I think the meet starts today, with the multi-events, but the real action will start on Thursday. I will be there on Saturday and think the Hoyas should be able to put together some good teams. Don't know if Bumbi is running, but am still quite excited. Anyone have any thoughts?

Don't know if Bumbi is running, but am still quite excited. Anyone have any thoughts? Penn Relays website preview doesn't mention bumbi, so i guess he is redshirting. With Bumby I would say we'd have a good shot at top 3 in the dmr, without him we shld be competitive, with placement depending on who else shows up. I think that we don't have a natural guy other than Boylan-Pett for the 1200 in the DMR who will certainly run the 1600 leg. We shld have a pretty fast 400 leg with Ulm, decent 800 by maloy who is running well and strong anchor from Boylan-Pett. The 4 X 8 shld be better than it has been in a while + it will be interesting to see how Ulm uses his 50 flat 400H speed in the 4 X 800. I would think that the women have a legit top three shot at all the distance relays, i.e., 4 X8, DMR, 4 X 1500.--Infeld sisters, Tomlin et al. In the individual events it will be interesting to see how Katie McCafferty does in a loaded 3k field and Dan Nunn translates his low 28 10k speeed to the 5K.

Yes, doesn't look as if Bumbi is running. I don't think the 4xmile will be very competitive without Bumbi and with Levi Miller just getting back (from injuries) (note his 4:08, 1500m race) and Roberts and Taye have the talent, but haven't shown any good races this outdoor season.
I too am interested in seeing how Toby Ulm (britishhoya on this board) will do in the relays, especially in the 4x800. Boylan-Pett is the constant in these relays, as he has been running well. If perhaps the Hoyas win the 4x800m, he might be the only guy to win this relay for two different schools, as Columbia won with him a couple of years ago. Now as a grad student and eligibility for the outdoor season, he has a chance to make history.

I think the women will be competitive, although they don't have the closer to go 2:02 in the 800m, but most of the legs on the relays should be solid. Abi Johnson is improving rapidly, so the 400m leg on the DMR should be good.

In the first major relay of the Penn Relays and a relay in which we stood our best chance of a victory, the DMR, the women of Georgetown finished a close 2nd to the University of Tennessee (I believe indoor NCAA champs) in a time of 11:02.85 to UT's 11:02.11. Maggie Infeld closed the gap on UT's Sarah Bowman from about 30m to 5m at the end. Great work for the women with Maggie and Emily Infeld, Renee Tomlin, and Abigail Johnson.

All of our legs were equal to or faster than the UT legs except the 800m (and Renee ran a faster leg than she has ever run):
Tennessee 11:02.11 Phoebe Wright (3:22.2), Kimarra McDonald (54.7), Chanelle Price (2:04.5), Sarah Bowman (4:40.7) AA 2 Georgetown 11:02.85 Emily Infield (3:22.2), Abigail Johnson (54.4), Renee Tomlin (2:06.4), Maggie Infield (4:39.8)
Great effort for the women!

More results, but from individual races.
3000m 4. Katie McCafferty 9:37.34 9. Kelsey Malmquist 9:48.5 10. Lise Ogrodnick 9:50.08
3000m HS 2. Emily Jones 9:32.22 (recruit for next year and faster than the winner of the college women's 3000m championship)
5000m Olympic Development 3. Natasha LaBeaud 16:25.96
5000m 3. Mike Krisch 14:00.71 16. Levi Miller 14:16.18 (coming back from injuries) 21. Dan Nunn 14:22.71 (either Dan is hurt or just doing these runs as tempo runs, since his time today is at a slower pace that he did his 10000m recently). 27. TC Lumbar 14:43.36 DNF Justin Scheid
One relay 4x400 15. Georgetown women 3:46.21 (Wernik, Finley, Sanders, Moses)

The women did great in the 4x1500m relay, breaking the Penn Relays record by 4 seconds. Only trouble is that Tennessee broke the PR record by 7 seconds: 17:08.34 to 17:11.80. Renee Tomlin ran a fantastic third leg to give Maggie Infeld a lead of about 15m. It might have been too good, since Maggie had to run the 1500m by herself, whereas Sarah Bowman of UT was able to run with three others. She caught Maggie with about 200m to go and she had the better kick.

The members of the 4x1500m relay are Christine Whalen, Emily Infeld, Renee Tomlin, and Maggie Infeld. They all did very well.

The Hoyas beat the Univ. of Washington in the 4x1500m by almost three seconds. UW won the NCAA XC champs this year easily, and some of their runners are the best milers in the country.

That is an unbelievable job by the girls there. Broke the collegiate record as well. Nothing you can do to stop a girl running 4:10, but their overall team effort was incredible. Congrats!

Yes, quickplay, Sarah Bowman ran a 4:10.2 - smoking fast!
But the Hoyas put together a fantastic effort; look at these marks: Christine Whalen (usually an 800m runner) 4:20.2 (great lead off); Emily Infeld 4:17.5, Renee Tomlin 4:16.7; Maggie Infeld 4:17.4. Something like 4:24 qualifies for regionals; so everybody went under that by quite a bit.

The men debuted in the hurdles relay. They finished 5th behind some traditional sprint/hurdles schools (e.g., Florida, South Carolina). They had a time of 56.12.

The hurdles relay team for the Hoyas: Kinney, Gissendanner, Okengwu, Austin. The Hoyas won heat number two, but the fast heat was number one.

Congrats to the women for 2 outstanding runs in the 4 X1500 + DMR + breaking the meet & school 4 X 1500 record. The video's of the races and an interview with Tomlin, Infeld sisters , Whalen are up on www. flotrack.org. All of the women either equaled or hit Pr's on the relays which is about all you could ask for. Its great that Christine Whalen has all of a sudden become an elite runner, after struggling with injuries I presume for most of her time at Gtwn. Hopefully the women are able to field their top lineup for another shot at a title in the 4 X8 today. the women would be a bigger underdog to Tennesseee than they were in the 4X1500 or DMR, but they are running in top form so they still have a shot. The men were pretty much out of the dmr after the first leg which left them about 3-4 seconds behind the leaders. The other legs were comparable to the top few teams. If the men run well they should have a pretty good 4 X 8 today.

Interesting that the men did not contest the 4 X Mile, where they shld have been one of the favorites. I guess they were trying to preserve boylan-pett for the 4 X 8. Hopefully they can pull off a good 4 X 8.
