Yeah what worries me is not that he doesn't have the talent, but that he might not have the motor for it. To be honest, he kind of sounds like Hopkins, maybe with more perimeter skills. But I'm just wondering how it's going to work with two face up 4's with all the talent in the world but maybe not the motor for it.
But hopefully there's some other explanation about it, and this kid goes back to playing the way that got him so much attention in the first instance.

I think people have gotten a little too down on Hopkins. He certainly didn't meet expectations for his senior season at Dematha but he has shown a lot of talent in the past for them and on the AAU circuit. Lets not give up on him before he walks in the door. If he has the desire, he could still be a stud.
Bolden, on the other hand, we don't know much about other than the fact that he had an extremely lackluster junior season. He still has a chance to prove himself on the AAU circuit this summer, but sooner or later, he really needs to show something.

Clearly needs more touches. Another kid that if motor is an issue then hopefully the comp GU will bring it out. If not, he'll get left behind.

Keep in mind that Greg Monroe was always knocked for not having the motor. It was why he dropped from the #1 recruit his year coming out of high school and it's what people were saying went he went to the NBA draft. I don't think the Pistons are worrying about his motor right now and I know I never worried while he was at GU. I'll take plenty more guys with supposed "motor problems" if they play like Greg. Not saying Hopkins or Bolden are the same players as Greg, but only that motor problems in high school senior years are not necessarily indicative of how they play in college and later.

Even if he comes and goes at times, Hopkins has produced previously.
Bolden's issue at this point, is we've never heard or seen of any production.

This is a pointless comparison because if Bolden was half as productive as Monroe was in HS nobody would be complaining. I don't care how poor your effort is - if Bolden was as talented as some people seem to think (or at least thought a year ago) he wouldn't be scoring in double digits once a season.

This kid doesn't have it period. If he can't average double-digit points in a bad high school league, what makes you think he can do anything in the Big East? We need to move on and he needs to find a better fit.

I know everyones hesitating to really come down on this kid yet...but this is getting a little disturbing. Have we ever seen a stat line from him thats shown double digits in either points or rebounds? Right now, he's not earning a scholarship.

Best case scenario we don't bring him in.

Best case scenario we don't bring him in. Definitely would not hurt to have 2 scholarships available for a deep, talented 2012 class.

Best case scenario we don't bring him in. I would think the best case scenario is he turns into a monster in the next year and dominated college basketball. Having to drop him due to him not performing/developing is hardly the best thing that could happen, but obviously preferable to bringing in a dud.

Best realistic scenario we don't bring him in. Best totally unrealistic scenario is he turns into a monster.

From Rivals:
Brandon Bolden (2012, Team Florida)- A promising prospect, Bolden is the prototypical wiry, long, athletic four-man with a developing skill game. If he applies himself in the weight room and is serious about his skill development, he will have a successful career at Georgetown.

From CourtCred:
Players To Watch
Brandon Bolden Team FL: The 6'9 forward looked good running the floor end to end. His length and timing comes in handy when he defends players that hold more weight than he does. The fact that he is a left handed player plays a factor on defense.

Thats something we havent thought about in considering Bolden not the best '12 recruit. Maybe he will be a defensive specialist for us? Needs to definitely hit the weight room.

I know some don't want to hear it, but - trust the staff. They did not recruit this kid and get an early commitment without seeing great potential.

The kid is going to have to leap frog quite a few guys on the depth chart in order to see the court. He and Hopkins will likely battle it out for garbage time. Hope one or both of of these guys can surprise.
