It sounds like MM is going to be off the charts this year in terms of prospects, which is great news. It may not mean anything in the long run, but it's certainly better than not having these kids come.
Anyone who thinks we are going to start pulling commitments from 2012 kids right after MM is dreaming. It would be fantastic to get one. Which means you take Hood if he wants to come, absolutely without question. He would be our #1 recruit for the year. Also, who says we are leading for all of those 2012 kids? You absolutely take the bird in the hand when he is a top prospect. I would rather have another top big kid, but that ain't happening. I do agree with Sir Saxa, though, that I would save the scholarship for 2012 rather than give it to someone who is marginal at best.

To reiterate the obvious, if Hood wants to come, you take him in a millisecond without any other consideration. It seems as though any time we get a little recruiting momentum some people start in with the hypothetical scenarios where we end up with 5 Top 50 kids who all want to commit at the same time, and we're forced to choose among them. Practically, this never happens. We're about a month removed from having 0 recruits committed at all and all the nail biting and hand wringing that went along with that. Now we snapped up Trawick and Hopkins and we're talking about whether or not we'd accept a verbal from Hood? C'mon. It's a no-brainer.
Also, I would bet just about anything that between next spring and the spring after that we will lose at least one, more likely two and maybe even more guys to transfer. Not naming names, but I don't think it's that hard to see. We've got 12 scholarship players this year and III usually rotates like 8. There will be a few odd men out. With the additions of Trawick and now Hopkins, I think it's pretty clear that next season there will be a similar situation. By the time the current junior class graduates, we will have lost 1 or 2 additional guys to transfer. Therefore, there will be more than 2 scholarships open for the 2012 class, even if we fill up in 2011.

Last yeaer we heard about the need to hold scholarships for 2011 because we were going to have a very strong class lead by Christmas. Did not happen--at least so far-- and it seems foolish to build for the future based upon assumptions of what a 17 year old might do in a year. However, assuming that the choice is a "marginal" prospect this year or taking a chance for next year, I would also opt for waiting. Remember though that a marginal prospect to the recruiting services might turn out to be another Jon Wallace in our system.

Rodney Hood is type of player that is ideal/prototype of what Georgetown wants/should want. He's a 6'7-6'8 player who can play SG, SF, and some Point Guard. He's a wonderful offensive player and his presence would be same that Jeff Green did for III with PF spot-that so many players mention as a reason they love the "system"--aka Monroe, what Hopkins said, etc.....but now you'd have a high profile wing player-that really the program has lacked since Summers played there his FR season.
Hood is a guy who is a top 10 talent--and people forget that at one point he was considered the top player or in running to be top player in this class--as he was at the high profile camps as a HS Frosh. Guy is an NBA talent and there is no debate you take him if he wants to come.
It's a very impressive job by GU staff to get him on a visit-they had to battle to earn a spot and if he came-it would be the most impressive recruit I've seen III pull--due to where he's had to come from and how he'd have rallied the '11 recruiting class. That's caliber of player Hood is.
Seeing the '12 class visitors is very strong and to have them all see a lot of talent and their interest in Georgetown (face it--these kids have numerous options/invites to go anywhere for MM) is important too--so they know that other great prospects will be in the program and have serious interest/form friendships--often it happens on visits, so good move to get as many great players as you can on campus for the event.

The 2011 class isn't done, whether we land Hood or not (and if we do, BIG kudos to III and Kirby for pulling it off). I think you have to assume at least another kid no matter what for 2011 (I would take one more).
Right now, Ochefu is our Christmas of 2012. High on us early. Who knows how it will play out? (my guess is better this time). I think we should be targeting Anderson and Ochefu the hardest (they are both fantastic players and we have a real shot at landing both of them). Drummond is more of a long shot, even with UConn's self-imposed sanctions. If we land Ochefu, I don't think we need another big like Bolden or Parker (although I would like either if we lose out on Ochefu).
Robinson seemed to be the new Bishop Daniels of the recruiting board (a guy everyone is high on right now). I've seen him a couple times and I do think he is someone the Hoyas should be pursuing. But he wouldn't be my top priority. Keeping the local pipeline flowing is also a good idea.
Let's hope Ochefu and Anderson come out of MM feeling like this:

From reading a couple interviews Kyle wants to go to a school that will play him at the point guard/point guard role. I don't think he'd mind playing point forward in our system. He and his dad have talked to JTIII about the role he envisions Kyle playing and they both seem happy with what they hear. Just like when he visited with Greg, his mom and his coach. Great job, JT3. Show him the love. Kyle is a perfect fit. I think his versatility and overall game will bring something to our offense we have never seen before.

Great work by our staff. We need a good yield out of this MM. Seems to me this is one of the most talent-rich MMs we've had recently. Great job.

I am trying to harness the excitement of what the 2012 class could yeild as I lick my 2011 recruiting wounds.
Out of curiousity....anyone remember who showed up at MM last year? I heard something about Cook being in attendance....but that was never confirmed. Goodman was there. Not sure about Christmas. Roscoe was not there...but Jordan O was.
If everyone who says they are coming atually show up...this would constitute and unbeleivable turnout.

RDF - I remember Hood's AAU teammate LaQuinton Ross being at the very top of the class. I don't rememer Hood being that high. Hood seemed to be in Ross's shadow's until approximately a year ago. Since then Hood had a great summer and has continued to climb the rankings.
Regardless, I agree with you...Hood is a hell of player and would love to have him in this class.

Sorry Lic ... but actually the Bhullar brothers will be at WVU's MM and visit GU on sat. - Still cool to at least get a visit. I'm Happy with J. Trawick (Maybe he can convince Savon Goodman and Amile Jefferson to come) , Mr. Anderson and Mr. Ochefu . Hopefully Hopkins can bring James Robinson 2012 , Jerami Grant 2012 , Jairus Lyles 2013 , BeeJay Anya 2013 and Kelvin Howard 2013 along from Dematha. I doubt Rodney Hood makes it to the Hilltop without popping for either Fla. St or L'Ville in the next couple days <-- just my gut feeling. I'm sure we'll have a few unexpected guest and younger prospects as well . I'm attempting to get to DC this Friday , but it's not looking good as of now due to work. Hopefully a few board members can fill us all in with the juicy details.

I believe Savon Goodman will be at Villanova's MM.
We should be more than ecstatic with a group that solely consists of Anderson and Ochefu plus the commits. Any one else is icing on the cake.
