Wow. That's pretty scathing, and deservedly so. ESPN still does live sports better than just about everyone (yes, we can complain about various announcers or whatever, but the production is top notch). Other than that, they don't do anything well. NFL studio shows? NFL Network is far superior. NBA studio shows? TNT is far superior. Game highlights? I'll watch any other option before I watch SportsCenter anymore. Talk shows? Absolutely suck (but I think just about all sports talk shows absolutely suck). Original programming? HAHAHAHAHA! Just kidding. How are those "Playmakers: Season 1" DVDs selling? Hell, even poker broadcasts are better on other netowrks. I guess I still kinda' like PTI. That's pretty much it though. Oh. And some of the 30 for 30 films have been excellent. But I think that's mainly because they were put together by people who have nothing to do with ESPN, like Barry Levinson. Still, ESPN should get credit for those.

ESPN still does live sports better than just about everyone (yes, we can complain about various announcers or whatever, but the production is top notch). I'm an NFC fan, but CBS' production work on AFC games is two steps ahead of anything the Worldwide Leader does for the NFL. In fact, the NFL may be its weakest link overall. The biggest problem with King Bristol is that they are above reproach, except if they say so. Ron Franklin insults Jeanine Edwards and gets fired. Tony K talks about Hannah Storm's boots and gets suspended, others got a lot less for their actions, so I'm not surprised Franklin, a 25 year veteran of the network, filed for wrongful termination. He'll get a buyout. There's a book coming out about the ESPN culture. Will the Family of Networks cover it? content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2011/01/espn-those-guys-have-all-the-fun-inside-the-world-of-espn-ron-fraklin-scandal-the-decision-lebron-james/1

ESPN is a joke, and if they didn't own college basketball, I wouldn't watch it much at all.
I honestly haven't watched sportscenter in over four years except to try to see Gtown highlights.

Not to get too off topic--but tennis analyst Mary Carillo recently left ESPN because she disagreed with them forcing her to hype American tennis players and being a "fan" on the air. She just wanted to comment/report on the game/what she saw and they elected to go in a different direction. Thanks for posting this. I had been wondering what had happened to Mary Carillo. ESPN has replaced her with Chris McKendry, who is okay, for the Australian Open. On a similar note, it's a shame Ron Franklin is gone. Franklin/Cunningham was one of the best duos ESPN had for college football. It will be interesting to see who fills that gap. Nessler/Blackledge is now the only CFB crew at ABC/ESPN worth turning up the volume for.

Maybe it's just me, as I have no ax to grind against the Jets, but I give them major credit for their comeback last night. Ditto on the Bears. That QB I never heard of made a couple of mistakes, but he also moved the team, unlike Cutler or Collins.

Pretty lousy first halves in both games, IMO, followed by pretty exciting second halves.
I don't think any of these teams are separated by a whole lot.
You just can't expect to dig a hole against a quality NFL team very often and be able to climb all the way out of it (unless the other team starts to make a LOT of mistakes......and Green Bay and Pittsburgh don't make a lot of mistakes).
The Devil is in the Super Bowl again this year, so my rooting interests for that game are clear. But I think it should be a good one. As good as each team's defenses are, I think both offenses should be able to score some points.

"Internet Chatter" is saying that Bart Scott and Antonio Cromartie fought (verbally) on the plane ride home and that Cromartie is done as a Jet because Ryan doesn't want him back.
Love the meltdown!

Hey look! The ignore feature works! Sweeet!
Now if I could only ignore the two most obnoxious fan bases in the NFL and still watch the Superbowl, well...well...then life would be just grand!

I wasn't aware that the Cowboys were playing the Raiders this year. I'm from/in the Midwest and lived in D.C. So I get the joy of Packers' fans and got to spend a lot of time with people who are Steelers' fans that have a more convoluted link to Pittsburgh than I do to Ireland.

I don't like Bill Belichick. But I do respect his ability and accomplishments as a coach. I'd be inclined to disagree with him on just about anything if you give me half a chance, but... I support him 100% on this issue of drastically changing the rules on Kickoffs. sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=6243733
