This dude is absolutely kidding himself if he thinks he can go to the league at this point.
He's been exposed in the last two games. He's soft, he's got zero strength, no athleticism and he can't score.
He's been awful and teams know to go right at him.
He's got to get a motor. And right now he has none, which is appalling for a player with his youth and talent.

It's shocking too because you know that's all he hears (that he's soft).
Yet, he is often flopping trying to take charges, never in the mix on the offensive boards.
It's a shame...wasted talent.

he's an above average passer and that's it. he's beyond lazy defensively and doesn't own a reasonably consistent post move offensively.

It's awkward to constantly hear announcers having to backtrack from the generic pre-game hype of Monroe as a GTown star big man and then...the game starts. Vitale was even talking about the system holding him back (as others have done). Just hurtful for recruits to hear that kind of talk.

It's clear that people don't know Greg. At this point, he's a great passer and a good rebounder. But he's got no motor, no strength, hasn't improved from last season and can't score.

What is the excuse for the other guys who are playing so poorly today/ Might as well get Henry and V some run, can't be any worse.

Others are playing poorly to be sure.
But to me, it starts with Greg. If you're supposed to be the "best player", you have to take the lead in these kind of games. You come to college to play in games like this, yet Greg looks timid out there, like he doesn't want to mix it up.
We just made UConn look like a final 4 team and it starts with Greg

Freeman and Wright are our best players today (and maybe for the season). But why does everybody have to start bashing our players when we start losing a SINGLE game? Monroe has been big this year in games (i.e., Butler). What about UConn last year (we don't win without him)? Monroe is a special player. Great, if he isn't playing up to the NBA hype, then he comes back for his junior year. I won't be complaining.

Greg is looking pretty darn good this half. JTIII must have said something to him during halftime because he has come out with some serious fire...

I criticized Greg's effort and laziness in the first half. Please direct me to anything I said that was inaccurate about the first half.

Greg's effort was completely different in the second half than it was in the first half. THAT'S what he can control. Give effort and the results will come. Be aggressive. Be a dog. He has more talent than 95 percent of the players in this country. All he has to do is give the effort needed.

uh, Pope,
not sure if you've uh, actually, like, watched the games this year?
But Greg's played the four all season.
Thanks for playing

Julian's played the five all season. Greg's started at the four every single game.
That said, as I said before, the biggest difference between the two halves was effort. When Greg plays with effort, he's a special kid. When he doesn't he looks like he did in the first half of this game and nearly all of the marquette game.

I will say it again. Terrible job by the ingame posters who used this board to vent their frustrations.

When he doesn't he looks like he did in the first half of this game and nearly all of the marquette game. so with that being the case, has vaughn been posting up and the guards been feeding him the ball down low or has that been gregs role? seemed to me from what i just watched it was greg doing that just like he was the one to do that last year. i think greg is naturally not the guy to do that but may be are only choice. my point was that had macklin stayed he could have been the one being fed the ball down low and then dishing of to monroe for a drive or a dunk. so im suggesting taking it easy on monroes performance because he is not playing his natural role. this is not a post about macklin, its about presenting a different perspective to explain the frustration many are venting about greg.
