Hey Kruk,
You know anything about Austin Colbert, the 2013, 6'9 kid from NJ that supposedly is high on GU?

From Scout's review of at City of Palms this weekend:
"Austin Colbert said Georgetown, Seton Hall, Xavier and Pittsburgh are schools that have shown early interest in him. He said it’s still very early in the recruiting process."

Has an offer from the Hoyas according to today's Scout article. Other offers are from Notre Dame, UVA and Miami with interest from Maryland, Georgia Tech and UCLA. Says he'll make a decision before the start of his senior year.

Was behind the bench today If this is too harsh--either hit "ignore button" or skip this post. James Robinson is exactly the type of player this program has to stop recruiting. Slow footed, turnover prone, shaky outside shooter, gets killed on other end of the court, can't defend, but is a very nice kid. Great--hope he goes elsewhere. He's got options too--so he can go be a "great" Hoyas missed on--they need to get faster/more athletic in the backcourt and value the damn ball.

An interesting perspective, RDF. If one assumes your assessment is correct and we're still recruiting him, we must not have very insightful folks following prospective Hoyas -- 'cause RDF's comments make Robinson sound very unappealing. Are our recruiters blind?

An interesting perspective, RDF. If one assumes your assessment is correct and we're still recruiting him, we must not have very insightful folks following prospective Hoyas -- 'cause RDF's comments make Robinson sound very unappealing. Are our recruiters blind? Take a look at what I said about Mikael Hopkins last year--first or 2nd page of his player thread. Then look what everyone is saying about him now---sometimes you can see things and all the hoping it improves doesn't do anything--it's just a matter of the players wanting to improve/caring about their performance. Robinson is a nice kid, great grades, played nice on a very good/well coached AAU team. This year-he's been ignoring getting the big men the ball, tried to get his in a high profile game he/Dematha were humiliated in--was completely over his head facing off against level of players Hoyas face--Myles Mack embarrassed him-and Mack is a nice player--but not a star. Nate Britt has given Robinson problems, Will Ferguson has--and they are both 2/3 years away from being in SR's in HS. Robinson was offered after his Summer performance--and his best game I saw was against a point guard lacking St. Louis Eagles team--which had the talented Bradley Beal and Ben Mclemore and little else. He scored and got a lot from FT line/layups on breakouts-but in HS ball--he's been too heavy, too slow, hasn't showed leadership, hasn't shown a good hoops IQ--he/guards ignore the bigs-which is DeMatha's advantage, and he can't defend--he's too slow--added weight has not helped him. If a kid is a step slow/not great defender, he better be a lights out shooter (Jon Wallace) or you should wait and go for someone better.

I hear what you're saying, but you didn't really answer my question. You wouldn't pursue Robinson. Why do you think GU has continuing interest?

IMO, because he's a local kid that plays at DeMatha & for Team Takeover. it's tough to cut off communication even if the staff does indeed think he isn't the right fit. but we don't know if they do/don't at this point.

We'd be lucky to have a kid like James Robinson, and I think we will. No offense to RDF -- and I understand some of the hesitation -- but I think/hope Robinson will be a great Hoya.

DeMatha/Takeover connections-but I'll add this avantguard, he was offered this past Summer after AAU-and Hoyas have since shown interest in SEVERAL point guards in '12 class and even some this year--with new name being JC guard Blake Nash--who has 3 yrs of eligiblity left--and WVU, USF, Cincinnati are recruiting as well and UNC has started to show some interest in as well. Semaj Christon is another they are tracking--'11 guard who may re-classify as '12 but has big offers coming too.

Why will he be great? What does he do well? 1. Shoot--hes average to subpar 2. Speed/athleticism--below average (again if you are weak here--better by lights out shooter) 3. Defense--Horrendous 4. Leadership/Hoops IQ--Done a poor job at DeMatha this year 5. Grades--Excellent Student 6. Personality--Supposed to be great kid So 5 and 6 are wonderful attributes to have--but they don't make your program better. I'll take 1-4 and assume that most people are good people off the court and we know they have to take school seriously at Georgetown.

watching Dwight Hardy light it up and even Casey Mitchell..I'm sure not opposed to going the JUCO route to find a guard for next year.
pretty sure the Christon kid will be '12. needs to improve grades.

RDF is 100% correct.
Robinson is on the Hoya radar simply because he plays at DeMatha and for Team Takeover.
He'll be a solid role player in college but not someone I would spend considerable effort recruiting.
