If you look at the FG% having not seen the game, we obviously won. If you look at the TOs, we obviously lost. This is not a good formula for the rest of the season. Must cut down on TOs. Sloppy passes and lackadaisacal play on Offense will not cut it. Protecting the ball and crisp ball movement is a must. Also must make sure that breakaway layups become just that, 2 points, not a bad TO. this game was heart attack city.

I'd actually most like to see Cincy in round 2 of the BET, because I think it's one of the hardest things in college bball to beat the same team 3 times. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, we have a just as critical game at MSG THIS week.

I had a feeling we were going to win this game all week, mostly because I knew our effort would eventually be rewareded and Villanova played poorly against Depaul. Very rarely is a win ever a wake-up call.
I wouldn't worry about the turnovers too much, I'm fairly confident if you look at the numbers we have had 15+ turnovers everytime we play Nova in the regular season.

We are most likely the 11 seed.

It seemed like CW was much better than usual today about getting stuck under the basket and launching ill-advised layup/and1 attempts. I loved Monroe today. The steal-and-drive (albeit a little gawky), the alley-oop, the position D, the low post game. All better than the last couple games IMO. Henry: stop shooting the deep ball. Great block early on though, big man. Jessie = ONIONS defense today.

I don't want us to get too ahead of ourselves, but it's only Nova.

We had 15 assists on 22 baskets. Not bad.

saw improvement today.
i think the fact that we have been almost eliminated from the NCAA's gave our guys a nothing to lose mindset. WE weren't tight or pressing as much (like the Louisville game). We could just go out there and play basketball. And we did just that.
we didn't rely solely on the 3....we ATTACKED the basket.
we actually had good ball movement today.
we actually played some defense.
we actually hustled and scrapped for loose balls, etc.
villanova could not match our itensity. all day. yes folks, we had some INTENSITY out there. villanova took us for granted early, and we were right there. then when they turned up their intensity early in the 1st half on the defensive end, we answered right back and didn't fade.
JTIII made some great substitutions all game.
*quick note: i also don't think it was a coincidence that freeman's foul trouble and lack of production didn't deter our success today on the court. something to watch in the future.
this felt like Georgetown basketball today.
Nikita, Sims, and Clark all got meaningful minutes today. and yes, stop bashing NIkita. dude can play, and he asserted himself today. great athletic skils and can move. Sims hustled a lot. Loved that block of his in the 1st half.
Monroe, solid game....just need to hit the weight room hard in the summer. He has a hard time in traffic in the paint. Needs to get stronger. Will do wonders for him and the Princeton offense and help on the defensive front too once he gets some strength.
yeah, it wasn't pretty. yeah we coulda squandered it. but we didn't. WE FINISHED. thats an achievement for us.
good win, now let's build on it. the next game...we need to focus on improving and playing Georgetown basketball.

The 25 TOs were ugly, but we turned them over a ton too. Obviously, I'd like us to be crisper, but as long as the margins between the teams aren't terrible, I can live with the high number.
If only we could find a way to put the offense from the MU game with the defense from today's game.

Now we have to root for a few of our adversaries to keep winning: Nova, UConn, Memphis, Syracuse and ...yes maybe even Maryland, which is looking more and more like a very solid win. Before you scream, I know that they are competing with us for the bubble, but it would add to our quality wins and it was on a neutral court.

Great game by Nikita! Loved the fake 3 and step for 2!
Our defense won it today!! Keep the defensive pressure on and we win out the rest of the regular season.
DS had several key baskets and that penetration for and-1 was beautiful. Now, 8 TOs is horrible. He had as many TOs as FGAs. Is 8 TOs a record for a Hoya player in a single game?

I had a good feeling about this game when they showed them coming out of the locker room and a few of them we actually smiling! Even though we played sloppily and poorly on the offensive end, we actually looked like we were having fun today. The bench was always standing, and cheering, no one got too down after a bad play. Yes, it was ugly, yes we played poorly on offense, but we acually walked off the court with smiles and our heads held high, and in the end thats all that matters.
All I hope is that this is the spark that ignites a run through the rest of the Big East regular season and maybe through the BET. With this group though, who knows.

I think one of the things we learned today was that Monroe is more effective at the 4 than the 5... even in college. That doesn't bode well for his NBA prospects after this year. Hopefully he realizes that. I am a little disconcerted by the fact that he didn't score in the second half. He had a decent game, but I'd still like to see him assert himself more.

Bosox, I agree tath his future is at the 4 and for that reason, I have always thought he would be back next year and even for his junior season. His goal this summer has to be the weight room and developing an outside shot.

Our RPI and SOS are definitely high enough for bubble consideration already - we have the quality wins - we need to win out and hope for the number of teams on the bubble to shrink.

I think the_way had a point that the guys played this game, not as a must win game, but as a game that they could win and have some fun. I don't know if they had fun, but they won. Just build on this for either this year (hopefully) or next year (definitely).

Having them OUT of the bubble discussion would benefit us much more than having them be a -slightly- "better" win. Besides, they are, after all, Maryland. Do we really want them to do well? C'mon!

Well you can't possibly lose every game playing 5 on 8. That last call where Clark deflected the ball out of bounds, we had been consistently getting reamed by the refs again. It was unbelievable how two teams separated by over 20-25 FG% managed to stay close. We've got to get to the line more than we have been, period. But on the road, I think we should expect that.
This team learned how to win a close game today, which will serve it well for the future. That means getting stops in crunch time on the defensive end.
For all the grief we've been giving Dajuan and Nikita, both stepped up today. Gotta give them both props.
Unbelievably happy with the overall team effort today, and for a change they were finally rewarded with a positive result. I hope they use this win today as a springboard for the next 2 weeks.

Just build on this for either this year (hopefully) or next year (definitely). I hope someone had fun, because the last 10 minutes of the game was torture for me (and I'm sure most of us). Feels pretty good now though.
