Official announcement from the interim AD at the Hoya Hoop Club meeting tonight: "The Hoyas will return to wearing Blue and Gray uniforms next season".
I was as disappointed as everyone to not see the grays tonight, but am very happy they'll be back next year.

And although I really believe that the Hoyas can make a run at the NCAA's and the BET title, here's to us REALLY being back next season!
We will be back not only in terms of our uniforms, not only in terms of coming off a solid season with another JT leading the way, but with Ashanti and Bo Bo as seniors, and the rest of our young team taking it to the next level, let's head all the way to the FINAL FOUR baby!
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! ROLLOVER RUTGERS AT THE RAC!

Was there any mention of the blue changing from current teal to something darker like navy?

Great news! Does this change have anything to do with the sentiments on the board, etc?

I hope by "return" they mean back to navy.
This is GREAT news.
Between this and the news of the survey, it sounds like the athletic department is growing ears.
Let's all pray that they grow a brain too . . .

No specifics. It was at the end of the question and answer and I think he wanted to guarantee ending on a good note.
Other Q and A's (all paraphrased):
Q:Where are we at in the process of finding a permanent AD? A: A nation-wide search will get going this summer.
Q: How will the Big East be set-up next year in terms of who plays who? A: A lot of things are being discussed taking into account traditional rivalries and geography. The one thing that has been decided is that no teams two teams will play each other less than every other year, and all 16 teams will be aligned under one division.
Q: Who is representing Georgetown in these discussions? A: There are 3 AD meetings a year at which our interim AD represents us, and there are 2 meetings a year with the University Presidents.
Q: With the students returning in droves, can we return to the system of having students under both baskets or otherwise improve their seating? A: Different things have been discussed. Putting them all the way around the court will not happen. The possibility exists of having students at both ends, but they want to keep the young alumni club seating as well. (No real decisions have been made here).
Q: Would there be any scenario under which any Georgetown team would ever play any Boston College team in the future? A: If it made sense to play them we would.
There was lots else discussed that I'm sure someone can fill in. And let me note again: everything above was not direct quotes, just my basic recollections of the answers.

Official announcement from the interim AD at the Hoya Hoop Club meeting tonight: "The Hoyas will return to wearing Blue and Gray uniforms next season". That can only be interpretted to mean the original blue and gray, as in the North and South. Teal can't be part of that. At least, that's how I read it.

sounds like a whole lotta nothin - but i would expect nothing less from GU administration There was defimitely a tone of being open to new ideas and pushing for more promotion to build on this year's success. Two other notes: There seemed to be an attitude of that the on-campus arena is a pipe dream or so down the road that we shouldn't plan for it and our efforts should be on how to make the MCI Center a better home. I also asked about how we can work with the Big East and local TV stations to get our games televised locally in the future. The answer: our current Big East contract with ESPN goes through next season, and basically they have rights to our games whether they use them or not. There are some cases where local stations can pick up our games but it's in the hands of ESPN. Getting more of our games televised locally (by which I mean greater Washington DC) will be a priority for us as we discuss TV options for the 2006-2007 season and beyond. But until then there's not much that can be done.

For the hundreth time, we don't wear teal. The San Jose Sharks, they wear teal. Wore, I should say. When there was an NHL.
[rant]
I'm kinda Editeded though. They have this "Retro Night", encourage everyone to dress like idiots (well, except for the pimp, everybody looked syupid in costume..c'mon, it was retro night, not clown night...I digress), and then the team doesn't wear the old-style uniforms. We played well in them last year, no reason not to bring 'em back now. Especially for freakin' "Retro Night".

There seemed to be an attitude of that the on-campus arena is a pipe dream or so down the road that we shouldn't plan for it and our efforts should be on how to make the MCI Center a better home. Frankly, that's an attitude that is going to have to change. The rising cost of off-campus basketball will continue to affect the long-term viability of the entire program, and the athletics staff as a whole needs a better facility to work in--it's a 55 year old building without any major renovations since it opened.

First off, I think only a lic style outburst can convey how happy I am with this decision-WEEEERRREEEE BAAACCCCKKKKK;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm kinda Editeded though. [/rant] I bet JT3 vetoed the retros. My guess is he said something like "our job is to play basketball, not to participate in retro night. This is just a distraction" That said, I still wish they'd worn the retros-they're soooo much better than the current ones.

It may have also been just the attitude of an interim AD who wants to get something done with his time at the helm. I would think we would need a permanent AD in place to really spearhead any plans for an on-campus arena.

There is no part of this that is not great news.
But I'm wondering...next year.
I seem to recall at least one time in the past - Zo's freshman year but I think there were a couple others - when Georgetown broke out the new unis, they did it NOT at the beginning of a new season, but actually on the first weekend in March...in a little gym known as Madison Square Garden.
First things first, we have to win in the regular season to ensure that we can have at least ONE game in MSG where we're the "home" team. But if that happened, how pumped would you be to see the Hoyas taking the floor this spring in the new/old greys?
Just the thought of it is making me giddy. I almost forgive myself for my bonehead move last night. . .you know, that guy who taped ESPNNews by accident instead of ESPN Classic?
Yeah, that was me.
D'OH, D'OH, D'OH, D'OH, D'OH! ! !
