We have won two BET games with Austin going 0-6 from the 3; this is his game to correct that stat. Excellent point here. I was shocked when his j's weren't falling. That the team won without them is a testament to how strong they were today. Austin still had a very good game but in many other big wins he was huge (Louisville, UConn).

Awesome Freeman. OK, his THREEs have not been falling, but despite that his line yesterday v Cuse was:
7/14 4/4 from the line 18 pts 4 Boards 3 Assists 2 Steals 37 minutes
Not sure how many insulin shots he took or what his blood sugar measured.
This kid truly is AWESOME!
Hoyas BIG THREE can challenge ANYONE!
GO HOYAS! ENJOY THE RUN!

Props to him for realizing that his 3s were not falling and going inside for the lay-ups and put-backs, esp. the one when he out-jumped Wes Johnson for the tip-in.
Clark is having such a good BET that he's making a case for "The Big Four".

Who does Clark matchup with tonight? Johnson-Odom? If we run our offense the way we did last time we played them, just without so many gd turnovers, I'm confident.

i absolutely love the way marquette plays. those kids get after it for 40 minutes. we have to match their intensity from the tip. our guards must not get caught doubling or following the ball leaving open looks from 3. this happened a couple times yesterday and drove me insane. i say hollis gets more minutes than julian. he gives our defense a completely different look and it's not like we lose much in rebounding.

Will VEE get more minutes too?
After reading Chris' comment about nothing to get excited about yet, they came to NYC to win THE WHOLE THING!
That is exactly what I'd like to read from our guys, especially our PG who is playing the best ball of his GU career RIGHT NOW!

This will be a tough game (Marquette doesn't get the respect they deserve) but with the way we are playing, I really like our chances.
Simple gameplan: POUND THE BALL INSIDE. Let Monroe operate with the ball every time down the court (unless we are in transition). If he gets double-teamed, it will free up shooters on the perimeter (or down-low for easy lay-ups...I mean, DUNKS). Their tallest player that gets regular minutes for them is 6'7 (although Mbao got 4 minutes in our first game). Even their guards are relatively small. Let's do it.
If we win tonight, REDEMPTION ROAD will continue to the Finals since we lost to both teams in the other semifinal. I'm excited.

It is important that you are establishing your priorities early in the relationship; if she does not understand the cancellation for tonight, cut her loose! But if she does - a dream girl.

I've been trying and trying to remember the Marquette game, but can't. Maybe it wasn't the feature game down here in the south. Either way, there's only one Marquette game that matters now ...

That's funny you should say that. I've been trying and trying to remember the Marquette game, but can't. Maybe it wasn't the feature game down here in the south. Either way, there's only one Marquette game that matters now ... As I remember it, the following things happened in the Marquette game. 1. We crapped the bed in the first 5 minutes. Threw the ball all over the place and looked like we were going to have 60 turnovers. Offensively, we then settled down and ran our game pretty well. 2. They hit a ridiculous number of 3s. A lot of them were open, but some of them were well defended, but it didn't matter. Cubillan, I think, was 6-6 or something like that. 3. We should have won the game at the end, but they made the plays and we didn't. Greg got the ball stripped when he put it on the floor instead of just going up with it. Greg had a crucial rebound taken out of his hands by Hayward. And Austin missed a runner to take the lead. Anything I leave out? Fix 1 and 2, and I think we're golden (no pun intended).

Like a lot of people have said in this thread, I don't know if we can fix #2. We don't have great coverage on threes, and Marquette can shoot.
They do the "Duke" thing where they drive to set up the three rather than score. (As an aside, there's a cute thread on the Marquette board where they claim Buzz is revolutionary for this, when it's been the Duke offense since Elton Brand left.)
We're extraordinarily susceptible to this, and while we've cut down on the over-help recently, to my eyes, we're still not great at preventing open threes.
And Marquette can shoot. They have great three point shooters and good ones.
Now, #1 we can change. And we can not turn the ball over, rebound, and get it inside more. But while the team obviously needs to defend the three better, I don't think we should expect Marquette not to shoot the lights out from three.
