You're a broken record on Drudge, you should come up with a new shtick. Also, posting links regarding polling that shows perhaps as many as 45% of Chicagoans (?) are against the city getting the games is not "rooting" against the bid. No, but framing the Derrion Albert murder in terms of the Olympic Bid sure seems like it. How is Drudge doing that? CBS: "Will Derrion Albert's Beating Death Video Hurt Chicago's Olympic Dreams?" NBC - "The mayor is out fighting for the Olympics, and our youth are here fighting for their lives!" shouted a woman calling herself "Queen Sister." CNN - Asked about the killing as Obama prepares to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, to lobby the International Olympic Committee to award Chicago the 2016 Games, Gibbs described the videotape of the attack as "among the most shocking that you can ever see."

Hmm...those are a little different than "Olympic Spirit : Video Shows Brutal Gang Murder In Chicago", and everything he has up there today is rooting against the bid (boy critically beaten, olympic protest gone wrong, Rio goes on offensive, etc etc).

If it makes you feel any better, Lisa Kudrow (of all people) also happens to be on the side of the sane people on this issue. My favorite part about this (and yes, I feel badly about that phrasing, there should never be anything "favorite" about anything involving rape) is how ridiculous these Hollywood people are making themselves sound in the aftermath of this arrest. From Whoopi's now-infamous "there's rape and then there's rape-rape" comments, to Woody "Uhhh, You're Not Helping, Guy" Allen supporting Polanski, to these immortal words from Harvey Weinstein: "Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion. We were the people who did the fundraising telethon for the victims of 9/11. We were there for the victims of Katrina and any world catastrophe."Hollywood has the best moral compass? Really? You're going to try to pull that off with a straight face, are you? Hey, good for you that you put on a 9-11 and Katrina benefit. Honestly. I really do mean that. Now, having said that, do you know how many private citizens in the country and around the world gave so much more of themselves to help 9-11 victims? Do you know how many people volunteered days, weeks and months instead of just appearing on TV for a night (where George Bush was called a racist, by the way) to help hurricane victims? And they did it without asking for any publicity or thanks, you clown. Hollywood has the best moral compass? I really can't get enough of that statement. Shall I run down the list of utter trash movies that Miramax has greenlighted over the years? (I grant that Miramax also has done some really great movies, no question, but still...) Other than my satisfaction at Hollywood figures showing the entire world what boobs they truly are, one other positive to come out of this is that according to one, at least, it maybe something that truly unites left and right: hotair.com/archives/2009/10/01/a-right-left-consensus-building-on-polanski/I can guarantee you, this is the only time in your life you are ever going to see the Hot Air blog come out and praise the likes of The Washington Post, Susan Estrich and The Huffington Post.

You have to remember that there are a hundred punks about to graduate from Syracuse who would beg to bring him coffee and Red Vines.

Drudge for whatever reason has MOST CERTAINLY been throwing his considerable weight on top of the Chicago bid in an attempt to suffocate it. I mean they seem to be actively rooting against Chicago getting the bid. You're a broken record on Drudge, you should come up with a new shtick. Also, posting links regarding polling that shows perhaps as many as 45% of Chicagoans (?) are against the city getting the games is not "rooting" against the bid.

I've noticed that too. It's really Hollywood liberals vs. everyone else, rather than liberals vs. conservatives. Hell, it's not even France vs. USA, as 70% of respondents to an online Le Figaro poll want him to face justice. I wonder how bad the pressure has to be for young actors to hop on the Free Roman movement. Looking at all those big names on the petition, you'd have to fear for your career if you spoke against the grain, no? I found a list of celebrities bucking the trend earlier, I'll try to see if I can find it again. (notables were Kirsty Alley, Kevin Smith, Jewel, Lisa Kudrow, and Bill Maher).

What crap. Even as a lawyer, I find the statement (at least as set forth below) to be an incomprehensible mishmash of legalistic gobbledygook. www.swissinfo.ch/eng/politics/Polanski_will_not_be_extradited_to_the_US.html?cid=15389712Filmmaker Roman Polanski will not be extradited to the United States, the Swiss Justice Ministry has decided. "The reason for the decision lies in the fact that it was not possible to exclude with the necessary certainty a fault in the US extraditionary request," it said in a statement on Monday. "Considering all the aspects of this case – and in particular the extradition request which is not satisfying as far as the presentation of the facts of the case is concerned and the principles of state action deriving from international public order – the extradition request has to be rejected," the statement concluded.

Apparently the United States refused to provide a transcript of a confidential hearing held in 2009 or 2010 (can't remember). Because Los Angeles prosecutors MIGHT have represented at this hearing that Polanski would be sentenced to time served if he returned to the United States, the extradition request MIGHT have been void (because Polanski would have "served his entire sentence"). So yes, basically it's crap. Switzerland's rejection of the extradition request cannot be appealed. Interestingly, pretty much all the prosecutors can do now is leave the charge pending which would restrict Polanski's movement until he dies. What are the odds he ever leaves France again?

Can we send Liam Neeson to Europe after him? I'd almost prefer that method of justice.
