From ESPN.com: Terrell Vinson, who just recently asked Loyola-Marymount for his release, scored a game-high 31 points as St. Frances routed McDonogh 95-64 on Friday night.

yeah, I considered Georgetown too--problem was--like Vinson--they didn't consider me. ;D You should have spent more time working on your verticle leap.

I think I am bit lost, why Vinson is being downplayed here? I am no recruiting guru in the least but here are the stats:
Listed as a 4 star recruit on both Scout and Rivals. He is #25 PF on Scout, the #16 SF on Rivals and a top 100 recruit (#81). He is local and his description on Scout says "Strengths - Versatility, rebounding, values structure." That is a perfect fit for the Hoyas.
Ok, recruiting services are not everything, but they are a pretty good barometer of a player's ability.
Tell me what I am missing guys. I am of the realist opinion we have 8 scholarship players next year even though I "feel" like Monroe may come back. But still, we are in desperate need of quality BE- level players (I do not consider Wattad or Mescheriakov BE level talents, those two are career role players).
How does a team that possibly has only 8 players next season turn away a quality, local recruit? Are betting the house we fill all 5 schollies in 2010 with this quality of player?
I really do not care if he is 6'6" (rivals) or 6'7" (scout), if the kid can play be can play. I mean with that attitude, Blair at Pitt should never have had the chance to dominate the BE. Seems strange this kid was a 4-star and had only one offer, could that be because he never really seemed open to any other possibility vs schools not liking him?

Perhaps JT III & Co. know something that most people don't. My guess is that the kid is not a good fit. Seems pretty simple to me. Well, he was just released so I am not so sure JT3 and Co are not interested. Up until a week ago he was firmly committed elsewhere and no one was really looking at him. I am interested to see how this plays out. My larger point was inquiring why everyone on the board seems so down on the kid, he seems like a quality player and good fit. You do not get many Top 100 players decommit in your backyard very often while you are holding multiple open scholarships. After Riley's decommitment, I am not necessarily counting on the commitments in 2010 being a certainty.

Good for him--he's not being recruited. Is this your guess or do you have inside information as to who JT3 and staff are considering?

What's going on with Terrell Vinson right now? Is he officially going to de-commit from Loyola Marymount? If so, what schools do you think he'll be looking at early?
-- Chris from Philadelphia ----- Vinson has officially de-committed. He is just waiting to be officially released from his letter of intent before he can be recruited again. This week Vinson communicated to me that he expects to receive his release this weekend.
Once he is released, he will have a ton of recruiting attention heaped on him as an available four-star prospect. Look for Wake Forest to make a strong push with the possibility of losing forwards James Johnson and Al-Farouq Aminu to the NBA. Georgetown is another program that will likely make a run for Vinson with the strong possibility of losing both DaJuan Summers and Greg Monroe. Georgetown was strongly involved with Vinson the first go-around, as were Maryland and Villanova.

ESPN U says he is the sleeper of the class... The super sleeper No. 49 Terrell Vinson (Baltimore/St. Frances) is a versatile player who can play both the power forward and small forward positions and fill up the stat sheet. He's a threat to score at most spots on the floor and is especially adept in the low post because of his soft touch and extension on his release. Vinson has a good face-up game; he can really make the defense pay from 17 feet and in or slash his way to the hoop. He plays under former Temple star Mark Karcher who instills defensive intensity and a hard-nosed attitude in all his players. An unsigned recruit, Vinson is being pursued by UMass, Maryland, South Florida, Providence and Cincinnati. sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/columns/story?columnist=biancardi_paul&id=4054919

He's not a good defender--just like 'Tione, and the best players on St. Frances were Dante Holmes and Greg Lewis--a young Big that I hope Hoyas DO recruit. Minute Lewis left game-St. Frances was done. I've seen Vinson play for 3 years on television and his game is same as it was 3 years ago. Now he could really gain a lot if he chooses right program--but seeing him, he'd be hard pressed to be anything more then role player at Georgetown (Julian Vaughn of SF position) and I highly doubt he'd stick around to do that. He views himself as more of a player then that. Hoya program has to get more athletic at the wing spots for defensive purposes and to battle/win the boards more. Vinson is average/below average athlete. man, that's a harsh scouting report. i usually describe my basketball game as ben wallace without the height and vertical which puts me on par with Vinson (I still have 4 years of eligibility remaining)

Has Terrell officially dropped us or have we dropped him?

Seems from everything else on this thread that there never was an "us & him" to begin with.
