Imagine the reaction on this board had Chris made that open three. Or if Greg made his three. ... or if Greg's two turnovers on bounce passes in the lane had not happened and had turned in to 4 points of buckets. But his last turnover was with 10 minutes to go. He more than made up for his mistakes after that. Georgetown scored 19 points in last 10 minutes (Freeman 8, Monroe 7, Thompson 2, Wright 2) but Rutgers scored 20. The game was not lost on offense.

The game was not lost on offense. If you read my posts about the game you'll find I agree.

If the chose is an easy 2 vs. an easy 3, I can agree to take the two. The point is you need to take the first good look so as to extend the game if you miss. If there were 10 more seconds on the clock you can probe and something may show that is better. We did not have that luxury assuming you wanted more than one chance to extend this game. I am a big believer in letting the shot come in the flow and this was a case of a missed shot and not a mistaken judgment. The mistakes happened earlier and in a variety of contexts. End game strategy was fine.

Not sure where to post this so I'll post it here:
This board has replaced Henry with Chris Wright. Less than a month ago there was a thread about him being an NBA point guard. This week he's everything thats wrong with our team and people would rather have Clark at the helm and Vee get more minutes. He hasnt shot well this month or driven as much to the basket, but he'll be ok. The team's struggles have more to do with defense and rebounding than it does him getting 10+ points in a given game.

Wright has struggled.
Replacing him is silly. We're already not a deep team. We want to take minutes from him? He needs to work his way out of his slump, but I doubt Vee would be better than Wright except maybe in very small spurts to rest him. I could be wrong. But remember how good Chris can be and realize we need that to beat good teams.

Has anyone actually suggested "replacing" chris with Vee? If so, I must have missed that thread or those posts.
Giving Chris a break for a few minutes each half by letting Vee get little burn has multiple benefits for both kids and -- hopefully -- for the team. Does that really seem unreasonable? To me it seems like a good suggestion.

The zone was not the problem. It just exposes the fact that we do not have players who want to play defense. The guys off the ball are always slow to rotate or help no matter what defense we run. When we play big-time games the effort and intensity is much better, but even then it has not been sustained for a full game. This.

the monroe 3 was much worse than the wright 3 IMO. down 3 with 4 min left, taking that shot with 15 left on the shot clock then compounding that by making a terrible play defensively letting the guy leak out behind you.

The 2nd part of that play sucked, but I can't complain about Greg's shot either. He was 1-1 so far, wide open, and he needs to take those shots to keep defenses honest. Considering how many he passes up on a regular basis, I'm okay with him taking what was in actuality a decent shot, but simply with a bad result. If the rebound isn't so long, it's just a missed jumper and really a non-entity so I try not to let the outcome dictate how I feel about it in the big scheme.
