Rdf....given we all know how you feel about small ball....would you offer Daniels? Daniels is type of player I'd love to see in program but I'm all about getting more size/versatility onto the roster. If he got an offer/committed--at least he's athletic and has potential to be a fine player/great defender--but just think the talk of guards/tweeners is overload/more of same at this point. Daniels is at least a guy with big upside though--just see a roster next year of Clark, Starks, Sanford, Bowen ahead of him at the guard spots--and maybe even Hollis depending on who is brought in-and not a fan of the '11 guards I've seen play--except for BJ Young--who I personally think is the best guard in the country. Of course BJ is also a 6'4 PG.

A buddy of mine just sent me a text saying that Bishop Daniels is leaning towards Georgetown. When I asked him where was he getting his info from, he replied that he was listening to Charlotte radio via the ESPN Radio App on his iPhone. Apparently, they were talking recruiting and they said that, "Daniels has one foot inside the Verizon Center."
We'll see.

I certainly hope he becomes a Hoya. One thing I couldn't help but notice at the Rise Elite 24 game this weekend was how explosive so many of these young players are. Guys anywhere from 6' to 6'3"-6'4" were taking a step or two and coming down with two hand tomahawk dunks. A 5'11" guard did a tip in two handed dunk on a Rakeem Christmas missed shot. Not that we are going to be tons of points that way...but it never hurts to have that kind of athleticism on your team...someone who can create their own shot...something that hasn't come easy to us the last few years.
Daniels is a top 100 recruit and gives us two things we are sorely missing (1) a freakish athlete who can put pressure on a defense, and (2) a 2011 commit.

Daniels is a top 100 recruit Not according to Scout's or Rivals' most recent rankings. Scout has him as the 39th ranked shooting guard in the class of 2011. No thanks.

Aaron Bowen was the 38th ranked shooting guard by Scout in the Class of 2010. Chill out.
Bishop Daniels has a world of talent, but is also very raw and needs to get coached up.
Given the guards we already have in the system, I think Daniels would be well worth the scholarship and a valuable addition to the team.

For players who need "development" rather than being immediate impacts, they better be good defenders. Otherwise, there is no value and I'd rather we sign 5'11 guys who can at least make open three pointers.
I'm not saying Bishop is in any of these categories since I've never seen him play, but developing both offensively and defensively at the same time on the bench is not going to happen and is below this program. We need to recruit kids who are polished on at least one end of the court or the other. See Wattad and Nikita for recent examples of this. You can hide a poor defender with a zone and defensive helping, and you can hide a poor offensive player if there are other threats, but they better not be the same player.

This kid seems like a classic case, for some on this board, of "we like him because he likes us."
I fail to see the need for a guard without guard skills whose best attribute is his athleticism - particularly in JT III's offense which emphasizes halfcourt execution. We already have Clark, Sanford, Starks, and Bowen in the fold for the forseeable future, why do we need an unranked kid like this now? Maybe if we completely strike out on the 2011 class come next spring, a kid like this might be worth a flyer. But right now...I'll pass, and I truly hope the coaching staff does also.

Does JT3 remember J. Wallace? Shooting is kind of a big part of the Georgetown Offense.

Everything I've read is that Bishop is actually a pretty good shooter. If the staff wants him, I bet he ends up a pretty good player.

ESPN has Daniels ranked as the #83 ranked player in the class of 2011. They seem to think he's a good shooter with consistent 3 point range and the ability to go on offensive runs.

I don't know. The reports I've seen on him have him pretty raw. He has incredible hops, but I'm not sure he is translating that to the court.
I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him, but he's a guy who will probably need a year or two until he can make a big contribution.

Hell, if he takes "a year or two" to be ready, who cares. JT3 doesn't play the bench anyway.

Ok I will admit that I haven't seen him play. Those that have posted about him being a good shooter, have you seen him play?

Bishop is one of the few kids who really impressed me with his videos. I dont know how good he is because Ive never seen him play but if his handles are good I would take a flyer on him. I feel like you can teach a player to be a PG but you cant teach up athleticism.

Agreed...with that kind of athleticism you almost have to give him a shot. That's exactly what UCLA did with Russell Westbrook. He was very athletic but not ranked in the top 100 out of high school. Next thing you know he's the #4 pick in the draft two years later.
