is it just me, or are they lucky? lose their WHOLE team, and still be 13 and 2 and 3 and 0 in the conference.
guess i just can't stand them

Sounds more like well coached than lucky, as much as it pains me to say it.

Well coached. And as long as Blair isn't on the team I don't hate Pitt nearly as much . Plus I respect Dixon's blunt comments about why Pitt should not even consider leaving the Big East for the Big Ten, Eleven, Twelve.

Not taking anything away from Pitts win (they are well coached) .. But Cinn had 3 opportunities(in a row) in the closing minutes to take the lead and BORN READY once again shot them out of the game. Gates was either open down low or had a huge mismatch and instead they settled for 3's or took out of control shots (Bishop/Lance) . G.Brown and Dixon make them a much better team and the coach gets the most out of his players. Cronin needs to get that team under more control and tell Lance to grow-up fast.

Dixon can just flat-out coach. They're pretty small this year too (especially compared to the past 2 seasons). Don't forget, one of their losses was to Texas.

Lance ain't going to do any growing up during his one year in school and one semester in the classroom. That will have to wait for a much later date.

I don't hate Pitt at all. I will generally root for them out of conference.

The other was to Jeremiah Rivers and Company. Indiana is a bad team this year and they're going to be well below .500 by the end of the year.

I thought Pitt looked good. They hit a bunch of clutch shots when Cinci got close.
I didn't have a horse in the race, but I saw the 2nd half and thought Cinci was mostly in the game because of some generous officiating. Even the announcers pointed out a couple of egregious no-calls when Pitt was on the offensive end and Cinci was in the double bonus from touch fouls with about 7 minutes left.
Cinci's shot selection was horrendous--I hope they take those same shots against us.

1) I hate pitt. How can you not hate pitt after the past couple years and our battles against them. 2) I respect jamie Dixon. He's a great coach, despite no real NCAA success. 3) I think Pitt has been pretty lucky so far. They've definitely gotten a lot of bounces and lucky shots, but you make your own luck. They're another team that i'd classify as more scrappy than good. Not that either team isn't good, but they're scrappiness is what's winning them games not talent. Their only real talent right now is gibbs. But man do they hustle their asses off and play disciplined. That's why teams like pitt will always finish ahead of the cinci's, st. john's, and seton halls who arguably have more raw talent, but no idea how to play together as a team.

Speaking of Pitt, I remember hearing about how no team had beaten them twice at Peterson Events Center a year or two ago. Anyone have any idea is that's still true? Because it would be nice to be the first team to beat them twice there.

i watched the first half of the game, and cinci was only it because of some crazy/lucky shots that gates landed. Otherwise, Pitt had them under control. Cinci looked more like a street baller team then anything. Pitt looked cool and controlled, and how much it pains me to say it, they looked good. I'm predicting a tough match up when we play them. -m

Yeah, Pitt is going to be a tough game for the Hoyas. But so will the Bearcats. Both teams plays physical ball, and those types of teams seem to give the Hoyas fits (at least in the past).
As Bilas or Raf was pointing out, Pitt's game plan on D includes bumping the cutters -- just an example of the physical approach they take. If they are allowed to do it, and they surely will be allowed to do so in BE play, it is something that the Hoyas have to adjust to and fight through. I think some of the previous Hoyas teams had a tought time doing that. Based on what I am seeing so far, I think this year's team is much better at dealing with the physical stuff.

pitt's bumping the cutters has always worked against us it's so frustrating. They hold and push cutters and don't get called for it. And then come torney time they do the same thign it gets called and they lose. Happens every year.

Pitt lost a ton of talent from last year and it makes perfect sense they would have a questionable early loss like Indiana as the team develops.
They didn't play a single true road game out of conference, but then beat Syracuse on the road to open the Big East. Pitt's OOC results aren't going to help them come NCAA time, but that Syracuse win was impressive. Dixon can coach - and his formula for bumping cutters just gives Georgetown fits.

You can't be lucky for this long. It eventually runs out.
Pitt just plays sound basketball.
its not pretty, its not flashy.
its just bring your lunch pale and hardhat to the game, and tough one out.
that is Dixon's style. its refreshing actually. kind reminds me of Pop's teams.
outside of our Hoyas, they are my favorite team to watch play. its my kind of basketball.
to beat Pitt you have to have players, but you also have to match their toughness.
