I say take Hood and save 3 for the next year. I'm just Editeded because I feel that we threw some scholarships away imo!

I say we take 1 more this year (whether it be a SF (Hood/Katenda) or a C (Robertson/TJO) and 3 next year. The talent is ridiculous next year and we have seemingly exceptionally strong leads.
I realize the Christmas and Ty examples demonstrate painfully that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but the remaining birds this year aren't all that attractive compared to the 2012 birds in the bush.

Do we really need Hood? Yeah, we do. He's a skilled 6'7 kid that can shoot and facilitate. He's Top 30 in his class. Not a kid you hope has mutual interest and it works out. You put the full court press on him.
Ideally, you land Hood...have 3 to give out for 2012 and land two bigs and a PG. but, that's in a perfect world.. ..
hardwood, just curious, threw away on who?
...
JOB was always a long shot, we weren't on him a year in advance.
Rakeem was a big loss, and it sure seems like we had put in the work. But we lost Cox and that ended up being a factor for both he and Ty Johnson. do we land them if he's here? don't know, but it didn't help.
Time will tell, but I think we're getting back on the right track.

alleninxis--aren't the 5 players I mentioned above top 30 in their class (arguably?) So, by your logic, we can't pass on them either. Hood is a Wing, and if he came, we would have a junior hollis and aaron bowen locking that position. So, is the decision to just recruit over AB? Or, wait a year, and take Kyle Anderson, who can learn from a senior hollis (if he isn't in the NBA) and a junior AB. I understand Hood is good, but I am thinking about immediate needs and SF may not be one---but this all depends on AB.

Yes, take Hood if he wants to come. He would be a great fit and would compete for PT immediately. Hollis can play several positions including the 2,3, and 4, if need be.

Ochefu is not 100% just yet, just said he's "pretty sure" he'll be there. Don't believe Kuran is going anywhere. It's official now: " DanielOchefu23 gonna be at the hilltop for midnight madness " Awesome, HSB.

Don't forget we are listed by 2012's #1 player Drummond. Even if he's a one-&-done, I would take him.

Just a week or two ago we were worried about getting anyone. Now we want to decide which Top 30 kids we will accept?
First ones who wants to commit should get the slots. OK, maybe you only accept one more wing... first one to commit. But we'd also have to take the first Big who commits... assuming he is someone we really, really want.
Hopkins is a "big", but he isn't a power big... a tough, rebounding, defense, 4/5. Doesn't mean he can't make a big contribution, but he needs a companion tough guy.
If Hood amazes us and ends up saying YES to GU....take him in a second!

Completely agree with SirSaxa. These posters are getting nuts. Of course we want Hood. And he can definitely play the 2. Take the best players that commit the earliest and don't try to set up the perfect team position wise. If you want to dream though, just imagine getting Hood, Ochefu or Jordan O, Amile or Savon and Kyle Anderson. That makes the shortest guys on our team in 2012, Markel Starks at 6'0, Vee at 6'3 and Bowen and Trawick at 6'5. Our "backup" pg would be 6'8. That's pretty ridiculous.

Would Anderson really play PG in college?

Take what we need for 2011. 2012 is too far in the future to count on anyone, as 2011 showed.

Slow down D-myles calling the post nuts. The point is, if we can land commitments from Bolden, Ochefu, Anderson and Robinson/DSR, Do we take those, or do we tell one of them "no" and take Hood if he says he wants in. Yes, I know, a lot can change--I am just merely stating we seem to be the favorites of several of the 2012 guys and if the coaches hear from those guys that they will commit, do we take a 4th 2012 guy over a third 2011 guy. Just strategy here....yes, of course we want Hood, but we also want the 2012 guys. I don't care what the coaches decide (assuming all the above want to come) because I trust they make the right decisions. If Hood comes--that's amazing. If DSR-Robinson-Anderson-Bolden-Ochefu come, that's amazing too.

if hood wants to come you DEFINITELY take him.....long kid who can flat out shoot....
we have no guarantees for '12. If we don't get hood i agree to save the ships though not waste it on a non impact guy.

The more top guys who come to MM, the more excitement for the program overall. All those young kids seeing their peers there too? Has to make it more exciting. More desirable. But, as The Ambassador stated, all this excitement needs to converted to actual commitments. I for one am hoping for the BEST!!

Anyone have data on players who verballed/signed on at GU whether they attended MM and what was the time frame from MM to receiving their verbal?

Anyone have data on players who verballed/signed on at GU whether they attended MM and what was the time frame from MM to receiving their verbal? Let me go into the Midnight Madness Database and I will pull that right up for you.
