Well .. here's hoping we beat the crap out of UConn tomorrow and really give Roscoe something to chew on.

"At the time, he said, "The main [thing] about UConn is coach Jim Calhoun, his work, the past, and also the legacy of the players who played here, like Rudy Gay and Ben Gordon. I can do it all. Right now, [UConn coaches] are telling me, if I do come to UConn, the world is mine."" This sort of statement does not go with GU's team mentality.

I guess they did end up offering the max contract, whoever speculated on that earlier. Since I don't have anything nice to say that will be all.

Roscoe ship had sailed a long time ago. Anybody who said otherwise was fooling themselves.
Good news is he's not a huge loss on the court. Very similar player to Hollis, unclear if Roscoe's the better player.
I don't like to root against kids. However, it wouldn't be good for Georgetown if this kid goes to UCONN and becomes a stud. For the sake of Hoya basketball, would be better if Roscoe is more of a Curtis Kelly than a Rudy Gay.

Disappointing. Congrats to UConn and good luck to Roscoe….somewhat.
In retrospect…well to be honest actually for a long time now…it appears as if Roscoe and Co.(family) did their best to commit to anyone other than Georgetown. I feel most bad for III who has been recruiting this kid forever…longer than anyone. It’s a shame it didn’t work out for the Hoyas. But III tried. He did his best. He didn’t lose Roscoe because he was out playing golf or something;’ he gave it his all. Unfortunately in this situation it was not enough.
With that being said I will now concede that the Hoyas are in a bit of a recruiting slump (a bit of a recession if you like). The Hoyas haven’t gotten a commitment from a top 100 player since Starks. Of course since Starks and Lubick committed so long ago and therefore the Hoyas got top 100 Class of ’10 recruits back in 2008, it may be unfair to see this a s a slump or a drought. But it does seem like it. Of course the Hoyas could get out of such a perceived drought in the very near future as it goes after guys in the 2011 and 2012 classes. However that long ago dream of bringing in a blockbuster recruiting class for 2010 seems to be done. I’m extremely happy with the two guys the Hoyas did get. But I was hoping for more.
Now with the Roscoe recruitment mercifully over the question now is what should the Hoyas do with the remaining schollies. My two cents. If Monroe stays then I hope the Hoyas bring in just one more recruit. Preferably a big man. I say big man because in case of injuries, the continued possibility of transfers or the good chance that at least one of the young big men won’t be ready to step up its always nice to have options. I don’t think the Hoyas need any more guards as long as Austin, Chris, Jason and Vee return. Add the fact that Hollis could play the two-guard and that Markel could be ready to play major minutes from the start (I’m assuming Vee, if not this season, will be ready to be a major player next season) and I think the Hoyas will not only be deep enough, I think the team will have probably the best collection of guards (in terms of experience and talent) in the nation. I don’t want the Hoyas to go after the more obvious choice of a small forward to make up for the loss of Roscoe (and Nikita) simply because I don’t think there are any quality ones around still who are on the Hoyas’ radar (and vice versa). And frankly if Monroe is around and if Austin is still in the starting lineup as a SF, a three-star or borderline four-star SF isn’t likely to get major minutes from III next season anyhow. There would just be too many players to hand distribute minutes too.
If Monroe doesn’t return I hope III would then go after two more players and call it a day. One would have to be a big man of course. The other one…doesn’t matter. The team will just need another body, any position is okay just as long as the player is a quality player.

We need to recruit two big men. In two years both Greg and Julian will be gone.

I agree that if Monroe leaves you can consider bringing in two more bigs to go along with Nate for the class of 2010. But if Monroe stays another season then bringing in two more guys to go along with Nate would be overkill.

Gotta love the dookies: "Good news TRoss should have all our focus now any way. There is no way Roscoe could have made the grades for school like Duke. I'm sure UCON has a very good comunications degree should be interesting how long it takes roscoe to score a qualifing SAT score.." forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=167&f=1386&t=5426344

Some of the best recruits are those developed while on the roster. Remember Don Reid. There are programs with no McDonalds or Parade All-american, etc. that make the NCAA tournament consistently.

Valuable point here. If you look at most any McD's player now even (excepting the Walls/Durants), there are adjustments and skill developments that simply need to be made for players to become the caliber that they are expected to be as a result of the recruiting fan sites and national analyst types. Every year, there is a new #10 ranked player in the country. Every year, that guy is the guy a team/fans views as the next Reggie Williams, the next Bobby Hurley, or whatever the case may be. The worst is the "well, he is a Iverson kind of player" comparisons that pop up in every program as a means of characterizing style when the ability simply isn't there. Lost are the guys who buckle down over summer - see Hibbert/Vaughn as examples of varying degrees - when frankly these guys were written off. I know I had Vaughn written off by the time he went to FSU, and many on this board ran him down after last year. He remade his game and got away from the outside-in stuff that he could get away with in HS. Give us more of that - more of the JWalls of the world too - and let's go to war with those guys.

Wow, balla over at his "board' (it's really more like a blog) is a total joke. He guaranteed Roscoe would come, and deleted posts and banned posters who disagreed with him. Then, when people legitimately call him out on it, he nukes the thread and makes no comment. What a clown.

What a fraud and a coward balla turned out to be(or to some always was). Does anyone else find it odd that the announcement came via a text from his Pops and not Roscoe? I know it doesn't matter in the long run for us Hoya fans but I just thought the it was strange that the biggest decision in the kids life didn't "technically" come from him.

As a member of both boards, I'm disappointed. After so many guarantees, I was expecting some sort of explanation (not an apology). Then again, after so many guarantees, why would he have it?!
Let it be a lesson to all "recruiting gurus" out there: no 100% guarantees (unless the recruit is your son/brother/cousin you're living with) or you risk losing credibility. Stick to analysis of the recruits' skills ONLY IF YOU HAVE SEEN THEM PLAY. Speculate all you want about college destinations, like all the Dookies, Suckies and other ya-hoos do, but please, no 100% guarantees.
As for Balla, he did get Nate's recruitment right and his "skills" analysis is excellent.
BTW, I'm writing this here because I don't like all the unnecessary deleting going on there.

Oh, wait! It's just a verbal! Balla might be right after all. Check back in August '10. This is what I'll believe from now on.

where are all his fans, his legion? weren't they on here and other sites defending bulla, and ripping people who dared question his claims? look the reason some of us had issues was due to his attitude and how disrespectful he was towards other hoya fans. plus the fact he is never right and is called on it. and just the other day he deleted posts and threatened posters with banishment for even suggesting there are other possibilities. of course hitching his sail to roscoe and making it plain to everyone his OPINION destroyed any cred he had left. what a punk he has become!

God I hope we win this game.

Will RDF and guru and MCI come to his defense this time or keep their traps shut? Hoyballa has jumped the shark the 2nd time and may that board be as barren as a Detroit factory. Btw, someone tell wright not take those early tough shots and run the offense to work for a better one.
