Uber-explosive guard who is having a big summer so far on the grassroots circuit. John Wall's replacement at Word of God. Will likely move up the rankings quickly given the dramatic improvement of his jump shot. Must see this footage. www.blip.tv/file/3520683Had this to say in most recent Rivals interview. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1080698"Though Daniels said he's still waiting on more offers, he is showing a little favoritism to one school. "Right now, it's Georgetown because of them not having as many guards coming in, in the next couple of years," he said. "But really, everyone's standing out equally."

How good is he expected to be? Would he fit in if we also got TJ? He's a little undersized as a pure two but Jason can handle that. If we got TJ we'd be pretty crowded at point with Markel too.
Of course if he is that good, it'd be hard to say no. Sounds kind of like a similar situation to Cook.

are you serious? follow dunks by a pg? 360s w/out a clear path to the basket? still, would've been nice to see some passes and jumpers.

In Telep recap from this weekend's Southern Jamfest, Daniels listed Wake Forest and Georgetown.

I dont need to see passes...if we can have a guard that is a true threat to get to the basket on the dribble drive I will be very happy.
We don't see passes in his HS game because he is better then everyone else. He should come to Georgetown, even if he is a tweener, we have the guard room and our Big-Men are sexy. (He just wants to get on the TJ and Rak love fest)
How tall is he btw?

This link from espn has good evaluations on Daniels, although it's updated thru April of this year it doesn't show G'town listed as a school in the running which is odd but who cares. The write ups start in December of 2008 thru April of 2010. Each new synopsis seems to show that the kid is improving steadily. These are good quotes from February '10 and April '09.. "He is a high flying athlete that combines the ability of a spectacular finisher at the rim and a pure shooter from the 3-point line. If he continues this level of play he will be a hot commodity as a high level shooting guard." "He plays on ball defense with urgency and plays with great pace. Daniels competes on both ends of the floor and his future is bright with steady improvement. One to watch develop into a star." insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=66855

On when he plans to commit, Daniels said, “By the end of the summer.”

obviously the tools are there; everything else needed can be coached up.

Tools: can get to the hoop and rise above defenders. Can hit a jumpshot.
Now, it's very difficult to tell how good he can play in a structured offense, but that can/will be taught. What you cant teach is quickness/athleticism/speed. There in lies the foundation of an area the hoyas need to improve. Basketball skill can be coached up.
There are alot of kids that can "ball", but have no idea how to play the game. This kid may fall in that category. I'd rather have to coach him up with the crazy hops than the other way around. We KNOW III can coach/teach. Kids who want to get better, get better.

That is some impressive footage linked above. Daniel's hops are akin to Demetrius Hunter's hops. The staff will need to evaluate whether Daniels has the handle, IQ, desire, and shot to go with incredible, unquestionable atleticism. Daniels is a nice contingency plan to Tyrone Johnson. I know he has hops like Hunter but from the brief clip his game reminds me more of VP's...especially when he cocks his arm back for dunks.

I remember coach talking about how the hardest part of recruiting is that there's no real time to get to know a player's intangibles. It's almost impossible to find out if someone is coachable or has that desire to win, just watching AAU ball and talking to them on the phone.

He hit some J's on the clip, so that means he can hit a jumper. I too wondered why he's not rated higher. Personally, I think the kid is a backup plan, but he does remind me of D. Hunter with the hops. Apparently, III sees enuff to monitor to this point. This summer will be fun.

From Dave Telep this weekend at Pangos:
"The evolution of his game continues. Daniels was on the mark with his jump shot Friday evening. He raises up and releases his shot high and it’s well-documented that he’s an excellent leaper. Since the spring, Daniels has made a concerted effort to cut down on his ill-advised shots and be more economical. His was sharp Friday night."

Bishop unofficially visited Georgetown on Saturday. Took a day off of Chris Paul's camp to do so. Given that he plays on Chris Paul's AAU team - my guess is he is seriously considering the Hoyas.

I'd venture to guess he's the backup plan to Ty.

With Cox to Rutgers and the Jordan Goodman development, I'd venture to guess the staff is feeling less secure in signing Ty.
