Jeez guys I said in the original post "maybe he's doing it in practice." Did you read it? Of course he's practicing all sorts of things. But all I have to go on, like the rest of us, is the games, and I stand by my personal preference for seeing more in-game post work. And how is saying I'd like to see him do something differently the same as saying he's not trying to improve? Don't put words in my mouth. i think you practice in practice and dont roll out something experimental in the old spice classic until its ready. his doule-fake running lefthanded hookshot is just not ready for a real game situation yet. be patient! ive sed my peace on this topic. Fantastic post!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hibbert is horrible, missed dunks, fumbled passes, no offensive or defensive skills whatsoever. He is 7'2" and can't find the basket with a telescope. Please, please, JT III sit him down until he can develop more as a player.

This is an easy one... Henry is a Hoya with JT3 as his coach. Nuthin' but upside. So what if he hasn't found his role yet? He's a freshman. And he's a freshman with size, athleticism, and clearly a good head on his shoulders as he chose to come to the Hilltop in the first place. Go Henry!!! Go Hoyas!!!!

And this isn't a freshman averaging 20 mpg halfway through BE play. He's only been on the court a handful of times times, and only two games against teams from legit conferences (Tenn. and Wichita).

PS. I was shocked that McBricks wasn't featured prominently in that thread. I think I still have "DUNK THE EditedING BALL ROY!" seared into my brain from all the game watches I attended with our esteemed colleague. Like some profane cuckcoo clock, McBricks would errupt with a stream of expletives every fourth or fifth possession regarding Roy's lack of aggression.
PPS. Way to sound creepy in that thread SF. I didn't realize you were already stalking Roy back in 2005; I was under the impression it only began in late 2006.

I too think this is a crazy thread. We've played 5 games so far, 3 of which (Jville, Tenn, WSU) were arguably too close to get a raw freshman a whole lot of burn. I'm sure Henry will get more than a few minutes in at least 4 out of the next 5 games. The college game is a bit too fast for him right now, as it is for a lot of freshman. Let him play some of these easier squads and get some confidence. I bet once that first 3 drops, they'll drop in bunches, and you'll see him more active everywhere else on the court.

I'm not sure that Roy is a great comparison for Sims. Roy's problem was really that we didn't know how to run (or anything that required athleticism). Once Roy could do those things, he was still 7'2" and and showed he had some decent interior skills. Sims has the athleticism. His issue seems more to be that he is completely lost on the court. I don't want to say he reminds me more of (gulp) Macklin, but I will say that unless Sims begins to remember that he is almost 7 feet tall himself, he's going to be riding the pine a lot this season.

Not to pick on you SD hoya but i think thats looking thru rose colored glasses. Roy's problems as a freshman were more than he couldnt run. He missed a ton of lay-us. He could barely hold on to the ball before he was stripped. It wasn't just that he couldnt run. I tihnk its a great comparison cause Sims is way farther along than Roy was at a similar point. Henry will be fine and everyone who is saying he is going to be this or that after 5 games, I really don't think they'll own up when they are wrong anyway. its the 24 hr news area we live in the immediancy of now, no one can waitto see what people develop to in the future. I like what i've seen in terms of skills from Henry. Am I dissapointed in his production? Sure! But i see the physical ability, I know it will come. Maclkin isnt a good comparison cause Macklin had no ability to shoot like Henry does, and played soft. Henry doesn't play soft. He is aggressive not frightened like Macklin seemed to be. Also this notion that Sims is almost 7 ft tall he needs to be inside. Blah, He is going to be a versatile player. he is playing the forward slot when he is out there. He is taking the shots that present themselves to him. He is figuring out the offense. Like Fraschilla said (so you have a frame of refrence) this offense is predicated on reads. Henry has to find the spots for him to score that he feels comfortable, it will come.

I may not be the best judge of talent since I thought Duane Spencer had real NBA talent. We used to run an iso and he would take his man of the dribble. I started this thread not to bash Sims. I think the point is that he is not college ready. He should turn out to be a very good player. I thought I posted this yesterday, but do not see it. One more item, a higher post count does not equal greater knowledge and insight.

Henry's biggest problem at this point is his overall lack of strength. Skill set is there. Experience will come. Must get stronger.

And this is exactly what many on this board have been saying for months, and also why many speculated that he might not be a major contributor this season. So it's all the more reason to cut this kid some slack. Getting stronger takes time, unless you're using artificial enhancers.

We all need to give the kid some time. He has barely played any minutes, and in my opinion, he at least looks more athletic than Roy did his freshman year. I forgot what game it was, I think St. Johns, where Roy grabbed a rebound and was rejected when he went up for the dunk.....by the bottom of the rim. When I saw that I though there was no hope for the kid. Give Henry some minutes and time and I think that he will become a very good player. 6'10'' kids that have the confidence to sit out on the perimeter as well as the ABILITY to play in the post don't come around very often.
