, and the team could surprise people like Syracuse did this year. But Monroe was our chance for a BE POY... CW and Free have an outside chance if they REALLY step up their game.

Good luck to Greg! He's a great representative of GU and its basketball program.

If you're almost assured of being a Top 10 pick, it's extremely difficult to turn that down. I hope Monroe has a great career in the NBA. It was a pleasure to watch him play in a Hoyas uniform.

I wish the best of luck to Greg in the NBA. I just wish that he was able to have more team success in his short time at Georgetown. That said, I'm sure I'll enjoy him for many more years in the league.

Best of luck to Greg!
You realize you're not only leaving G-town without an NCAA tournament game victory, you never got your own nodak song.

Austin has to be one of the frontrunners for BE POY next year. I think you're discounting how much the BE lost and how little it is returning. By my count Gibbs and Freeman are the highest rated returning players: www.bigeast.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=19400&ATCLID=204903102

Then the BE is really down... Admittedly, I haven't analyzed future BE rosters. I'll wait til after the NBA/signing/transfer deadlines.

well the entire first team is gone and austin and gibbs are the only second team players returning there are 3 3rd team selections returning in fischer, walker, and sammuels. So austin in gibbs should be the favorites.

He'll be first-team for sure. I'm looking forward to having our co-captains averaging 20 ppg next season and playing better defense.

I appreciate GM's reasons for moving on. In his position, I would have done the same thing ... probably last year.
I'm in MY position however, and I can't agree with jagtrader on this.
He didn't earn his hype. Sorry; that's the way I see it. I got no pleasure at all watching the best all-around player in the country go walk about in too many games this year.
He needs to become a leader. He is far short of that.
As I've said before, and will probably say again, over-hyped burger team type-players are not a panacea.
As I recall, JTIII Had his best seasons with only one sure-fire pro, JG.

I only know what I read here about recruits.
RH was a "project" as I recall. He was project enough to keep himself in school another year.
The primary point is that there is little pleasure in watching players of such great potential produce so little post season success. He was not the second coming of JG. He has a distance to go to achieve that.

I agree to a certain extent. With two McD high-school all americans at guard GM didnt produce a postseason win outside of the BET. Interestingly I have some difficulty identifying him as a Hoya. He is only the second Gtown player to leave this early. With such a short stay I sometimes rather have less hyped players who stay longer. The skill set is there no doubt. I hope, though, that he is physically ready. Best of luck.

Its kinda weird seeing Greg declare for the draft because what actually are we missing with him leaving? This just doesn't feel like when Iverson, Page or Jeff Green left early. Or even Sweetney.

The pre-season BE POY, experience, depth, one of the best frontcourts in the nation, 16.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 3.8 apg. Lets not make it out to sound as if we do not lose anything with him gone.
