last 2 games for Brandon:
4 pts and 5 rebounds in a blowout loss to Oak Hill (a blowout being understandable)
8 points, 8 rebounds, a block and a steal in a win over Virginia Episcopal
The Andrew White kid that is Brandon's teammate and that Dave Telep says covets a G'Town offer seems to have put together a solid year.

He covets FGA's too--and so do the mediocre guards on that team. Bolden is a talent who isn't being utilized enough and I expect him to shine this Spring/Summer when he's able to show his skill set/complete game off.

Brandon may have put up his season high yesterday with 16 as Miller School won opening round VISSA D-1 play-off game; maybe his coach is finally figuring out how to use him. Game story link below; highlight of article this line: "After Miller (17-11) drew St. Christopher’s outside in the first quarter, 6-foot-10 Georgetown recruit Brandon Bolden began working his magic inside. Bolden scored nine points in the second stanza, finishing the game with 16." Miller School likely to get clocked tonight by No. 1 seed Blue Ridge in quarters, which I think will be end of their season . . . www2.dailyprogress.com/sports/2011/mar/02/miller-moves-will-face-blue-ridge-ar-876893/

Miller School has some horrible guards and some gunners trying to get to next level. Andrew White is a nice player--but Grayson Gunner (really his name) is a guy who is known to jack them up and why would you ever want to utilize a 6'10 athletic big when you have mid major to low major guards who love to jack?

Very consistent with what I saw in December for the Miller School (coach looked totally uninterested in coaching/stopping mindless run and miss offense), and by looks of their record (and BB's stats), bet you are exactly right as to what has happened all year -- at least until last night. Bet Brandon cannot WAIT until AAU season starts . . .
Great name on Gunner though -- rivals former USGA president Walter Driver on the appopros name front . . .

Any chance Bolden transfers to another h.s. for his senior year?

“I watched Notre Dame put down like 20 [3-pointers] last night and I said, ‘our team can shoot it that good at home,'” said Miller coach Scott Willard. “Our challenge is going to be doing it on the road.” kind of says it all.

You said it alleninxis! And people wonder why players are less equipped to make transition to next level? When you have Wooden-like observations like this, how do you lose?

How do you have a recap and don't have a stat line for the highest profile player/recruit in the game?

I think the answer to that is two-fold, assuming by the "you" you are referring to the article: (1) The article is Blue Ridge-centric because they are the #1 seed/two-time "defending" state runners-up with one loss on the year, and Miller School has been woeful most of the year; and (2) unless you are Hoya fan/follower, there isn't much reason (based on his numbers the entire year) to pay a lot of attention to BB. If I had the stats myself (dying to know them), I'd post 'em . . .

Yeah, I meant the writer. As a writer myself; somewhere in the article you gotta have points and boards.

More complete game story from last night linked below; still no complete stats and no mention of BB in article at all, including in this stats paragraph: "Miller finishes its season with a record of 17-12, but had a shot at taking the heavily-favored Barons out on their home floor. Junior Andrew White had 19 points, seven rebounds (both team highs) and three assists to lead the Mavericks. Janiel Jenkins added 11, and Travis Hester contributed off the bench with nine points, five boards, and four assists." www2.dailyprogress.com/sports/2011/mar/02/blue-ridge-slips-past-miller-ot-ar-879574/

What's the verdict on this kid? Is he really struggling this year? Is it just bad coaching or bad guard play? Was he under the radar for a reason?

Just from following it, it seems as if his team jacks up a bunch of threes and Bolden gets few touches, unless its putbacks. reportedly he has been inconsistent, but you see why. Also, his coaching has come into question.

Brandon will be playing with Nike Team Florida this year on the AAU circuit.
(as will Allerick Freeman)

(as will Allerick Freeman) Is he the love child of an Allen Iverson-Derrick Jackson-Austin Freeman menage-a-trois?
