The stuff that bothers me most is when you mention stuff like Nike not letting us change back, and I think DFW will agree.
If we are in a situation where we have to worry about Nike not letting us do stuff then we are in serious trouble. The athletic department, "Team DeGioia", whoever, must tell Nike that we will only wear our traditional colors.

Hey Nevada, you might have just dated yourself. Um, who? of the what show? I hear what everyone is saying about outlining the navy lettering on Cuse's uni- I just don't agree. I like it simple. I have no trouble reading it. Hey, bin, I do not watch it willing, as somebody in my family forces me to do it. It is on PBS out here. If you ever watch it, look at the color schemes. Ugh.

Thanks Nevada- i'll keep am eye out for it.
I really should have included Nova and PC on the list. I am starting to think PC's are the best.

It may have something to do with the fact that EPL sides don't wear home whites and road color strips. When Man U plays Chelsea, it is red v. blue. When Man U plays Arsenal and both are red, one of them goes with the alternate color. Some clubs have white as their primary color- Tottenham comes to mind.
In the Big East, my vote goes to PC as the best uniforms, but no one in the conference has uniforms as distinctive and classic as UNC, UCLA, Kentucky. I am glad that at least Nike has moved away from the cut-off sleeve look.

Well lic, I think we can also talk about uniforms if we want. And a lot of people care about the uni's and about the floor in McDonough being painted Carolina blue. Who were the geniuses behind these moves? Damn this is frustrating, GIVE US OUR SCHOOL COLORS BACK!!!

Not sure how hoops uniform changes work with Nike but from what I've heard about football changes, the coaches are pretty heavily involved in the designs.
From what I've heard, Nike provides a bunch of possible designs based on what the coach/team suggests or agrees to and the decision is made.
Granted, the major part of the decision would be for schools/programs who let most of the design ideas come from Nike and whether for financial reasons or just plain lack of ideas take whatever Nike wants.
Oregon is obviously the guinea pig for any idea Nike has because of all the money Phil Knight and Nike give them but other schools who always tend to be "cutting-edge" are Miami and BYU.
All in all, I think the coaches/school can veto any design they want to in the process, but I could be wrong.

Sorry, don't want to be too harsh here, but why would ANYONE want to market ANYTHING related to Georgetown football? Football is the most popular sport in the nation. If you are going to market products with the idea of raising the visibility of the University, it would make good sense to include football in it. Closer to home, football has the largest alumni population of former lettermen, its support club is approaching Hoop Club-sized donor levels, and while its attendance base in 2004 is dictated by Harbin Field's lack of capacity, it still outdraws every Georgetown sport other than men's basketball. Concurrently, there is a segment of the alumni community that is either uninterested or downright unsupportive of the men's basketball program, for a variety of reasons. The positioning of the football and lacrosse programs alongside academic peer institutions can serve to bring this segment back into the mix, and marketing to them makes good sense. Finally, football has a 130 year tradition at the University, and is a program on the rise. The football page this morning has a quote from a 6-5, 295 lb. lineman who had offers at Kansas, Kansas State, and TCU, a walk-on offer from Miami, and offers at Lehigh and UMass but who will be attending Georgetown instead. Why? He wants to attend GU because of the academics its offers and the ability to continue to play football. "A college degree from Georgetown opens the doors to a lot of opportunities that I could not reasonably expect if I played football elsewhere." he said. There are a lot more high school kids out there with similar aspirations that simply don't know much about Georgetown beyond basketball. Marketing extends that message.

I use to think we had the best uniforms, especially with the navy-blue away jerseys. Those were the best. The big east teams don't have great uniforms if you think about it. I always liked arizona's red jerseys. Syracuse's Orange away jerseys are one of the best in the country. I don't know why thehy put blue lettering instead of the white lettering in the uniform. It looks better with the white lettering.
