I think Christmas would be very happy if he decided to become a Hoya. He, along with Nate, Hollis, Markel, Clark, Vee and Roscoe would be nasty.
I know this is a little off topic but since Macklin was discussed in this thread....he had another solid performance tonight scoring 14 points. The kicker is that he went 4 for 4 from the line....go figure!!

I don't know that GU seeming like an outlier on the list is necessarily an advantage for us. Yes, we, as GU alums and/or Hoya fans, see it as a benefit, because we love our school and team. But if a guy is looking at a bunch of big state schools in other conferences, it might mean that kind of school appeals to him more. As hard as it may be to believe, what makes us different from a lot of other schools is not inherently beneficial; every individual has his own priorities.
That being said, I don't know why any high school (basketball) center would choose a giant school where football is king, or a minor program coached by a notoriously bad coach/GM, over our Georgetown community, where basketball is hands down the top sport, and where we turn our big men into millionaires.
(See, even if he's not into the GU academic reputation or DC location, it's still an easy choice. And for the record, I do think GU is inherently better than all those other places, it's just that some others might (wrongly in my mind) disagree.)

IMO he will be a Hoya if there's a scholarship available...

IMO he will be a Hoya if there's a scholarship available... We have at least three scholarships available for the class of 2011 (Freeman, Vaughn and Wright). We also still have one available (which, I believe is for Roscoe) for next year that would obviously carry over to 2011 if we don't add another player, and there's also Greg's schollie, which could obviously become available early. So, there could be up to 5 scholarships for 2011, but there will for sure be at least 3 available.

There is ALWAYS a scholarship available for a guy like Rakeem. So if he wants to come to Gtown, there is space.
And didn't we forget to mention the likes of Mr. Boumtje-Boumtje and Mr. Sweetney?

Yeah, you "fidget" the numbers a little (or else Cal isn't very good with numbers. Apparently his team is only 5-5). But seriously, we will have space for Rak. He is our number one target in the class of 2011.

That sounds a little Calipari to me. Question: was Omar asked to leave? I've never heard any rumors to that effect. Furthermore, when Omar signed, he talked about understanding that he was a backup as a frosh and soph but that he wanted to see that if by his junior year, he could play at the high major level. I've always assumed he saw that he wasn't going to get PT and moved on. I also assume that our staff was honest about his prospects for PT going into junior year.

As best as I remember it: "Now Omar, I'd have to say our biggest surprise of the season was seeing his decision to transfer on the ESPN ticker" Most awesomeist backhanded comment ever

Omar's decision to leave had very little to do with pt. I'll leave it at that. Christmas has a spot available. Like damn said, he's the top target. Why wouldn't he be? GU needs bigs in that class and he's the top PF in that class, imo.

At the next level, there is no doubt he is a 4.
I think it will depends on who he plays with. Rak runs the floor very well, good rebounder and shot blocker. He is working on improving his outside shot right now. As HoyaSinceBirth mentioned, he is only 6'8. So if we pick up someone like Mo (who is 6'10), he would play PF alongside Mo. But Rak figures to get lots of time playing alongside Nate who is also 6'8 and a 4 (Sims will also still be around but he's not a banger). Will be interesting to see how Nate and Rak play together if he comes to the Hilltop (and I'm hoping he does!).
