so someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe the knock on him was he wanted to be a 3 but hadn't developed a 3's game yet. Any word on the progress on that front?

I'd take him in a second. He didn't set the world on fire as a freshman but he is long and skilled and could be very effective in the Georgetown system (esp. after a year acclimating to the system as a transfer). I hope his interest gets relayed to the staff quickly.
A 1-2-3 of Markel, Hollis, and Spurlock in a couple of years would be really good.

Yikes - first Sylvan gets booted off and now this. I hope Tony Bennett can turn things around, but would be great to see Tristan as a Hoya. Can never have enough 6'8 long forwards.

If he wants to do it give him the year that he has to sit out and work on it. Coach just has to be honest about what he would have to do to play the 3 and how he could get minutes, a rotation at 3 with him and Goodman could work especially to work on mismatches. Also if Virginia wanted him to play the 4 then hopefully he can rebound which would be nice.

Does he like to play defense and rebound?

Not interested. He did not play at UVA. If there is anyone we need to reach out to its Braswell. I like his game.

Spurlock loved Hoyas first time around---never got the offer---if he did, he'd have been at GU. I know this. Anyway, the main thing about Tristan is he is versatile and can play multiple positions. He can also defend multiple positions. He's a 3/4/2 in that order. More of a slasher than a jump shooter. He's long and strong, which portends to his verstility. He's a kid that does nothing great, but many things well. I'd take him; essentially cause he's sat at UVA, so there's your season to get acclimated to college life. That wouldn't be an issue. He's hungry to play and will prob bust his tail. Lastly, he's a good student, a good kid and has a strong familial support system. Remember, he was a top 100 kid outta high school. He's also got the AAU link; having played for Boo. Just my opinion

Transfers are redshirts and don't count against the 13 limit right? So if Spurlock came, we still have a 2010 scholarship open, and Spurlock gets one of the spots vacated by AF/CW/JV in 2011?

transfers and redshirts both count against the limit
my opinion is if he wants to get time...this probably isnt the place for him, but I'd take him if he is willing to work for what he gets. He is the type of 3 most of this board wants. And the fact he didnt play for UVa doesnt really bother me. Tony Bennett is one of those if you dont fit in his plans you don't play types...maybe its no D, maybe its he had a propensity in practice to turn the ball over. I know those are both cardinal sins in his system. Bennett's dad basically made that blueprint Wisconsin uses now.

I'd take him too. I love that he's a good student and he sounds like a matchup headache for our opponents.

Where is Landsberg? Is he out of the program or just still suspended? I like his game too.

I saw Spurlock play his senior year, when he had transfered to Word of Life Academy to be closer to home. He was playing against lesser competion then, but was a man among boys. Physically solid and gifted.

Landesberg is suspended, but Bennett said he could come back next year. I like the idea of getting a kid who wants to be here, who can play multiple positions, and has a year to get acclimated. Imagine how high we all would have been on Julian had this been his sophomore year?
That being said, I guess I'm not sure if there's space for him. Right now, in the backcourt we go: Chris, Austin, Jason, Vee, Markel, Aaron. The frontcourt goes: Greg, Julian, Hollis, Henry, Nate, Jerrelle. That's 12 spots right there, and if we get Moses or Mo Walker, that's 13. Isn't that the limit?
Even if not, we'd be looking at him playing in 2011. At that time, we'd have Jason (Sr.), Vee (Jr.), Markel (Soph.), Aaron (Soph.) in the backcourt (not counting anyone else we're going after like Tyrone Johnson or Quinn Cook). I guess we would have room in the frontcourt because we'd only go Hollis (Jr.), Henry (Sr.), Jerrelle (Jr.), Nate (Soph.) plus anyone we might have signed this Spring and next year. There would be minutes at the 3, but realistically, he wouldn't be sniffing a chance at a starting spot until his Sr. year. If he'd be cool with that, then it might be an intriguing pickup. But I'm not sure a lineup with that much of a logjam is what transfers normally look for.

yeah i don't see this happening, if we hadn't signed aaron then sure bring him in. But i just don't see playing time/space for him.
