I just can't live my life as a pessimist. I can't temper my expectations so I'm not hurt later. That's Edited Edited. I believe in the best in this team. If I have to deal with a season like this oh well. Screw being pleasantly surprised. Back of next year's shirt: I Find Your Lack of Faith Distrurbing That would be ironic since everyone questions Georgetown's catholic identity.

I think the starting line ups with Thompson starting are quite over zealous. Most of us here have not even seen the kid play.
Starting 5 next year: Monroe Sims Freeman Clark Wright
Those are your best 5 players. I think JTIII really likes Clark and will start him next season.

I think most people are putting Hollis in the starting 5 because of the Andy Katz article where JT3 gives that as the line-up he envisions....

also right now if we don't pick up another guard in the offseason, with that line up we have no guards off the bench.

and with that lineup we have zero length, which is precisely what nobody wants to see, not to mention two guys playing out of position. I think everyone knows that the freeman at the three experiment has failed. He's a two, he needs to play the two, he doesn't play bigger than his height, he doesn't rebound bigger than his height, and he needs to guard other twos.
Those are just some of the reasons I pray for Hollis to be good enough to start and command major minutes

Freeman needs to be an effective 2 for this team to reach its potential. Hopefully he will focus on getting leaner and quicker, to guard the 2 spot. I think Hollis will be ready.

Why are we assuming that we have latavious and vee in the fold, when we have exactly zero indication that either will commit, much less sign?

Where is the proff that Freeman is an effective 2? Can he guard 2-guards? How is his ballhandling? Does he post-up other 2-guards with his size advantage? Is he quick enough to be a 2-guard? Is he a good passer, and can he play interchangeably with Wright in the backcourt for our offense to run effectively? Like Wallace & Sapp, Sapp & Cook, and Wallace & Cook used to do? Maybe he started at the 3 for a reason the majority of his career.

I agree that Austin at the 2 doesn't sound very appetizing, but the alternative is start Jason at the 2 and have NO guards on the bench. Obviously this can change if we get someone like Sanford to fill the backup role. I do however think a Hollis-Henry-Greg lineup would be a great thing for our frontcourt, so the staff has to find a ballance

He's an effective two, no matter how hard you're going to try to argue to the contrary. You like to dump all over our players needlessly, but Freeman can shoot, he can score the ball, he can finish in traffic and he can handle the ball. He's not a three by any stretch. He's a two, and I think with added quickness he can be one of the best two's in the league. He started at the three because our coach think's he's one of our best five players and wanted him on the court so Sapp wouldn't sit. The fact that he started at the three was a complement to him.
So go ahead and try to argue otherwise....all evidence points to the contrary.

My point is that it would be far better for the team if Freeman can develope into an effective 2. He didn't seem to cut it as a 3. If he can't trim down, quick-up, and become an effective 2, he won't have a position on any successful major college program, much less the NBA.

So basically what you are saying is you want Freeman to miracously transform into the 2nd coming of David Wingate or Victor Page, right? lol seriously though, this is the same transformation wanted by people on thsi board with Summers. They wanted Summers to somehow transform into Jeff Green. Freeman is what he is. Its been 2 years. He isn't getting smaller. Its the opposite direction. He isn't string bean by nature. His built is his built. JTIII recruited him, and seems okay with his weight. Given the player he is, he is best at the 3, offensively and defensively. Now if he can somehow transform himself into the explosive slashing 2-guard, a lot folks seem to think he can become, than yeah, he is has the 2-guard on lock.

Sometimes I think the way is actually a Cuse student. While your posts are usually grammatically correct, lengthy, and tend to possess some element of truth, they more often criticize the players, attempt to bring down confidence in the team, and relegate players to being incapable of being any more than they were when they came.
Bottom line, with what we have right now, the lineup will be Monroe/Henry/Hollis/Freeman/Wright. This is actually a very intriguing starting 5 and it is one that will prove to be more successful than last years team just based on cohesion and a weaker league IMHO.

That's a lot different from just being a 2-guard. The 2-guard I want is a consistently good outside shooter, can handle the ball, and is an effective passer. I don't need him to be explosive, slashing or anything else like that. Freeman fits that mold fine if he can find his shot again. (Note to Freeman, stop fading away so much on jump shots).

really. this is nonsense. how is austin anything other than a two? we've had three guard lien-ups for the aslt two years. its not like austinw as palying the small forward position, he was just the starter most capable of matching up with an opposing team's three man because of his size. austin has always been a two. particularly this year on a team with only three guards.

All I want from Freeman is to hit his shots and work hard on D.
He's a very good player if he does that. But the rate at which his missed outside shots last year really hurt.
