This season Jamie Dixon has a chance to put himself in a select group of coaches IMO. He lost more talent than any other team in the BE and yet has gone on the road to beat an undefeated Cuse team and a NCAA hopeful in UC. Road wins are hard enough to get in CBB and Pitt already locked up two good ones. I saw the Pitt team that lost to IU and it is startling the contrast between the team in Nov and now. Really solid job by Dixon.
Meanwhile, I completely agree with the comments about bumping the cutters. This is the reason 1) Pitt beats GU often and 2) Pitt loses in the NCAAs.

JTIII v Dixon:
W 67-64 A 117 O Rating 111 D Rating W 61-58 H 106/101 L 60-74 A 128/137 W 61-53 H 107/93 W 65-42 N 115/74
---Jeff Green leaves / DeJuan Blair arrives at Pitt---
L 60-69 A 101/116 - 41% O Rebounding for Pitt L 65-74 N 101/115 - 46% O Rebounding L 54-70 H 91/118 - 56% O Rebounding!
Record 4-4
Of the four losses, our D efficiency was at least 115 in every loss; while the offense hasn't done well in the last three, it has only been "bad" in one of the four. We've had defensive problems in all.
So while people constant talk about Pitt's defense against us, that hasn't really been it. It's mostly been the physicality on the offensive boards.
Not to say Dixon isn't a good coach, but it hasn't been Pitt's defense -- and III owned Dixon pre-Blair. It's kinda the same way with Jay Wright. III is 6-3 versus Wright. Surprised?

Unfortunately, Dante Taylor has the 4th best offensive rebounding rate in the nation. Very Blair like except that while Dante is a very large man, he has a neck and both of his ACLs.
I don't know how Pitt does it, but it's impressive. Kudos to Dixon.

Taylor is a good offensive rebounder, but he's no blair. blair rebounding percentage was 5%pts higher while playing 66% of the minutes. Taylor only plays 42% of the minutes.

You know how to earn more minutes on Pitt? Kick the Hoyas a** on the boards. He's not playing 42% of anything against us unless Julian boxes him into the front row. So the first board that goes up, I'd like Julian to introduce himself to Mr. Taylor.

Taylor is not a good defender which is why he doesn't see more time.
