Quinn expected lots of PT in year one. what bill of goods was expressly sold? and this is from a bona fide duke hater (hated duke even before the hoyas became my squad) None, just talk. Nolan Smith sat on the bench so much he was drafted in the first round. Kendall Marshall finished his freshman season at UNC as the starter. Thornton hit the two biggest shots of his life to seal Duke's Maui Classic win over Kansas. Cook - much like Markel last season - is learning and his time will come as will Britt's at UNC.

I'm sorry, we've lost it as a fan base if we're going to criticize a PG going to UNC. Roy Williams's offense features PGs arguably more than any other school. In fact, there was a grantland article about how the PG position at UNC is the single most important position in all of college basketball (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7114532/why-north-carolina-tar-heels-win-national-championship). Disagree with it if you want, but no one will say that about PGs in our offense. In fact, one of our more astute posters stated just a few weeks ago that a PG is not necessary in our offense. We shouldn't be criticizing a PG going to UNC, a combo guard going to Duke, or a 1 and done guy going to Kentucky. They're just picking the offense that features them the most. It's why versatile 3/4s should be lining up to play for us.
The one guy I think will get lost in the mix is Quinn Cook. I don't know why, I just think he's going to end up behind Thornton just because of Thornton's defense and is going to find opportunities limited at the combo guard spot that guys like Rivers, Rasheed Sulaimon, and whomever comes after that will inhabit.

Terp fans chanting "Nate Britt Sucks" at the ESPN microphone during the Maryland/Illinois game. Audibly and repeatedly. Stay classy and enjoy the continued disintegration of your athletics program, Twerps.

Random, but I'm watching the MD-Illinois game and I distinctly hear the MD fans chant "Nate Britt Sucks Nate Britt Sucks.". Guessing he's at the game and they're a little bitter. MD class.

OK, so we all agree that Britt is an amazing talent. Can we stop posting in his thread now that he has committed elsewhere?

There isn't anything amazing about a 19 year old Jr in HS. Nothing. This is something that nobody likes to discuss when evaluating players but it does matter. It's like the "love" Mitch McGary gets--he's friggin 20 years old--he should be outplaying 17 year old. Geez. Britt is a marginal guard and chose a place he'll fit in nicely--UNC doesn't demand defense and they'll surround him with talented players to hide his deficiencies. That's ACC basketball.

It's like the "love" Mitch McGary gets--he's friggin 20 years old--he should be outplaying 17 year old. Well, I sort of can see it both ways. While it's definitely true that a 19 yr old junior should be better than a 17 year old, doesn't the same thing go for a 21 year old freshman vs a 19 yr old freshman, or a 24 year old senior vs a 22 year old senior? It certainly limits their prospects in the NBA, but when a player's athletic prime is around 27, I think it's possible that that age advantage will help throughout the college career. It's like Al Thornton for FSU--he was a dominant senior in college because he was a 25 year old man matched up with 18-20 year old kids. Guys who are young for their class like Roy and Greg are a boon for NBA teams, but I'm not sure it necessarily helps the college team. Though I can see a counterargument that marginal improvement decreases, so a 17 year old junior should improve more in 2 years than a 19 year old junior.

Best part of Britt/Maryland angle is that their cult of fans who think Dalonte Hill is "Tebow", are now saying it won't matter because they'll get Harrison twins. Yep--and Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, Nerlens Noel, too--don't leave them out. LMAO
