Stop asking foolish questions lad. If we are recruiting someone else after Otto Von Biz we obviously have another scholly available. No more questions young man this is a bottom line business. Isn't any 2011 recruit a moot discussion given we just signed Otto and are -1 scholly at the moment?

We are Georgetown." I guess there will be more open scholarships in this "new era" than we anticipated. www.casualhoya.com/2011/4/13/2108216/-georgetown-hoops-awards-banquet-recap

I am willing to bet that the Kevin Ware quote occurred before OP's verbal and that the 2011 class is now officially closed.

Seems JT3 is sick of losing. This is a cutthroat business. People will say bad things about you in the end but the bottom line is winning. Schollies are renewable yearly..do what you must do to compete as long as you are not breaking the rules.

Bronxie I will wager a dozen doughnuts that JTIII has not, and will not, yank a schollie from a Hoya. He may make it clear that vast improvement would be needed to earn playing time, but I just don't think he would actually boot a kid out of the program.

You dont think saying "son you will never play here and I will help you find a new school" is booting someone? Seems JT3 is sick of losing. This is a cutthroat business. JTIII - "There's a reason why I taught you the lesson about the flat basketball. At some point you will not be able to dribble the ball any more"
Player - "Yeah, but I thought that would be after I graduated!"
JTIII - "Thems the breaks, kid"

There is a difference between "you will never play here" and "we have recruited some great talent at your position, you are going to have to improve tremendously to be able to compete for time next season" - maybe a subtle difference, but still a difference. And more importantly, if the player said he still wanted to stay a Hoya, get an education, work hard and see what happens, I don't believe that JTIII would ever just cut that kid loose.

Well they couldn't stay on the roster if they weren't playing and without a scholarship thats the end of the road for most kids attending the school on a full ride.

I don't believe JTIII would ever refuse to renew a kid's scholarship if the kid wanted to stay. Others may do it. I don't think we would.

JT3 either knows a transfer imminant or is forced to squeeze a kid out of a scholly. Either way, he doen't seem like the type of gut that would take a situation like this lightly. I like the Porter move because the team needed it. I just don't see him forcing the issue even more by adding a 6th recruit.

I fully believe that a player has already come to JTIII and told him he intends to transfer, and that Coach may well be helping the kid figure out his next move. If we are still recruiting anyone for next year, Coach knows that more than one kid is leaving. But we will find out before long I suspect, don't think we would leave hanging the fact that we now have more players than schollies for next season.

It's also interesting that Hoyas and UCLA seem to be after all of the same guards.

Both teams are somewhat desperate for good guard play. We of course need to replace wright and Freeman, ucla is relying on a juco transfer to run the point, Malcolm lee is testing the waters, and Anderson is somewhat of a bust. Larry drew 2 is sitting out next year.

UCLA just made a move by hiring former Atlanta Celtics guy as an Assistant--this could help their chances with Kevin Ware--and for those that dont' follow this type of stuff--UCLA is an Adidas School as is Louisville-but with McCray in place--it now makes sense why so many former Atlanta Celtics guys (Jordan Adams, Jordan Price, Shaq Goodwin) kept listing UCLA who under Howland hasn't been known to be a recruiting force outside of West Coast.

The Bruins have a freshman guard from San Diego coming in next year, and also just announced the signing of another juco guard with the great name of Da'end Parker. He's the last of seven kids, and when he was born, his mother said, that's the end.

Hearing whispers that Ware may be confronted with eligibility issues. Hopefully he can work that out.
