No threads to him yet this season, might as well make the first one positive!
Great game last night Chris! You lead the team as well as any floor general under JTIII!
"That was not a challenge," Thompson said with a laugh. "I just knew. It's his understanding of what we need from him coupled with he's playing with some guys that can put the ball in the basket. So I say it here, now, 12 is not going to be the most assists he's going to have over the course of this year."
I'm excited for those games when he has more then 12 assists!!!

I don't recall any bad fast breaks either. That pass to AF on the break for the reverse was beautiful.

And a couple of his passes were dropped/fumbled! He could have easily had 15. Best court vision and decision making I have seen from Chris. Let's hope JTIII is right about Wright. Wright On!

For all the grumbling on this board about CW - and he certainly has had his mistakes during his career - he is the right guy to lead this group. He can take us to great things, and his continued maturity will carry us a long way.

Monroe's called himself various moose-related nicknames for at least the last couple of years. Did you never see him put up the moose antlers over his head during some of the pre-game intros last year?

Nice progression to the season for CW. I have always been a big supporter of the kid and I love to see how his game has transitioned to a shoot first, scoring PG, to a more complete PG who can dish, drive and shoot. There will still be games where he will have to out up some scoring numbers, but this pass first approach will help the team immensely this season. One of the Big 3 was going to have to give up shots, I am glad Chris seems to have embraced this role. And as always, I value Chris's effort on defense more than anything else.

Chris Wright has been brilliant the last 3 halves--and best part of it--he's getting it---his comments were nice to read/hear--but the fact he's carried it out onto the court--tremendous growth and leadership. Haven't seen a questionable FGA from him last 3 halves and just in total control of the game---and on both ends of the court--talking/hustling, and leading.
Great thread--and deserved. Keep it up!

I do recall seeing him put his fingers up like antlers, but I never got the connection. Well.. you know what... he's right! I can only imagine the conversations those guys had over the years about hoops, PG's, passing and so forth. Greg was our best-passing big man ever. Nice to see he has influenced Chris and remains a supportive teammate from afar.

the best part of the nc state game was at some point in the second half when Chris was bringing the ball up and I realized I felt the same confidence in our pg that I used to when JWall used to bring it up
that's probably the best compliment I can imagine paying any pg

I just love it everytime Chris cuts towards to hoop, sees that his path is obstructed, and then dribbles back out to set up a play. Two years ago, and even much of last year, he just barrelled into contact, launched the ball, and seemed to pray for a foul call. Now, he seems to pick his spots to drive, and when the lane isn't there, he let's the offense do its thing. He's showing a lot of maturity so fat this year.

There was one point during our second half run when Chris was on the bench for a short rest, and we scored and were heading back on defense, when I saw CW standing up, yelling and slapping a towel repeatedly against the floor to exhort his teammates. I remember thinking that his intensity and his leadership are now infusing this whole team, and should only mean great things for our Hoyas.

I can't believe CW is a senior already. Where has the time gone? Actually, that's the same way I felt when I was a senior...

Agreed...it seems as if he has realized that he has the quickness to drive in and right back out again unscathed and has applied that to his game! Its crazy seeing Chris running around in the lane while it seems like everyone else is getting into position around him in slow motion

To keep the Wright praise going, Chris made a comment via twitter last night that was brought to my attention and made me realize he's "getting it". It was in regard to how Chris Paul can "control the entire game without having to shoot/score". You are getting it young fella---that is exactly what you can do/should do as a great player, leader, and point guard!!!
Take that role and let the game dictate how you play--some nights you'll have hot hand, need to score, but don't forget about teammates and get them looks, and always know--you are in control of the game when you have the ball--but also without it--and as poster above mentioned--his leadership/encouragement of teammates is what has been huge for this year's team.
Great play from Chris and key is to stay consistent and dont' let a setback change the way you play/see things--if Chris/team keeps playing as hard/together as they have--they'll be in contention. Just so happy to see Chris say something like he did about Chris Paul--because that is something that takes a good player/good team to level they have chance to be great---understanding the impact of game without the need to score. Leads to unselfish ball--which leads to WINNING/CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION!
