(whispers an aside) easy on the flu talk Agreed. Since we are the team that had the team-wide flu this year, I think we might have to retire that nickname.

Anyone have the Rivals Reel from the 100 Anniversary game in 2007? The Rivals Reels website isn't up anymore

marquette is a ridiculous 3 point shooting team; 11-18 today, for the year butler 48%, acker 47%, johnson-odom 47%, cubillan 39%, hayward 34% (!). we need to play them tight and not get fooled on switches and the like.
but we're playing very well, so i'm not worried.

Need to contain Johnson-Odom and Cubillan big time tomorrow. Not that I don't think we can do it, but relying on ourselves to shoot 57% from the field tomorrow to win the game probably isn't an ideal game plan.
We should run a very similar offensive gameplan tomorrow to the one we ran today. Attacking mercilessly and continued aggression is the way to go. Marquette is always pesky defensively, so our guys need to be strong with the ball when they take it to the hole and finish in traffic. Buzz will have them ready to go to war, and we have to match their intensity.
JV played very few minutes today. I'm looking for him to have a big role tomorrow.

Hopefully, we haven't expended too much energy and emotion in this one and wont come out flat vs. Quette.

Marquette shoots and defends the three very well. They also like to create turnovers (they do so at/about the rate Cuse does). They won by 3 points in January. We had a TO rate of 23% and let them shoot 46.2% against us from behind the arc while only shooting 28.6% in the vesper half. They also had an OReb% of 44.4% in the second half. hoyaprospectus.blogspot.com/2010/01/recap-marquette-62-georgetown-59_06.htmlProtect the ball, close out on shooters and box out and we win.

We have to force them to guard us on the interior. If we run our stuff through Greg, we may force them to go big, which isn't ideal from their point of view.
Most important thing is to rest up. We have the advantage in rest time, and our guys have seen breaks during games just by operation of foul trouble (particularly against USF), but, as mentioned, Vaughn saw considerable time on the bench today. Love how this team is playing, but they have to love it too and have to be hungry every day.

While Cubillan killed us from three and that may not repeat, Marquette is a very good three point shooting club in general, so we may need to play just as well as today to win.
That said, the guys are playing really, really well right now. Hope there's no emotional letdown.

This is the game plan: 1. Shoot the 3 well- 40 plus percent
2. Defend the three
3. Create turnovers and get some easy buckets in transition.
This is how you put a good run together and winthe game!!

This is the game plan: 1. Shoot the 3 well- 40 plus percent 2. Defend the three 3. Create turnovers and get some easy buckets in transition. This is how you put a good run together and winthe game!! You left out two key points: 4. Limit turnovers 5. Box out / limit 2nd chance points

Why do people keep saying we won't shoot like we shot against Syracuse?
When you shoot primarily lay-ups the FG% will go way up. I don't see why we can't shoot well against Marquette.

Also, I don't see why we can't shoot better than 33% from 3 against Marquette.

Why do people keep saying we won't shoot like we shot against Syracuse? When you shoot primarily lay-ups the FG% will go way up. I don't see why we can't shoot well against Marquette. We shot 69% on two pointers and 33.3% from behind the arc for an eFG% of 63.2. We can easily shoot better from behind the arc (we're shooting 39.4% from 3 for the season) but it'll be hard to maintain that kind of 2 PT efficiency--we're 54.1% on 2PTers for the year, and that's the 8th highest in the country. Then again, we shot 81.8% on 2 PTers against Duke and 69% against Seton Hall. So we've done it before, but aside from those two games, we haven't shot better than 69% on 2pters in a half since the start of the Big East season. Of course, if we shoot better on threes, we can maintain our eFG%--we had better eFG% than 63.2 against DePaul, Rutgers and Nova despite shooting worse on 2pt shots

We are steely eyed assassins this week. We will get inside their shirts on D, and will score inside and out on offense. We ARE making it to Saturday night.

I don't see why we can't shoot well against Marquette. obviously cuse played the zone which opened up the baseline for multiple easy layups. quette likely wont play that so we will have to shoot from distance and 60% from distance will be tought.

We have won two BET games with Austin going 0-6 from the 3; this is his game to correct that stat.

Let's keep it rolling hoyas. Need to match their intensity. We do that we win. They're scrappy as hell and hustle. Can't get out worked.
