I just think alot of you guys are over optimistic. How Is HS improving? I think he almost lost the game for us against St Johns! His Defense was so bad right now he is a libality on the court in a close game. I hear on this site hes improving I guess if you consider improving not having more turnovers and personal fouls than minutes then yeah hes improving......
I mean last year he averaged 1.9 points a game and combined an average of 1.5 turnovers and fouls per game. This year hes averaging 2.8 points a game but averaging 3 turnovers and fouls combined. How is this productive or getting better?
Hopefully He figures it out, we reall yneed some guys on the beach to step up. Because im a hoya fan Theres part of me like teh sleepys out there that no matter what I believe he will be great, but from what I can actually see Im just not so sure.....

Both HSB and seaweed have referenced hoyaprospectus.blogspot.com/. That discussion should be required reading. Of the lineups that see significant action, Henry in for Vaughn statistically is our most effective lineup, though the starters aren't too shabby. The defense has suffered significantly thus far when Hollis has entered the game with the starters for Vaughn. Discussion and tables at hoyaprospectus.blogspot.com/

Interesting stats from Hoyainspirit. In particular, Hollis' 25% for 2 pt layups vs. 42.9% from 3, which I chalk off to small sample size.

Man, some of these Sims bashers ain't ready for no statistical analysis!
Suffice it to say, they are such insightful and expert observers of bball talent that they can tell when a kid's got it and when he doesn't, without such information. Again, like my mama used to say, "Lord, have mercy"!!

I give credit where it's due. Henry played very well in the first half. Two great hustle plays that saved two possessions and led to free throws.

That being said, Jerrelle deserves to play as well. He was also very good in the first half

Daytona can we give c redit to HS when he scores a basket for us?? I mean come on, we should be giving the credit to Hollis, He made a 3 pointer, looks very comfortbale out there and is getting alot of minues. When HS gets his 12 minutes and scores 6 points with a few assists then maybe we can say what improvements hes made...

C'mon Richfame, stop being purposefullu obtuse. They're giving props to Henry in a thread about Henry, in which certain posters are bashing the crap out of Henry. Why would they make a post about Hollis in this thread?

Henry looked much more comfortable out there today. He moved the ball well on offense had a nice assist. He moved a lot better on defense and was not out of position. He missed his free throws, but I'm not sure what people are expecting of henry. He never got the ball in scoring position. He mostly gets the ball on the wing or the top of the key. I'm pretty sure we don't want him to try and drive or jack up a 3. He posted up but was not fed. He recovered the ball twice on offense off of misses and kept the play alive. He did well today. Get your heads out of your asses. It's not all about scoring.

Agreed. Henry was never really in a position to score. Overall, I've seen relatively few passes into the paint. Teams are really focused on Greg and, recently, Julian and seem more willing to give our perimeter guys open looks. The way Chris and Austin have been playing (and Jason at times) with Hollis hopefully becoming more comfortable and shooting a bit more, I'm wondering how much longer that will last. I think this team can be dangerous inside and outside.

The defense has suffered significantly thus far when Hollis has entered the game with the starters for Vaughn. And yet, in the St. John's game, Sims had a negative impact with a -1.0 net points. I'd have loved to see his actual +/-, but I haven't seen anyone that carries that stat.

Based on that Henry has only been a negative in 2 games temple( where he did suck) and ODU( where he and everyone sucked) and he was only the lowest in the temple game. in fact he was +11 for the st. john's game good for second best on the team. but please don't let facts get in the way. Henry contributes and is not a huge detriment to the team that some would believe because they focus on the bad but miss the good.

A parenthetical remark if I may:
I do not now nor have I ever understood the point of criticizing invidual players.
Doesn't the coach know what we know, and much more?
Coach is responsible for all that happens or fails to happen.
Once the season begins, why don't we just focus on criticizing his decisions, if warranted.?
Short bench. We need Henry; we need them all, period end of sentence, full stop, point.
I know this is a destination site for fanatical nit-pickers, but let the grown-ups take the heat.
They get paid for it.
Henry has placed his future in the hands of Big Man U. with ALL that means. He's probably scared to death half the time.
Now back to scheduled nit-picking.
