other than umcp and old sweaty, that list has two things in common. south and well you can figure the rest out... I love these posts after we lose kids. We've seen the same intimated about Christmas since we lost him. Question: If these kids are going to be shady in their recruitments, THEN WHY ARE WE RECRUITING THEM? I think it's incredibly hypocritical to say, after the fact, that we lost kids because everybody else is shady and we aren't. It's an excuse, plain and simple. Or, if the coaches didn't realize that their recruitments were going to be shady earlier on, then the coaches aren't doing their jobs well. Either way, it's a poor excuse IMO. meant more along the lines of going to an easy breezey school. where he can play ball and not have someone over his shoulder, thus making it easier to get where he wants to go. le show.

maryland.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1112382Some quotes from O'Bryant's AAU coach Larry Stamps: "If you look at Johnny's list, I wouldn't call anyone a favorite, or anyone a longshot," said Stamps. "I say that because most everyone around here was surprised when the list came out. Several schools were on there that no one suspected, and several were omitted that were the so-called leaders." "For example, there was lots of talk around here about Kentucky, Georgetown, and Kansas," said Stamps. "When Johnny and his mom released the list, they weren't there. Most felt that Ole Miss and Mississippi State would be on the list, as he has been to both schools a number of times, and they've been recruiting him for some time. Miami being on there was a bit of a surprise, and perhaps Georgia Tech. LSU and Alabama are SEC schools, and they've been recruiting him pretty hard, so that didn't shock anyone either." "Yes, Maryland definitely got a late start," said Stamps. "We hadn't heard from them at all to the best of my knowledge until Bino (Terps assistant Orlando Ranson) got in contact with us and the family. Coach Bino touched base, I don't know, probably very late spring or early summer, and told us that he was going to recruit Johnny harder than anyone, and that he wanted the kid at Maryland. I will say this about Coach Bino....he has as much energy and enthusiasm as anyone who is recruiting the young man. I admire him for that. They started late, but have made up ground coming down the stretch. I mean, they made the list, and I would think they will get an official visit, so yeah, give them credit." If he goes to Maryland, then I'm officially done following recruiting.

It will be interesting to see what the coaching staff does. I agree with SirSaxa, doesn't appear that it makes a lot of sense for the coaching staff to continue pursuing JOB with significant resources. However, based on previous experience, I expect them to still recruit him hard.

In case there was still any hope on JOB, ESPN reports the following from the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game:
"Johnny O'Bryant is looking at a November decision. He's down to Mississippi, Mississippi State, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Georgia Tech and Alabama. He'll visit LSU the weekend of Sept. 18 and Miami the weekend of Oct. 9."

FWIW, a writer on MD's Rivals site says he's hearing that Georgetown is trying real hard to re-enter the picture with JOB.
Supposed to be visiting MD on an official this weekend.

He is and I heard he may commit from one of his former coaches. I hope I'm wrong but he said Bino is the man.

From ESPN's recruiting page chat yesterday:
"Is Ole Miss the leader for Johnny O Bryant?
Reggie Rankin (4:25 PM)
I think Miss. is right in the thick of things, but I've heard Miss. St., LSU, Miami and Alabama as of late. He is still in evaluation mode of the schools."
