If the selection committee is watching this, neither of these teams will get a bid. This is brutal. Jack Cooley putbacks and missed jumpers, don't miss a second.

What an awful game. I can't believe our season has come down to avoiding tiebreaker losses to USF and Notre Dame.

Let's hope Lazar Hayward has some heart.

All that really matters is that we finish in the Top 8. Anything beyond that is gravy at this point. Even with the best result (#6 seed), we very well could be playing the most desperate team in the country (UConn or even Seton Hall) in the first round. So, yeah, we just need to worry about winning our game Saturday. Everything else is completely out our control.

Reality just set in...we're competing with a group that includes Notre Dame, South Florida, and Seton Hall.

Given the recent results, Hoya fans are in no position to crow, but the Duke-Terp game just shows how weak the NCAA field is this year. Terps are a decent team. But Duke is number 4 in the country and a potential number 1 seed? Seven ACC teams in the tourney? Sad.

Rushing the floor? Must not be any couches available to burn in College Park tonight.

UMD fans charge the court after beating Duke
#23 in the nation, second in the acc, now tied for first.
Definite embarrassment

Maryland is a very solid team though to be honest...I would not want to face them in 2nd round

Maryland is a very solid team though to be honest...I would not want to face them in 2nd round I disagree. They're solid but nothing about them really scares me. Vasquez is good but not efficient. They have solid shooting and Williams is nice but if we're playing well enough that we make the second round I'd be pretty confident of beating them. This is also their first rpi top 25 win (I think) and it was a squeaker at home. I'm not convinced they can't be ousted by a team with a solid frontcourt and a shooter or two.

UMD fans charge the court after beating Duke #23 in the nation, second in the acc, now tied for first. Definite embarrassment Well, it was definitely a different situation than when we beat them on January 30. Duke was the top dawg in the ACC all year, Maryland is now tied with them and has a chance to win the title, and the Terps hadn't beaten Duke in three years. So it kind of makes sense. I watched the game more or less from start to finish, and I thought it was really entertaining. Say what you will about Vasquez, he has a lot of heart, is a good team leader and made some ridiculous shots tonight. I've never seen someone gesture to the crowd as much as he does. That won't exactly work in the NCAA Tournament. But let's not lie, any team that is 12-3 in a major conference is a good team. Even if we win on Saturday, there's a good chance they will be ranked ahead of us next week. However, I think Maryland's ceiling is the Sweet 16, and they could go down before that. Of course, a lot of people could be saying that about us right now... Finally, a big game at Comcast Center can be a lot of fun to watch. It's a great set-up there - students completely surrounding the court, plus the steep "Wall" behind one of the baskets. And they get loud. They've really embraced the "gold" the past couple years, with the jerseys and now the student section shirts. Now, if the students could only stop chanting f-bombs so much...

May I ask how they have changed from the team we obliterated last year?

May I ask how they have changed from the team we obliterated last year? Eric Hayes is a little better and so is Milbourne and Moseley but the biggest difference is Jordan Williams who is a legitimate big man and not a pseudo big like Dave Neal was. They're still not that great though and I don't think anybody who's not an acc fan has their ceiling pegged as any higher than sweet sixteen.

Anybody catch the UConn-ND game? ND was really slowing it down, and it worked. I expected more energy from UConn. I thought the Huskies should have tried more pressure to force some steals and fast breaks. ND really took them out of their game - UConn could not run.
As much crap as Mike Brey has gotten on these boards, he has done a fantastic job since Harangody went down. It'll be interesting to see what happens if Gody comes back. It's just crazy that they might be better without him.
I think this win makes ND and UConn switch spots - ND is now on the right side of the bubble, and UConn is not. ND still probably needs at least one or two more wins though. That game at Marquette on Saturday is huge for them.
UConn, on the other hand, faces a must-win at South Florida on Saturday. A win would push them to 8-10 in conference, which usually would have them out, but their strength of schedule is #2 in the country, and they have nice wins over Villanova, West Virginia, and Texas (2 of 3 at home). I think South Florida is equally desperate. I think the loser of this game is 99.9% done, and the winner stays barely alive but will have some serious work to do in the Big East Tournament to sneak in as an at-large. In all reality, both are probably done, but you never know...

The Huskies looked weak and dispirited to me. I wouldn't be surprised if S Fla puts them out of their misery. I know we should now root for Jimmy, but I refuse to contemplate that we will do anything but win Saturday. Notre Dame, please fold on the road.

Brey has actually done a very good job with them post Harangody precisely by playing slow. They run 30 second possessions and do not panic as the shot clock winds down. They have been very patient, and you can tell our guys got frustrated when they'd miss a shot and have to come back and defend for 30-35 seconds. I don't like saying this, but it's kind of a poor man's version of the Jeff-Roy teams (offensively, not defensively).

Everytime UConn has looked cooked this season, they've bounced back with a win when their backs were to the wall. I expect the same Saturday. I'd much rather have to rely on UConn to beat USF than to rely on the Hoyas to win.
