Am I the only one who thinks this season of Justified is pretty damn blah? I think the plotlines were a lot tighter last season, with one main enemy - the Bennets - but I think it'll all come together. Quarles is really creepy but I feel like the weak link this season is Limehouse, who they haven't really developed enough. They've gotten some really good supporting performances though - the guy who played Icepick was really good, the pawn shop owner was really good, and they wrote Winona out just as she was getting annoying. It might not be as amazing as last season, but other than The Challenge, it's the show I most look forward to every week. I agree with the latest Grantland post, I think it's time to stop setting up the storylines and start executing. A little too much speechifying for my taste so far (but no shortage of good lines --“I don’t care about kicker on kicker crime" ;D). I've only periodically watched Archer over the past year or two, but I caught up on this season over the weekend, and I must say, I'm having fourth and fifth thoughts about how good of a show it is. I'm going to have to go back and find the first two (?) seasons.

TC -- I love Happy Endings quite a bit, and I think it runs neck-and-neck with Community as my fave. H.E. is the love child of Seinfeld and Friends. It was positively brilliant last fall, but I have not been quite as amused with most of this winter's episodes. Felt like they were trying too hard or something like that. That said, I could easily enjoy rewatching any episode and could feel differently.
The cast on HE is one of the bright spots. Damon Wayans Jr kills it every episode. Eliza Coupe was one of my faves on the last two seasons of Scrubs and I am really happy that she found a good home. And while Casey Wilson sometimes is a little grating (the catch phrase stuff doesn't do it for me), I enjoyed her on SNL and also enjoy her here.

Am I the only one who thinks Parks and Rec is down recently? The Tom/Anne storyline is absolutely ridiculous and I hate it.

They are struggling to manage the expanded cast. I just don't look forward to it the same way I do 30 Rock or the Office. The Leslie Knope candidate storyline is part of the problem. The joke was always that Knope took herself too seriously . . . now that piece of the humor is gone (except when they, say, have the entire campaign team try to walk across the ice to the podium). But it is a very talented cast and writing team, so I am confident they'll find their legs again (once this stupid storyline is over).

The candidate story isn't really working that well, and they have no idea what to do with Ann since Ben took her role as the straight man to Leslie. That being said, there's still a lot of funny bits--the focus groups, April getting drunk, Jerry in the bath. It's hard to maintain the level they were at for the past season or so, and they're clearly stumbling a bit, but I think they still have the talent level to pick it back up.

I think there's a lot of election material they could use - I mean, I think of Sideshow Bob running for Mayor of Springfield and how awesome that episode is - but they are doing this intentionally avoiding any partisan joke or even any appearance of partisan joke - which makes it very hard to make the election funny.

Well, I'm still not sold on this season of Justified, but at least they brought in one of my favorite character actors of all time, Max Perlich.
Seriously, that guy had been great for years in everything he does, from cameos to guest bits to full-time supporting roles. In TV and movies.
OK, maybe not the greatest range in the world, but he's still entertaining as hell.
Also, what happened to Carla Gugino? Was she just supposed to be in the one episode? That kinda' sucks.

Poor, deluded Shane.
Love will drive a man crazy, even in the zombie apocalypse.
And I am really hoping that "Redneck Jedi" becomes at least as popular, if not much more so, as "manic pixie dream girl" as a phrase to describe a character archetype.

In an episode with lots of great dialogue, the Justified line of the week goes to Art: "You have to go through this every time? It's exhausting."

I haven't watched yet, either, but the last few episodes have been pretty darn good, I thought.

[ Spoilers] Anyway, the fact that Boyd has Benimon/Nikita esque roster depth probably doesn't excuse some of his decision making (really more so early on than later). That being said, it could be explained by arrogance, since he's been outmaneuvering Quarles the entire season. That setup was still kind of a reach. The Platoon reference was pretty awesome though.

Did anyone else think there's the possibility they might have thrown us a headfake in the end? Without ruining the ending - we never actually saw what Johnny said happened.
Also, this is the only show I know that can turn the phrase "big stupid baby head" into great dialogue.

Also, this is the only show I know that can turn the phrase "big stupid baby head" into great dialogue. Maybe. The only problem is that why would it have been someone else besides who Johnny said? The preview seemed to make it clear that what Johnny said was what happened (and Justified previews aren't like Mad Men's where they are meant to confuse rather than preview). And I just can't figure out a reason who would have done it besides who Johnny said did it.
