Congrats Greg. Regardless of team performance, as a freshman, you were one of the more consistently solid contributors. Perhaps that is why we sucked.

Congratulations to Greg. Nice to see that, despite the team's lack of collective success this year, his efforts and skill were not overlooked.

Is there a link yet for this announcement?
Congrats to Greg. He must be as disappointed as anybody about the season (esp. today's game), but let's hope that this gives him a little shot in the arm and reminds him that he has a lot of room to grow and learn at Georgetown.

Very, very small consolation prize, but congratulations, Greg. Here's to you sticking around for at least one more year, to help fix this mess.

Great to see Greg saying all the right things. Two thoughts:
1. He's one player who would benefit his team by being more selfish. "I never taken pride in any personal achievements." I get it. I do. I love that he says that without any prompting. He's a great kid and a talented ball player but it's time for him to understand that "getting his" and dominating lesser players is exactly what this team -- his team -- needs.
2. Given the lack of depth in this year's draft pool, he's gone IMHO.

I don't think hes gone, I don't think any of his quotes indicate hes gone. Infact they show he is very adament about returning. Also, despite being a "weak" draft, he is no where near ready for the NBA, which is really the most important thing.

"“Yeah I definitely will be used to it,” Monroe said of the Big East’s physicality. “A lot more strength will help. After a year of experience at anything you do, coming into it next year, I’ll know what to expect, I’ll know a lot more about all the teams and the players, and I’ll definitely be ready for next year.”"
Thank you.
Congrats Greg for a great season!

Also, despite being a "weak" draft, he is no where near ready for the NBA, which is really the most important thing. Let me clarify: You're right, he's nowhere near ready for the NBA. He's often too timid for the BE, he'd get slaughtered at the next level. I completely agree and certainly don't want him to leave. Second, his comments were great. I said that in my post. They were spot on and indicate he's a great kid and a great teammate. I simply don't believe the kid can pass up a top 5 lottery spot. I hope I'm wrong. IMO, he's gone.

Despite Espn mock draftboard, I see very little chance he will actually be projected to go in the top five. Even if he is I really wouldn't be surprised to see him stay, because the NBA could kill him next year.

Congratulations to Greg Monroe. Well deserved. I thought the overall performance of the team would cost him this accolade. I'm glad they got it right. Though I don't think Chris Wright is coach of the year. I do think he progressed nicely for, essentially, a freshman guard. Well done guys. Keep working.

Dixon should have been COY. If not Dixon, then Mike Brey, just because. Actually, I think my second choice would have been Keno Davis.
