While it is disappointing that Julian is not traveling for the Charleston Classic, I hope Henry makes the most of this opportunity!
Do your best Henry! As Lic would say, "Be Mean!"

I'm a little to a lot scared about us not having Julian starting for us at center for an extended period of time.
Henry, please help me be less scared. Opportunity comes in strange ways. Make the most of it.
This goes for Lubick and Benimon as well. Time to sack up.

Lic would never say anything as coherent and grammatically correct as, "Be mean!" ;D And we would never want him to. If you can forgive me for resurrecting a somewhat phased out rallying cry, however, I would say that this would be an optimal time for Henry to go and grab himself a banana smoothie.

Its going to put more pressure on our guards.
Julian's absence may also help out guys like Sanford whose points will be needed even more to help take the load off of Freeman, Wright and Clark.
I think what Henry can do is just watch what Nate and Benimon do on the court.
Julian is our only front court player with some stype of refined offensive game.
I think Henry trying to do exactly what Julian does will get him and our team into trouble.
But with Henry's height and athleticism, he can at least focus on rebounding, blocking shots, etc. that will help us and is much needed.

Chuck it from the cheap seats and crash the glass with Henry & Lubick. Hollis will need to step up too.

Agree with Way, Henry has to stay within himself and not try to do too much. Defense, boards, maybe a couple of putbacks will do just fine.

We did OK with the lineup and subs on monday, so it will have to work this weekend. III will have a few days to get ready to play with the new lineup. 3 guards and bigs by committee.

One thing that always holds true in sports--if you are willing to stick around, an opportunity to play/make your impact will ALWAYS be there. Doesn't matter what sport--if you tough it out and keep working, you'll get an opportunity, this is Henry Sims chance to make his mark and get into the steady rotation. If he plays as hard as he did the other night--he'll see his results match his effort and will help the team/get more confidence. Just keep fighting and PLAY HARD! That's all anyone wants--be prepared and play hard as you can--and nobody will say a negative thing.
As for the team--these setbacks can make/break a team--and this group--it's going to make them better/tougher. When Vaughn/Moses return--you have a deeper team and it's a team that will be prepared to deal with injury, illness, foul trouble, etc.....and nobody has to be putting up double/doubles (although if you feel like it Henry--feel free ;D), just play hard and keep fighting!
Henry's got his chance--and I hope he takes the time and proves he's deserving of playing more when others return!

I really feel that Henry will play well while JV is out and continue the solid play after he returns because JT3 has finally stopped playing him at the 4 spot. That position did not suit him well at all and it showed each time he stepped on the court.
I never understood why 3 would sub him in for JV and then have Greg move to the 5 and send Henry to the 4. He was a jittery turnover machine at that position.. The kid has played approx 30 minutes at the 5 spot this year and only has 1 TO.
I admit he hasn't lit up the scoreboard but he doesn't need to right now, I can see him chipping in 7-8 ppg by seasons end though. As many people have pointed out he just looks very comfortable out there which is a huge upgrade from last year... The 5 spot is his natural position in this offense..

He was definitely altering some shots against Tulane in the limited time he saw. With more playing time that comfort level should go up and he could be a force in that area.
I also want to see him get more confident with the posting up. I nearly fell out of my seat when he scored on that post up but he never really went back to it the rest of the game.

So at least twice against Tulane Henry got the ball 5 feet from the basket with a single shorter defender on him. Both times he passed up a shot. I guess I have mixed feelings about this - I'd like to see him have the confidence and ability to take those shots, but on the other hand he hasn't yet shown that he should be anything but the 4th or 5th offensive option when he is on the floor. Kind of a chicken and egg thing.

Henry never needs to be a primary option. If he can get to the point where he can give us 5-6 points on a couple of putbacks, along with 6 boards and a couple of blocks or alterations, he is a plus.

Kind of a chicken and egg thing. Disagree. He got the ball with a single defender on him the first time and scored. After that they doubled down and clogged the middle whenever he got the ball down on the block. His kick outs resulted in two assists. I don't remember these events where he had a single defender on him that close to the basket. There was always at least one other defender sagging off their man to clog the middle.

I believe the lic-appropriate term is "meanery." As in: GO GO Henry Bring the MEANERY!!!!!! As far as I know, "meanery" can be used as a noun, adjective, or adverb. Possibly more.

Henry will be fine. He is going to have good and bad moments, but the key is to stick with him and not bench him too quickly. Big John was great at taking a player out, settling him down and putting him right back in. It worked more often than not. Key will be foul trouble because between Henry, Nate and Jerelle we have 15 fouls for two positions. They just need to play solid defense and box out. I really believe that full court pressure with our cadre of guards can help take some of the pressure off the remaining big guys on defense. Also think that this weekend is a great opportunity for Hollis and Vee to take a major step forward in contributing to the offensive and defensive flow. Win or lose, I see the weekend as a great opportunity for the younger players to develop.
