“If guys don’t make it into the NBA what do they do after college?” he asks. “What type of job do they have, how do colleges treat their players, do they have a good relationship between the coaches and players and academics are also important.”
“Georgetown is one, after college if they don’t make it into the league they get good jobs. They help with the team by working them out and coaching. ” Someone -- his aunt and uncle maybe? - has been doing a great job of letting this kid in on the realities of life. And, he's been getting a great, insider's view of GU, our Hoops alumni, coaches... he won't be getting any better info or insights anywhere else as he will here... due to his Auntie, Pops and JT3. Man I hope this kid ends up a HOYA!

Agreed SirSaxa...Troy really seems to have his head on straight.
Another plus about Georgetown for basketball players, that isn't mentioned throughout recruiting, is our success recently at sending players overseas and continuing their careers. Pretty much every player that has played major minutes under JTIII at Georgetown is playing basketball, even if it is overseas. Plus when they are ready to hang up the shoes, they still have that Georgetown degree and the experiences basketball has given them.
Yes we may not get our guards to the NBA but our guards are leading top European squads.

If we recruit NBA guards, they will get in the league. JWall got a look and he was an Ivy recruit and Gtown walk-on. Chris & Austin didn't get into the league yet. Nor did Scottie Reynolds, Corey Fisher, Corey Stokes and my guess is Maalik Wayns & Dominic Cheek won't sniff the league either. All were McD's players! Perception is reality and I think our own people (primarily on this board), overstate certain aspects of our system while downplaying others.

If you possess NBA talent--you will get selected. If you are a borderline prospect who works hard--you'll get a chance. If you choose to eat junkfood, goof off, and play on 1 end--you'll have to prove you're serious about basketball. Doesn't mean you can't make it--just means you have to work harder and earn it.

You forgot Duke boy-wonders and top 5 recruits Jon Scheyer and Paulus.

Any top 5 (Paulus was #1 and JS was #4) recruit wants to/should have a shot at the NBA. That's if they're coached up to have all-around games. Not at Duke...

hey, it can't hurt.. espn.go.com/blog/high-school/boys-basketball/post/_/id/503/kings-of-the-contact-periodBest gear: Georgetown Troy Williams, Phoebus (Hampton, Va.), 2013, SF: “Definitely had to be Georgetown because they wear Jordan everything. The shoes were just fresh and the sweat suits they had were cool. I told them I like to ball in Nike's, but I walk around in J's. They had on the new Melo’s (Carmelo Anthony) and they weren’t tied all the way up.”

Sounds like he had a really good visit to Kentucky. They and UNC scare me. Apparently Calapari and Boo are buddies. Hope he becomes a hoya.

What are the chances he pops at MM. Troy is the crown jewel of the class of '13. He is the recruit that I want the most in his class and from what Ive heard he is a NBA talent. Can't miss prospect. Im going to check him out in person this upcoming season.............

Time to move TROY back to the top of the list for WINGS. We have Bowen, Porter, Whittington and DSR at the 2/3 spots. Trawick too. That is a LOT of talent for those spots. We'll miss TJ, but it's our deepest position.
Troy coming in 2013 would be much better timing for us and for him.
TROY!! Come join you auntie on the hilltop!

Playing style is going to be the hurdle here. We know what's in our favor with Troy.
Open things up this year (doesn't have to be drastic but does have to be visible) and you increase your chances some more. Especially when UNC and UK are with us atop his list.

Yeah seems like Us, UK and UNC are the three main schools. Honestly not overly optimistic about our chances. Did worry that taking TJ would further hinder our chances from landing Troy. Would really like to see us make a push for the 2013 guys now.
